Carrie Fisher 'had cocaine' 

in her system when she died

Carrie Fisher had three drugs including cocaine in her system when she died, her post-mortem has concluded.
The report released on Monday stated the star may have taken cocaine three days before she fell ill on a flight on 23 December, US media reported.
Traces of heroin and MDMA, popularly known as ecstasy, were also found in the Star Wars actress's system.
But investigators could not determine what impact the cocaine and other drugs had on her death.
The findings were based on toxicology samples taken when Fisher arrived at a Los Angeles hospital.
Investigators could not say when the actress had taken the MDMA or heroin.
The star, who played Princess Leia in the film series, died on 27 December.

'Social stigmas'

On Friday, a statement from the Los Angeles coroner said the exact cause of death was unknown but cited factors including sleep apnoea, heart disease and drug use.
Sleep apnoea is a common condition in which a person stops breathing during sleep, either for a few seconds or minutes.
In a statement released to People magazine after the coroner's ruling, Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd said: "My mum battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it.
"She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases."
Her manner of death will be listed as undetermined, the coroner's statement said.
Fisher's death certificate, issued in January, stated that the cause of death was "cardiac arrest/deferred".

14 πολυτελείς βίλες σε έναν παράδεισο που ο Ζακ Υβ Κουστώ λάτρεψε και έμεινε για μήνες

Βορειανατολικά της Μαδαγασκάρης, στο νοτιανατολικό άκρο της Αφρικής και στην άκρη του Ινδικού Ωκεανού, βρίσκεται ένα μαγικό σύμπλεγμα νησιών, νησίδων και υφάλων, το Nosy Ankao, που όταν το πρωτοεπισκέφτηκε ο Ζακ Υβ Κουστώ έμεινε εδώ για μήνες κάνοντας εξερευνήσεις και ντοκιμαντέρ και συμβάλλοντας και ο ίδιος στο να ανακηρυχθεί προστατευόμενη, κυρίως η βόρεια πλευρά του.
Παράλληλα, για περισσότερα από 25 χρόνια, o επιχειρηματίας και κυνηγός θησαυρών Jean Cristophe Peyre εξερευνούσε τα νερά του -ελάχιστα γνωστού μέχρι τότε- παραδείσου ως την εποχή που η εταιρεία Time + Tide, με τουριστικές δραστηριότητες στη Ζάμπια και τη Μαδαγασκάρη, επισκέφτηκε το Nosy Ankao και αποφάσισε να επενδύσει στο κυρίως νησί. Ο Peyre, έχοντας αναπτύξει ήδη ισχυρούς δεσμούς με τους κατοίκους και κυρίως τους ψαράδες της περιοχής, μεσολάβησε ώστε η Time + Tide να αγοράσει ένα σημαντικό κομμάτι του Nosy Ankao με την υποχρέωση παράλληλα να προστατευθεί με αυστηρούς όρους το εθνικό πάρκο αλλά και να εργαστούν πολλοί από τους ντόπιους στην τουριστική επένδυση.
Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να δημιουργηθεί ένα εντυπωσιακό resort, το Miavana, με 14 πολυτελείς βίλες, σε ένα  τοπίο απαράμμιλου φυσικού κάλλους και ιδιαίτερης περιβαντολογικής σημασίας, το οποίο είναι προσεγγίσιμο μόνο με ελικόπτερο. Έχοντας σχεδιαστεί από τους αρχιτέκτονες Silvio Rech και Lesley Carstens, που δούλεψαν για 4 ολόκληρα χρόνια, οι βίλες είναι φτιαγμένες από πέτρες Μαδαγασκάρης, ένα ανοιχτό ροζ υλικό που μαζί με τα δεκάδες άλλα ορυκτά πετρώματα του νησιού (κυρίως τα ζαφείρια) θεωρούνται ως «εθνικός θησαυρός» της χώρας. Περιτριγυρισμένες από παραδεισένια τροπική βλάστηση, οι παραθαλάσσιες βίλες του Miavana διαθέτουν ιδιωτικές πισίνες, άνετα καθιστικά, κουζίνες με όλα τα κομφόρ και βέβαια σεφ που είναι πανέτοιμοι να εξυπηρετήσουν την κάθε στιγμή της ημέρας (και της νύχτας). Επιπλέον, όλο το συγκρότημα είναι εφοδιασμένο με τα πιο σύγχρονα συστήματα συλλογής ενέργειας από τον ήλιο, ενώ τίποτα ανακυκλώσιμο από το resort δεν πηγαίνει χαμένο.
To Miavana, τα καταλύματα του οποίου ξεκινούν σε τιμές από 2.500 δολάρια το άτομο, για τη βραδιά, απευθύνεται κυρίως σε εκείνους που αναζητούν την περιπέτεια, έχοντας όμως όλες τις ανέσεις και την ασφάλεια που παρέχει ένα πολυτελές 5άστερο ξενοδοχείο. Η Time + Tide οργανώνει από την πρώτη στιγμή που πατάει το πόδι του ο επισκέπτης στο Nosy Ankao και ανάλογα με το οικονομικό πακέτο που έχει επιλέξει, τις δραστηριότητες που θα ακολουθήσει, μεταξύ των οποίων, παρατήρηση σπάνιων πουλιών και λεμούριων, καταδύσεις στους κοραλλιογενείς υφάλους και στα πολλά ναυάγια της περιοχής, kite surfing, ταξίδια στη ζούγκλα της ενδοχώρας και πολλές άλλες συναρπαστικές περιπέτειες.
Το βράδυ βέβαια, ο ίδιος επισκέπτης θα μπορεί να απολαύσει όλες τις πολυτέλειες του resort που διαθέτει -μεταξύ άλλων- bar, εστιατόριο, χώρους για ρομαντικό δείπνο και βέβαια spa για χαλάρωση. Αξίζει τέλος να σημειώσουμε ότι σημαντικό μέρος των εσόδων του Miavana διατίθεται σε περιβαντολογικές δράσεις για την προστασία του Nosy Ankao.

