Michael Buble to host the Brit 

Awards ceremony in 2017

Michael Buble has confirmed he is going to be the new host of the Brit Awards, starting with the 2017 ceremony.

"I belong to the UK. They made me," he told BBC News.

"So to be honoured by being asked to do something like the Brits, it's a privilege, it really is."

Although Buble has been nominated for a Brit three times, he has yet to pick up one of the prizes himself - although he has won numerous Grammy and Juno awards.

"It's a huge honour for me to host such a big night in music," the Canadian singer said in a statement.

"Even though I didn't grow up as a Brit I've always been well aware of the Brit Awards and their impact globally.

"As a fan of music this is the perfect gig. I'm very much looking forward to February and celebrating the success stories of a great year in music."

Brits boss and Sony Music chairman Jason Iley said: "This is a huge coup for the Brit Awards and we are delighted to announce Michael as our host for 2017.

"He is an extremely talented and charismatic world-class entertainer, much loved by the British public.

"Michael will add an exciting element to our show in 2017."

For the past couple of years the awards have been presented by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Previous hosts include Kylie Minogue and RuPaul.

Polish film director Andrzej Wajda dies

Oscar-winning Polish film director Andrzej Wajda has died aged 90, the Polish Filmmakers' Association has confirmed.

He made more than 40 feature films in a career spanning 60 years. 

Many of his films - including Kanal, Man of Marble, Man of Iron and Katyn - were inspired by Poland's turbulent wartime and communist history.

In 2000, Wajda was awarded an honorary Oscar for his contribution to world cinema.

'Be alert to everything'

Wajda had been recently taken to hospital.

Unconfirmed reports say he died of lung failure.

Wajda's last film Powidoki (Afterimage) tells the life story of the avant-garde painter Wladyslaw Strzeminski, who suffered under the post-war Stalinist government in Poland.

The director said he wanted to "warn against state intervention in art". 

The film was recently chosen as Poland's official entry for the best foreign language film at the 2017 Oscars.

Four of Wajda's earlier works had been nominated for that category. Man of Iron won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1981.

Wajda once said that "the good Lord gave the director two eyes - one to look into the camera, the other to be alert to everything that is going on around him."

Wajda was born in 1926 in the north-eastern Polish town of Suwalki.

His father was among the victims of the Katyn massacre of Polish army officers by the Soviet Union in 1940. 

Wajda tried to follow in his father's footsteps, but was rejected by a military academy, and joined the Polish resistance in World War Two.

During World War Two, Wajda joined the Polish resistance. He later studied to be a painter, before entering the Lodz Film School.

In 1955, he made his feature film debut with Generation, set during the German occupation of Warsaw in World War Two. It was followed by Kanal, and Ashes and Diamonds, which form a trilogy about life in wartime Poland.

Some of his films found disfavour with the communist rulers of Poland because of their trenchant portraits of the wartime Warsaw Uprising and the suppression of the Solidarity movement in the 1980s.

It was only after the fall of communism in 1989 that he was able to make his film about Katyn.

"I never thought I would live to see the moment when Poland would be a free country," Wajda said in a 2007 interview with the Associated Press. 

"I thought I would die in that system. It was so surprising and so extraordinary that I lived to see freedom."

Following Poland's first free elections in 1990, he served for two years as a senator in the upper house of parliament.

στο Spetses mini marathon 

Την φετινή διοργάνωση του 6ου Σπέτσες Mini Marathon

 τίμησε με την παρουσία της η διάσημη ηθοποιός του

 Χόλιγουντ Μπο Ντέρεκ.

Η Αμερικανίδα ηθοποιός Μπο Ντέρεκ έγινε διάσημη στα τέλη της δεκαετίας 

του ’70, ως πρωταγωνίστρια της ταινίας «10» και η σκηνή με το μαγιό στην

 παραλία έμεινε στην ιστορία ως μία από τις πιο… hot της εποχής εκείνης.

Τριάντα έξι χρόνια μετά, η 59χρονη πλέον ηθοποιός φόρεσε ξανά το μαγιό της

 (παρά το πέρασμα των χρόνων η εμφάνισή της παραμένει εντυπωσιακή) και πήρε

 μέρος στον κολυμβητικό μαραθώνιο των 3χλμ που έγινε το Σάββατο στην Ελλάδα

 και συγκεκριμένα στις Σπέτσες. Ο καιρός δεν ήταν σύμμαχος της διάσημης

 ηθοποιού, αλλά έστω και με καθυστέρηση έφτασε στον τερματισμό, δείχνοντας

 πως βρίσκεται σε άριστη φυσική κατάσταση…

«'Εχει ξανάρθει. Τότε μας είχε ζητήσει να είμαστε πολύ αυστηροί με την

 ιδιωτικότητα της και το σεβαστήκαμε απόλυτα, όπως και τώρα το σεβόμαστε

 με πολλούς ανθρώπους που έρχονται. Της άρεσε πολύ και είναι μεγάλη της χαρά 

που ξαναέρχεται, όπως και μας.

Με την παρουσία της αναδεικνύει την διοργάνωση και στο εξωτερικό και σε

 διεθνούς φήμης προσωπικότητες συνομιλώντας για αυτό με άλλους ηθοποιούς,

 όπως η Ρίτα Γουίλσον και ο σύζυγος της, Τομ Χανκς. Πιστεύουμε θα περάσει

 πάρα πολύ ωραία. Ξέρουμε πως έχει προπονηθεί πάρα πολύ και της ευχόμαστε 

καλή επιτυχία», δήλωσε η ιδρύτρια και πρόεδρος του Σπέτσες Mini Marathon

 Μαρίνα Κουταρέλλη.

Η γνωστή  ηθοποιός ανέβασε φωτό απο την προπόνησή της πριν φθάσει στις Σπέτσες.

Η φωτογραφία που ανέβασε στο instagram σήμανε την αρχή της προπόνησής της γι

α τον κολυμβητικό αγώνα στον οποίο θα συμμετάσχει. Μάλιστα αυτός ο αγώνας

 είναι ο μεγαλύτερος αγώνας ανοιχτής θάλασσας στην Ευρώπη.

”Είσαι φανταστική” της σχολίασε στη φωτογραφία η Rita Wilson, η σύζυγος

 του Tom Hanks ενώ η Bo δήλωσε ότι ανυπομονεί για τη στιγμή που θα πιει

 ούζο και θα φάει ελληνικό φαγητό από τα χέρια των γυναικών από τις Σπέτσες.