τα ευεργετικά φυσικά λουτρά της Χαλκιδικής…

Με διπλάσιους επισκέπτες σε σχέση με το αντίστοιχο διάστημα πέρυσι, ήδη από τον πρώτο μήνα λειτουργίας του, το ανακαινισμένο υδροθεραπευτήριο στα Λουτρά Αγίας Παρασκευής στη Χαλκιδική αναμένεται να γίνει πόλος έλξης όλων όσοι αγαπούν τον ιαματικό τουρισμό. 

Αυτός τουλάχιστον είναι ο στόχος της τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης και των κατοίκων της περιοχής, που θέλουν να αναπτυχθεί ακόμη περισσότερο το τουριστικό τους προϊόν.
Όπως ανέφερε μιλώντας στο ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό του Αθηναϊκού-Μακεδονικού Πρακτορείου Ειδήσεων Πρακτορείο 104,9 FM ο πρόεδρος της Κοινωφελούς Επιχείρησης του δήμου Κασσάνδρας, Χάρης Κουκουβίνος, το νέο υδροθεραπευτήριο έγινε σύγχρονο κέντρο σπα που διαθέτει όλες τις ανέσεις.
Εκτός από τις δύο πισίνες ολυμπιακών διαστάσεων (μια εξωτερική και μια εσωτερική), διαθέτει ατομικές μπανιέρες, υδρομασάζ, σάουνα, χαμάμ, δίκλινα δωμάτια, αναψυκτήριο, φυσικοθεραπεία, δυνατότητα μασάζ, υποστήριξη από ιατρικό προσωπικό, καθώς και ναυαγοσώστες.

«Η ανακαίνιση ξεκίνησε πριν από δύο χρόνια. Σήμερα ο επισκέπτης θα δει μπροστά του υπερσύγχρονες εγκαταστάσεις ενώ το κτίριο που βρίσκεται σε λειτουργία είναι μεγαλύτερο από 1000 τμ.» ανέφερε ο κ.Κουκουβίνος.
Η είσοδος στο υδροθεραπευτήριο κοστίζει 6 ευρώ και συνήθως συστήνεται η παραμονή στην πισίνα να μην ξεπερνά το ημίωρο.
«Το νερό είναι ιδιαίτερα ευεργετικό καθώς είναι νερό θερμής πηγής, υδροθειούχο, μεσόθερμο, μεταλλικό – υπερτονικό ενώ η φυσική του θερμοκρασία κυμαίνεται μεταξύ των 37,5 και 39 βαθμών Κελσίου. Στην εσωτερική πισίνα η θερμοκρασία είναι στους 35 βαθμούς Κελσίου ενώ στην εξωτερική στους 33» σημείωσε ο κ.Κουκουβίνος.

Λόγω των θεραπευτικών ιδιοτήτων του νερού, τα Λουτρά ήταν πρώτα στην προτίμηση ατόμων κυρίως με δερματικές παθήσεις, αλλά και μυοσκελετικά προβλήματα.
«Αυτό που επιθυμούμε είναι να γίνει γνωστό και να το αγαπήσουν και νεότερες ηλικίες καθώς η ευεργετική επίδραση του νερού είναι για όλους», πρόσθεσε.

«Στόχος μας είναι να λειτουργεί και το χειμώνα για να έχουμε τουρίστες και επισκέπτες όλο το χρόνο» πρόσθεσε. Μέχρι στιγμής η έναρξη της λειτουργίας του γίνεται τον Μάρτιο και κλείνει τέλος του Νοεμβρίου.

Το τριπλό γυάλινο θαύμα της Νέας Υόρκης

263 πολυτελείς κατοικίες σε τρεις αριστουργηματικούς γυάλινους πύργους


Κοσμογονικές αλλαγές σε επίπεδο κατασκευών συμβαίνουν το τελευταίο διάστημα στη Νέα Υόρκη, επενδύσεις 11 δισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων που θα έχουν μεταμορφώσει εντελώς την πιο διάσημη μεγαλούπολη του κόσμου έως το 2035. Μεταξύ των νέων εντυπωσιακών projects και αυτή που θα παραδοθεί σχετικά σύντομα προς χρήση, η πολυδιαφημισμένη πλατεία Waterline, στο Upper West Side του Manhattan, πολύ κοντά στις όχθες του ποταμού Hudson. Ήδη μάλιστα έχει ξεκινήσει η διαδικασία πώλησης των 263 πολυτελών κατοικιών στους τρεις αριστουργηματικούς γυάλινους πύργους της πλατείας, ο κάθε ένας από τους οποίους είναι δημιούργημα φημισμένων αρχιτεκτονικών γραφείων, όπως των Rafael Viñoly Architects, Richard Meier & Partners Architects και Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
Πρόκειται για ένα από τα σημαντικότερα νέα έργα της Νέας Υόρκης και στα δεκάδες στρέμματα της έκτασης δημιουργούνται ήδη χώροι αναψυχής και πρασίνου υπό τη επίβλεψη του αρχιτέκτονα εξωτερικών χώρων Mathews Nielsen. Στην ουσία, στις όχθες του Hudson, σε δύο χρόνια, θα είναι έτοιμο ένα νέο καταπράσινο πάρκο με νερά, δέντρα, λουλούδια, παιδική χαρά, πολλά παγκάκια και χώρους χαλάρωσης, ενώ κατασκευάζεται και ένας τοίχος αναρρίχησης για τους λάτρεις του αθλήματος. Εσωτερικά, οι γυάλινοι πύργοι, θα έχουν δεκάδες χώρους αναψυχής και άθλησης, μεταξύ των οποίων πίστα για τους λάτρεις του σκέιτμπορντ, εσωτερικό γήπεδο τένις, πισίνες, παιδικές χαρές, εστιατόρια, μπαρ, καταστήματα, ενώ οι πολυτελείς κατοικίες θα ξεκινούν από τον 20ο (και πάνω) όροφο κάθε κτηρίου, απολαμβάνοντας οι ένοικοι την απίστευτη θέα της πόλης και φυσικά του ποταμού Hudson.
Ο κάθε ένας από τους γυάλινους πύργους έχει τη δική του αρχιτεκτονική «ταυτότητα» και αν και από απόσταση μοιάζουν περίπου όμοιοι, οι διαφορές είναι αρκετά σημαντικές τόσο εξωτερικά όσο και στους εσωτερικούς τους χώρους. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, η κυρίαρχη αισθητικήείναι ίδια, με το γυαλί και το μέταλλο να κυριαρχούν παντού. Όλο το project είναι υπό την επίβλεψη του αρχιτεκτονικού γραφείου Hill West Architects, ενώ σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες οι τιμές για τα διαμερίσματα θα ξεκινούν από τα 2 εκατ. δολάρια.

Katy Perry Begins A Hot Streak With "California Gurls"

"California Gurls" hits #1, the first of five Hot 100 chart-toppers from Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album - a feat only equaled by Michael Jackson's Bad.
Written with the help of "I Kissed a Girl" producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin, along with frequent collaborator Bonnie McKee, Perry's West Coast summer anthem is an answer to Jay Z's New York City tribute "Empire State of Mind." California-born Snoop Dogg adds to the beachy vibe with his rap, "I wish they all could be California girls," a nod to the 1965 Beach Boys hit.

Landing at #1 in its fourth week on the charts, it ties a 43-year-old record for the fastest rise to the top of the charts by a Capitol Records artist, a feat first made by Bobbie Gentry in 1967 with "Ode To Billie Joe." That's nothing compared to what happens next. Perry continues her hot streak with four more #1 singles: "Teenage Dream,""Firework,""E.T.," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." Not since Michael Jackson's Bad(1987) has an album spawned five #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

Former Bandmates Bobby Brown, New Edition Release Hit Albums

MCA Records issues landmark albums by two of their hottest young R&B acts: Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel and New Edition's Heart Break.

It's been three years since Bobby Brown left New Edition to embark on a solo career. Brown had been a member of the Boston-bred boy band since its inception in 1978 until he was allegedly forced out of the group for a bout of bad behavior. A meager solo release, King of Stage, spawned just one hit on the R&B charts, "Girlfriend." He was in danger of becoming old news without New Edition. 

Brown turns his fortunes around when he taps hot R&B producers Babyface and Antonio "L.A." Reid for Don't Be Cruel. The album yields five Top 10 singles, including the title track, "Roni,""Every Little Step,""Rock Wit'cha," and – most notably – the chart-topper "My Prerogative." Written by Brown, "My Prerogative" is an in-your-face new jack swing anthem that embraces his newfound independence. The album spends six weeks atop the Billboard 200 albums chart and becomes the best-selling album of 1989 in the US. 

Meanwhile, New Edition is ready for the next phase of their career without Brown, introducing their newest addition, Johnny Gill. No longer the little boys who crooned the sticky-sweet pop hit "Candy Girl," they need a new image to reflect their maturity as young men and a new sound to match. They hook up with their own star team: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the producers responsible for Janet Jackson's career-making turn as a sex icon with her breakthrough album Control. With Heart Break, Jam and Lewis coax a smoother R&B sound wrapped around adult themes of love and loss. The album peaks at #12 on the Billboard 200 and lands 5 charting singles, the highest being "If It Isn't Love" at #7 on the pop chart.

   1953: οι ΗΠΑ, η Βρετανία και η Γαλλία κατηγορούν δριμύτατα την ΕΣΣΔ για την ωμή επίθεση, που πραγματοποίησε κατά διαδηλωτών στο Ανατολικό Βερολίνο, κατά την οποία σκοτώθηκαν 21 άτομα και τραυματίστηκαν 187. 

   1956: γεννιέται ο Γάλλος ποδοσφαιριστής Μισέλ Πλατινί. 

   1956: ο Αμερικανός συγγραφέας ’Αρθουρ Μίλερ, αρνείται να προδώσει τους κομμουνιστές στην επιτροπή της Γερουσίας, την περίοδο του Μακαρθισμού. 

   1957: η Έλεν Λουκς Φέρκλο, ορκίζεται ως η πρώτη γυναίκα υπουργός του Καναδά. 

   1961: η ελληνική Βουλή απορρίπτει την πρόταση δυσπιστίας προς την κυβέρνηση. 

   1964: η Ισπανία κατακτά το 2ο Κύπελλο Εθνών νικώντας στον τελικό την ΕΣΣΔ με 2-1 στην Μαδρίτη. Πρώτος σκόρερ της διοργάνωσης ανακηρύσσεται ο Δανός Madsen με 11 γκολ.

   1970: η Βραζιλία κερδίζει την Ιταλία με 4-1 στον τελικό και κατακτά το 9ο Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο Ποδοσφαίρου του Μεξικoύ. Το 3ο Κύπελλο Jules Rimet, το οποίο θα κλαπεί αργότερα, παραμένει οριστικά στη Βραζιλία. Πρώτος σκόρερ της διοργάνωσης ανακηρύσσεται ο Γερμανός Gerd Muller με 10 γκολ. Τα κέρδη του Κυπέλλου μοιράζονται ως εξής: 10% FIFA, 25% Μεξικάνικη Ομοσπονδία και 65% οι ομάδες ανάλογα με το πλήθος των αγώνων που έδωσαν. 

   1970: ο Tony Jacklin γίνεται ο πρώτος Βρετανός γκόλφερ στα τελευταία 50 χρόνια που κερδίζει το US Open νικώντας τον Dave Hill με 5 χτυπήματα.

   1995: την παραίτησή του υποβάλλει ο υπουργός Τουρισμού Διονύσης Λιβανός, μετά την κατάργηση του διαγωνισμού για την ανάθεση του καζίνο στο Φλοίσβο, καταγγέλλοντας συκοφαντική δυσφήμηση σε βάρος του. 

   1996: ο γενικός γραμματέας του ΟΗΕ Μπούτρος Γκάλι εκφράζει την επιθυμία του να επανεκλεγεί στο αξίωμα του γ.γ., αλλά οι ΗΠΑ απειλούν ότι, θα ασκήσουν βέτο για να τον εμποδίσουν. 

   1997: η New York Liberty νικά τις Los Angeles Sparks με σκορ 67-57 στον εναρκτήριο αγώνα του γυναικείου ΝΒΑ. 

   1997: την έκθεση των κειμηλίων του Αγίου Όρους εγκαινιάζει στη Θεσσαλονίκη ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας Κωστής Στεφανόπουλος. 

   1998: η Marion Jones γίνεται η πρώτη Αμερικανίδα αθλήτρια στα 50 τελευταία χρόνια που κερδίζει τις κούρσες στα 100 και 200μ καθώς και το άλμα εις μήκος στο USA Track and Field Championship. 

   1998: ο Lothar Matthaeus της Εθνικής Γερμανίας ισοφαρίζει το ρεκόρ των 5 συμμετοχών σε Παγκόσμια Κύπελλα του Carbajal και σπάει το ρεκόρ των 21 εμφανίσεων των Maradona, Seeler, Zmuda στον αγώνα με την Γιουγκοσλαβία (2-2). 

   1999: δύο μεγάλες μορφές του μπάσκετ, ο Γιουγκοσλάβος Drazen Petrovic και ο Βραζιλιάνος Marcelo Pereira, μπαίνουν στο αμερικανικό Hall of Fame. 

   2000: ανακαλείται στη Σκοτία με ψήφους 99 με 17, ο Τομέας 28, ο οποίος ήταν μία αμφιλεγόμενη τροποποίηση μίας νομοθεσίας της τοπικής κυβέρνησης, η οποία έλεγε ότι οι τοπικές αρχές δεν πρέπει να προωθούν επίτηδες την ομοφυλοφιλία. 

   2001: πεθαίνει ο Αμερικανός μουσικός των μπλουζ, Τζον Λι Χούκερ. 

   2003: τη ζωή τουλάχιστον 105 ανθρώπων στοιχίζει έκρηξη, που σημειώνεται σε πετρελαιαγωγό σε χωριό της νοτιοανατολικής Νιγηρίας. Η πυρκαγιά προκλήθηκε, όταν κάποιοι επιχείρησαν να κλέψουν πετρέλαιο τρυπώντας τον πετρελαιαγωγό. Οι κάτοικοι του χωριού πήγαν στο σημείο εκείνο για να προμηθευτούν πετρέλαιο είτε για προσωπική χρήση, είτε για να το πουλήσουν.

June 21st: On this Day  1948, Columbia Records launched a new vinyl disc that played at thirty-three and one third RPM in New York City, sparking a music-industry standard so strong that the digital age has yet to kill it.  1963, The Rolling Stones played at Ricky Tick Club, Star and Garter Hotel, Windsor, Berks. The influential 1960s rhythm & blues club in Windsor, Berkshire, was the host to many important acts such as The Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Cream.  1966, Reg Calvert the manager of The Fortunes, Screaming Lord Sutch and the owner of offshore pirate radio station Radio City was shot dead by business rival William Smedley during a confrontation. Smedley was the owner of pirate station Radio Caroline and was later cleared of the murder.  1966, Jimmy Page made his live debut with The Yardbirds at The Marquee Club London.

 1966, After a North American tour The Rolling Stones sued 14 hotels over a booking ban in New York, claiming that the ban was violating civil rights laws.  1966, Tom Jones needed 14 stitches in his forehead after his Jaguar was involved in a car crash in Marble Arch, London.  1966, Working at Abbey Road studios in London, The Beatles recorded from start to finish, a new John Lennon song ‘She Said She Said’. The song was reportedly based on a bizarre conversation that Lennon had with Peter Fonda while John and George Harrison were tripping on LSD.  1968, Pink Floyd played two shows in one day: the first at the Commemoration Ball, Balliol College, Oxford, and then at Middle Earth Club, Covent Garden, London. The club was notable for several drug raids by the police, during which underage revellers were arrested; on one occasion a machine called the 'Trip Machine' was dismantled and taken away by the police.  1972, The first Stonehenge Free Festival was held at Stonehenge, England culminating on the summer solstice. Staged between 1972 and 1984, acts who have appeared include Hawkwind, Gong, Doctor and the Medics, Flux of Pink Indians, Buster Blood Vessel, Crass, Selector, Dexys Midnight Runners, Thompson Twins, The Raincoats, Amazulu, Wishbone Ash, Man, Benjamin Zephaniah, The Enid, Roy Harper, Jimmy Page, Ted Chippington, Zorch and Ozric Tentacles.  1975, Captain and Tennille started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with the Neil Sedaka song 'Love Will Keep Us Together'. The duo of husband and wife "Captain" Daryl Dragon and Cathryn Antoinette "Toni" Tennille had worked as backup musicians for Elton John and Neil Sedaka.  1975, Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple to form his own group Rainbow. The group went through many line-up changes with, Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, Cozy Powell, Roger Glover, and Doogie White all being members.  1977, Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten was attacked in a brawl outside the live music venue Dingwalls in Camden, London, England.  1979, Angus MacLise, Velvet Underground's first drummer died of tuberculosis aged 34. He quit the band in 1965.  1980, German orchestra leader and songwriter Bert Kaempfert died aged 56. Both Frank Sinatra (Strangers In The Night) and Elvis Presley (Wooden Heart) covered his songs. Kaempfert released over 50 albums. In 1961, he hired The Beatles to back Tony Sheridan on recording sessions for Polydor, (these were the Beatles' first commercial recordings).  1980, French police arrested all members of The Stranglers after a concert at Nice University for allegedly starting a riot.  1986, Genesis scored their fourth UK No.1 album with their 13th studio album 'Invisible Touch'. It remained in the charts for 96 weeks, making it the most commercially successful album of their career, eventually selling over 15 million copies worldwide and produced five US Top 5 singles, including the title track.  1992, The Orb released 'Blue Room' the single had a duration of 39 minutes and 58 seconds, two seconds shorter than the maximum permitted for a single under UK chart rules. The single peaked at No.8.  1994, George Michael lost his lawsuit against Sony Records. Michael claimed that his 15-year contract with Sony was unfair because the company could refuse to release albums it thought wouldn't be commercially successful. Michael vowed he would never record for Sony again. He re-signed with the company in 2003.  2000, 39 year-old Karen McNeil who claimed she was the wife of Axl Rose and that she communicated with him telepathically was jailed for one year for stalking the singer.  2001, John Lee Hooker, American blues singer and guitarist died in his sleep aged 83. Had hits with 'Boom Boom', 'Dimples' and 'I'm In The Mood'. His songs have been covered by many artists including Cream, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, The Yardbirds, The Doors and The White Stripes. He appeared and sang in the 1980 movie The Blues Brothers.  2011, American band Maroon 5 released 'Moves Like Jagger', featuring Christina Aguilera. Its lyrics refered to a male's ability to impress a female with his dance moves, which he compares to those of Mick Jagger. The video featured old video footage of Jagger and his iconic dance moves. 'Moves Like Jagger' was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards. The single peaked at No.1 on the US chart.  2011, People magazine reported that 75-year-old Glen Campbell  had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. "I still love making music," said Campbell. "And I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."  2015, Apple Music reversed its payment policy, a day after Taylor Swift said she was refusing to allow the company to stream her latest album 1989. In an open letter to Apple, Swift said she was withholding the record as she was unhappy with the three-month free trial offered to subscribers, saying "We don't ask you for free iPhones. Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation." Apple now said it would pay artists for music streamed during trial periods.  2016, Trumpeter Wayne Jackson, who formed the Memphis Horns duo with saxophonist Andrew Love, died of congestive heart failure at the age of 74. Films to watch this summer 

if you don't like blockbusters

If you like giant robots, costumed crime-fighters or computer-generated simians, this summer's cinematic offerings are unlikely to disappoint.
Blockbusters, though, aren't for everybody. So what is out there if you don't want to watch Transformers: The Last Knight, Spider-Man: Homecoming or War for the Planet of the Apes?
Well, we have animated sequel Cars 3, animated threequel Despicable Me 3 and Christopher Nolan's war epic Dunkirk. But whichever way you slice it, they're really just blockbusters of a different cloth.
So what's left? More than you might think. Here are a few films you might want to check out if you're after something a little bit different.

Baby Driver (28 June)

Director Edgar Wright is known for Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz - films that combined gross-out comedy with sly spins on familiar genre conventions.
His latest film is a relatively straight crime thriller about a baby-faced getaway driver whose skills behind the wheel ensure he's always in demand.
Equipped with a great cast, a cool soundtrack and plenty of tyre-squealing mayhem, it's a slick piece of Tarantino-esque car-nage with a little bit more substance that your average Fast and the Furious.
With the exception of Downton Abbey's Lily James, it is something of an all-male affair though.

All Eyez On Me (30 June)

The first in a number of upcoming films about Tupac Shakur is a straightforward chronicle of the rapper's short life and career.
Yet that hasn't stopped it irking some of his friends and associates, among them fellow rapper 50 Cent and actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
However, there has been praise for Demetrius Shipp Jr's performance as Shakur, the Harlem-born performer who was shot and killed in September 1996.
The film, by the way, shares its title with the last Tupac album to be released during his lifetime.

It Comes At Night (7 July)

A psychological thriller steeped in suspense and dread, this tale of two families sharing a cabin in the woods looks like it might be better released at Halloween.
Given the recent success of Get Out, though, it's perhaps not surprising It Comes At Night - another film to blend genre scares with social commentary - has been given a prominent summer berth.
Joel Edgerton stars as a father who has constructed a refuge from a deadly epidemic that is believed to have wiped out much of the human population.
Said refuge, alas, is not safe from fear and paranoia in a film that currently has an 87% rating on reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Sofia Coppola's latest, her first theatrical feature since 2013's The Bling Ring, is a starry affair that won her a best director prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Set in Virginia during the American Civil War, it tells of a girls' school that is thrown out of whack when it takes in a wounded Union soldier.
The soldier, played by Colin Farrell, upsets the equilibrium of this all-female enclave, drawing out tensions and resentments that had lain out of view.
Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning swell the cast of drama whose source material previously spawned a Clint Eastwood movie in 1971.

The winner of the year's least appealing title is actually a charming romantic comedy about a Muslim comedian from Pakistan who begins a relationship with a white American woman.
It's the ultimate culture clash, made even more complicated when Emily (Zoe Kazan) falls ill and her beau (Kumail Nanjiani) is called upon to offer comfort to her parents.
Inspired by Nanjiani's own romantic life, The Big Sick was a big hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was snapped up by Amazon for $12m (£9.5m).
Witty, heartfelt and unexpectedly sophisticated, it also comes with some highly amusing insights into Pakistan's fascination with cricket.

Η Κως, η Κάλυμνος, η Νίσυρος και η Πάτμος βρίσκονται
 ανάμεσα στους τουριστικούς προορισμούς που προτείνει 
για αυτό το καλοκαίρι η θερινή ρωσική έκδοση του
 περιοδικού National Geographic Traveler.
Πρόκειται για το τεύχος Ιούνιος-Αύγουστος 2017 που κυκλοφόρησε σήμερα, 
με ειδική αναφορά στο εξώφυλλό της για τα τέσσερα νησιά και 4σέλιδο 
τουριστικό αφιέρωμα.

Luxurious «Ασημένια Μούσα» των θαλασσών

40.700 τόνοι ακραίας πολυτέλειας και χλιδής ταξιδεύουν 
για Κέρκυρα, Κατάκολο, Σαντορίνη και Ρόδο

Μπορεί στην Ελλάδα οι πολυτελείς κρουαζιέρες να μην είναι ιδιαίτερα διαδεδομένες, καθώς περισσότερο οι Αμερικανοί έχουν στο lifestyle τους τέτοιου είδους ταξίδια αναψυχής, αλλά πρόκειται για έναν τουριστικό κλάδο με μεγάλη ανάπτυξη που αποδίδει κάθε χρόνο εκατομμύρια δολάρια σε εταιρείες και πλοιοκτήτες. Μία από τις σημαντικότερες παρουσίες στο χώρο τα τελευταία χρόνια αποτελεί η Silversea Cruises, η πλοιοκτήτρια εταιρεία πολυτελών κρουαζιερόπλοιων, που έχει σαν βάση της το Monaco και συνιδιοκτήτες την Lefebvre family, μία πολύ σημαντική εφοπλιστική οικογένεια από τη Ρώμη. Η Silversea διαθέτει εννέα πολυτελή κρουαζιερόπλοια που προσφέρουν υπηρεσίες 5άστερων ξενοδοχείων και ταξίδια χαλάρωσης και αναψυχής στα πιο ξακουστά μέρη του κόσμου.
Το πιο πρόσφατο απόκτημα της Silversea είναι το περίφημο Silver Muse,χωρητικότητας 40.700 τόνων, που κατασκευάστηκε από τη ναυπηγό εταιρεία Fincantieri στο Τριέστι της Ιταλίας. Πρόκειται για ένα πραγματικό κομψοτέχνημα ναυπηγικής, πολυτέλειας και χλιδής, το μεγαλύτερο πλέον κρουαζιερόπλοιο της Silversea αλλά από τα σχετικά «μικρά» της κατηγορίας, που μπορεί να φιλοξενήσει 596 επιβάτες σε 298 σουίτες και στις οποίες οι εύποροι φιλοξενούμενοι απολαμβάνουν -μεταξύ των άλλων- ειδικά διαμορφωμένα για τις προτιμήσεις τους μίνι μπαρ, επώνυμα καλλυντικά διασήμων Οίκων και φυσικά μπάτλερ επί 24ώρου βάσεως. «Ναυαρχίδες» της ακραίας πολυτέλειας του συγκεκριμένου πλοίου είναι οι τρεις «βασιλικές» σουίτες του, η «σουίτα του ιδιοκτήτη», η «Grand Suite» και η «Royal Suite» που διαθέτουν τα φημισμένα κρεβάτια πολυτελείας Savoir, αρκετών χιλιάδων δολαρίων το κάθε ένα.
Το τι ακριβώς παρέχεται σε όλες τις σουίτες του Silver Muse θα είναι μάλλον μάταιο να αναφερθεί με λεπτομέρεια καθώς περιλαμβάνονται όλες οι υπηρεσίες ενός καλού 5άστερου ξενοδοχείου (οι μεγάλες διαφορές είναι κυρίως στους χώρους και στις εξωτερικές βεράντες). Mεγάλο ενδιαφέρον όμως έχει το τι μπορεί να κάνει ένας επιβάτης του πλοίου, όταν δεν περιηγείται σε κάποιο φημισμένο τουριστικό θέρετρο και η απάντηση και εδώ είναι σχετικά εύκολη: ΤΑ ΠΑΝΤΑ!
To Silver Muse έχει δεκάδες καθιστικά, είτε εσωτερικού είτε εξωτερικού χώρου, καζίνο, τεράστια πισίνα με όλα τα απαραίτητα, spa της φημισμένης Zàgara Beauty Spa με πανάκριβα προϊόντα Elemis, αντρικό κομμωτήριο, ειδικό χώρο στον οποίο απολαμβάνει κάποιος χαλαρωτική μουσική και βλέπει video και ταινίες έως και βιβλιοθήκη ειδικά φτιαγμένη για το κρουαζιερόπλοιο με τίτλους 80ετίας από το λονδρέζικο βιβλιοπωλείο G. ΞΕΝΙΑ ΠΑΛΙΟΥΡΙΟΥ-ΕΓΚΡΙΘΗΚΕ Η ΑΡΧΙΤΕΚΤΟΝΙΚΗ ΜΕΛΕΤΗ

Προχωράει σταδιακά η επένδυση του ομίλου Σαββίδη στο Ξενία στο Παλιούρι με την έγκριση της αρχιτεκτονικής προμελέτης και προκαταρκτικής στατικής μελέτης προδιαγραφών και κατευθύνσεων για την επισκευή και ανακαίνιση του συγκροτήματος, το οποίο έχει χαρακτηριστεί διατηρητέο μνημείο σύγχρονης αρχιτεκτονικής.
Η απόφαση της έγκρισης, την οποία υπογράφει η υπουργός Λυδία Κονιόρδου, είναι ήδη δημοσιευμένη στη «Διαύγεια».
Όπως επισημαίνεται στην απόφαση, σε επόμενη φάση θα υποβληθεί «οριστική αρχιτεκτονική, στατική και Η/Μ μελέτη με τα απαραίτητα στοιχεία τεκμηρίωσης, παθολογίας και προτάσεις επεμβάσεων στις αρμόδιες υπηρεσίες του ΥΠΠΟΑ για την κατά νόμο γνωμοδότηση του Κεντρικού Συμβουλίου Νεοτέρων Μνημείων, στις οποίες θα πρέπει να διατηρείται ο λιτός και απέριττος χαρακτήρας και η μορφολογία του συγκροτήματος, στους εξωτερικούς και εσωτερικούς χώρους».


Στους όρους, που θέτει η απόφαση του υπουργείου είναι να επανεξεταστεί η θέση και το σχήμα των κολυμβητικών δεξαμενών, εφόσον επιτρέπεται η κατασκευή τους από πλευράς ισχυουσών διατάξεων. «Οι προτάσεις χωροθέτησης των νέων κατασκευών πλησίον του συγκροτήματος μοτέλ «Ξενία», που εντάσσονται σε ένα γενικότερο σχεδιασμό για την περιοχή, θα εξεταστούν όταν θα υποβληθούν, σε δεύτερη φάση». Οι μελετητές, αφού συμπληρώσουν τις μελέτες σύμφωνα με τους παραπάνω όρους, οφείλουν να προσκομίσουν τρεις σειρές προς έλεγχο και θεώρηση στη Διεύθυνση Προστασίας και Αναστήλωσης Νεωτέρων και Σύγχρονων Μνημείων.
Tο ακίνητο έκτασης 320 στρεμμάτων περιήλθε στον ομογενή επιχειρηματία από το ΤΑΙΠΕΔ τον Μάιο του 2016 έναντι 14 εκατ. για 99 χρόνια με σκοπό την τουριστική αξιοποίηση με την ανάπτυξη ενός οικιστικού συμπλέγματος υψηλού επιπέδου, με έμφαση στις εξοχικές κατοικίες και τις εγκαταστάσεις φιλοξενία και αναψυχής.
Το επενδυτικό σχέδιο προϋπολογίζεται στα 80 εκατ. ευρώ και περιλαμβάνει ανάπτυξη ξενοδοχειακών υποδομών, μεταξύ των οποίων η ανακαίνιση και λειτουργία, έπειτα από περίπου 25 χρόνια απαξίωσης, του Ξενία Παλιουρίου. Περιλαμβάνει επίσης, κατασκευή παραθεριστικών κατοικιών, χώρους αναψυχής, μαρίνες κ.ο.κ.

Ωστόσο, η υλοποίηση της επένδυσης έχει ήδη αντιμετωπίσει καθυστερήσεις καθώς μεταξύ άλλων μεγάλο μέρος της έκτασης είναι δασική.

Μεγαλείο και πολυτέλεια σε 1.000 τετραγωνικά χλιδής

Μια εντυπωσιακή πισίνα σχεδόν περικυκλώνει

Η Μύκονος απο το 1885 και μετα

Ο φωτογράφος Jan Willemsen μπορεί να ξέρει περισσότερα πράγματα για τη Μύκονο από ότι όλοι εμείς μαζί. 

Την έχει επισκεφτεί πάρα πολλές φορές και την αγαπάει τόσο πολύ που ανέβασε στον προσωπικό του λογαριασμό στο Flickr φωτογραφίες του κοσμοπολίτικου νησιού από το 1885 μέχρι και σήμερα. Πολλές από αυτές τις φωτογραφίες, μάλιστα, είναι τραβηγμένες από τον ίδιο.
Όπως είναι αναμενόμενο, πολλά πράγματα έχουν αλλάξει για τη Μύκονο από το 1885 μέχρι σήμερα. Τότε, ο κόσμος που κυκλοφορούσε στο νησί ήταν πολύ λιγότερος, οι ανεμόμυλοι πολύ περισσότεροι ενώ δεν υπήρχαν beach bar, ξαπλώστρες στις παραλίες και υπερπολυτελείς βίλες. Σγιά-σιγά η Μύκονος άρχισε να ανακαλύπτεται από τους πρώτους τουρίστες που αγάπησαν την ομορφιά και την ιδιαίτερη αύρα της. Έτσι αρχίζει και αποκτά το νησί περισσότερο κόσμο. Δείτε τις υπέροχες φωτογραφίες και θα την αγαπήσετε ξανά από την αρχή.

Η έντονη κινητικότητα του νησιού ξεκίνησε το 1962 όταν άρχισαν να καταφτάνουν σε αυτό εκατοντάδες τουρίστες. Αυτό που είναι ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον είναι πως εκείνα τα χρόνια, οι λιγοστοί επισκέπτες του νησιού ανήκαν στο διεθνές τζετ-σετ. Αυτό φυσικά το εκμεταλλεύτηκαν οι παράγοντες της Μυκόνου πράγμα που οδήγησε στην σημερινή φήμη της ως διεθνούς exclusive προορισμού. Μάλιστα, οι έξυπνοι Μυκονιάτες είχαν βρει και τον τρόπο να γίνεται γνωστή η Μύκονος παγκοσμίως: είχαν μονίμως έναν φωτογράφο στο λιμάνι με σκοπό να απαθανατίζουν τους επωνύμους καθώς ερχόντουσαν.
Δεν ήθελε και πολύ να εξελιχθεί η Μύκονος σε ένα από τα πιο δημοφιλή νησιά στον κόσμο. Οι μαγευτικές παραλίες της γέμισαν παπαράτσι που περίμεναν να πετύχουν κάποιον επώνυμο. Τα ξέφρενα πάρτι δεν άργησαν να ξεκινήσουν ενώ κάποια στιγμή η Χώρα της Μυκόνου βραβεύτηκε ως ο δεύτερος καθαρότερος προορισμός στην Ευρώπη μετά το Μόντε Κάρλο.

Προς τιμήν των Θεσσαλονικιών που διέσχισαν τον Ατλαντικό 


Εκατό περίπου ναυτικά μίλια πρέπει να «τρέξουν» οι ιστιοπλόοι που θα λάβουν μέρος αύριο, 23 Ιουνίου 2017, στο Κύπελλο Ωκεανοπόρων που διοργανώνει ο Ναυτικός Όμιλος Ανοικτής Θάλασσας (ΝΟΑΘ).
Ο αγώνας έχει καθιερωθεί στη μνήμη της προσπάθειας των
 Ηλία Αντωνιάδη και Τάσου Περυσινάκη
 (ιστιοπλόων της πόλης που δε βρίσκονται πια στη ζωή), οι οποίοι διέσχισαν τον Ατλαντικό αγωνιζόμενοι με κυβερνήτη τον Νότη Μπατσή και πλήρωμα τους Ιορδανίδη Νούλη, Καστερά Μίμη, Μπόζο Γιώργο, Κοσμίδη Σταύρο, Τσαλίκη Άκη και Πασχαλίδη Ντάνυ.
 
 
Ήταν Νοέμβρης του 1992, όταν το σκάφος «BAR-BAR» του Ηλία Αντωνιάδη δηλώνει συμμετοχή στον αγώνα-διάπλου του Ατλαντικού για τα 500 χρόνια από την ανακάλυψη της Αμερικής με το νέο του όνομα «ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΙΚΗ ’97» (σ.σ. το 1997 η Θεσσαλονίκη θα ήταν Πολιτιστική Πρωτεύουσα της Ευρώπης).  «Το όνειρο κάθε ιστιοπλόου είναι να διασχίσει τον ωκεανό. Διαβάσαμε άπειρα βιβλία, επί έξι μήνες προετοιμάζαμε το σκάφος και με την βοήθεια των χορηγών μας ξεκινήσαμε. Ήταν τόσα, μάλιστα, τα τρόφιμα και τα ρούχα που είχαν συγκεντρωθεί που αρκετά τα πετάξαμε στη θάλασσα για να ‘ελαφρύνουμε’ και άλλα τα δώσαμε στο άλλο ελληνικό σκάφος που συμμετείχε από Αθήνα με το όνομα ‘Μακεδονία’» δηλώνει ένας εκ των εμπνευστών της ιδέας, κ. Νούλης Ιορδανίδης.  
 
 
Στον αγώνα συμμετείχαν συνολικά 16 σκάφη από Ισπανία, Ιταλία, Γαλλία, Ελβετία, Η.Π.Α. και τα δυο από Ελλάδα. Ο κυβερνήτης Νότης Μπατσής είχε δηλώσει στην έναρξη του ταξιδιού: «Πηγαίνουμε στην Αμερική που γιορτάζει τα 500 χρόνια της ανακάλυψης της για να μεταφέρουμε στην άλλη άκρη του κόσμου το όνομα της Θεσσαλονίκης μας και τα 2300 χρόνια ιστορίας της». 
 
Παλεύοντας με τον ωκεανό
 
Η εκκίνηση δόθηκε στις 28 Νοεμβρίου και οι αθλητές έπρεπε να διασχίσουν 4500 ναυτικά μίλια ξεκινώντας από το Πάλος ντε λα Φροντέρα της Ισπανίας για να καταλήξουν στο Μαϊάμι της Αμερικής. Η διαδρομή επιφύλασσε για αυτούς νηνεμίες αλλά και βροχές και καταιγίδες. «Φοβηθήκαμε αλλά κανείς δεν το εξέφραζε. Κάναμε τις βάρδιες μας και ανταγωνιζόμασταν ποιος θα κάνει τα περισσότερα μίλια» θυμάται ο κ. Ιορδανίδης. Οι συνθήκες ήταν δύσκολες, αλλά η ομάδα, ενωμένη σαν μια γροθιά, κατάφερε να αντιμετωπίσει τις αντιξοότητες, να ξεπεράσει τα εμπόδια και με δύναμη και αποφασιστικότητα να τερματίσει με ναυτοσύνη στον τελικό προορισμό της, έπειτα από 31 ολόκληρες μέρες: «Μια στραβή κουβέντα όλο αυτό το διάστημα δεν ανταλλάξαμε. Είχαμε και τις ζημιές μας. Έσπασε ένα ρέλι και υπήρξε ράγισμα στην πρύμνη. Για να μην μπαίνει νερό το κολλήσαμε με τσίχλες!».
 
Το πειράγματα κατά τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού δεν έλειπαν, όπως και τα… ευτράπελα: «Κάναμε μπάνιο στην θάλασσα. Ένας από εμάς είχε τρέλα με τα μαλλιά του και είχε πάρει μαζί όσα σαμπουάν μπορούσε. Όταν είχε καταιγίδα, λουζόταν στη βροχή!» λέει στην ThessNews ο κ. Ιορδανίδης. «Ακούγαμε στα βραχέα τις συνομιλίες από άλλα πλοία για μια ώρα τη μέρα. Κυριολεκτικά ακούγαμε τα πάντα! Άλλος μιλούσε με συγγενείς του, άλλος με την γυναίκα του και αμέσως μετά με την… ερωμένη του, κ.α. Ήταν το καφενείο μας». Τελικά, το ελληνικό σκάφος τερμάτισε στις 29 Δεκεμβρίου στο Μαϊάμι, κατακτώντας την τρίτη θέση και τυγχάνοντας θερμής υποδοχής.
 
 
Στο σήμερα
 
Ο κ. Ιορδανίδης δηλώνει ότι θα το ξαναέκανε καθώς, σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο, η ιστιοπλοΐα είναι αγώνας και όχι κρουαζιέρα. Ερωτηθείς για το ποια θάλασσα θεωρεί πιο δύσκολη είναι κατηγορηματικός: «Το Αιγαίο, σίγουρα. Το κύμα είναι ψιλό, κοφτό. Αδύνατο, δηλαδή, να πλεύσεις με τον τρόπο και τα μίλια που κάναμε σε εκείνο το ταξίδι».
 
Ο ίδιος θέλει να έρθει ακόμη περισσότερος κόσμος κοντά στο άθλημα. Ακόμη, σχολιάζοντας στην ThessNews τη δημιουργία μαρίνων και το παραλιακό μέτωπο της πόλης, θεωρεί ότι «είναι απελπιστικό για την Θεσσαλονίκη μας να μην υπάρχουν μαρίνες» και πιστεύει ότι η ιστιοπλοΐα αποτελεί κομμάτι του τουρισμού.
 
Το επαμειβόμενο κύπελλο των Ωκεανοπόρων αθλοθετήθηκε από το 1998 και απονέμεται στον πρώτο νικητή της Γενικής κατάταξης. Είναι μία από τις δύσκολες δοκιμασίες στη θάλασσα καθώς πέρα από τη μεγάλη διαδρομή που πρέπει να καλύψουν με τα σκάφη τα πληρώματα μπορεί να έρθουν αντιμέτωπα με ακραίες καιρικές συνθήκες που μπορεί να προκύψουν σε διάστημα τουλάχιστον 12 ωρών πλεύσης.  Στόχος είναι να μιμηθούν οι αγωνιζόμενοι το ταξίδι που άφησε το δικό του στίγμα στην ιστορία της ιστιοπλοΐας της πόλης και όχι μόνο.
