Bond's Spectre breaks box office records
Spectre, the 24th James Bond adventure, has broken all-time box office records in nearly every market in which it has been released so far.
Its UK launch set a new record for movies released on a Monday - as opposed to a Friday - taking more than £41m in its first week.
It beat previous Monday release record holder, 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which took £23.8m.
Records were also set in the Norway, the Netherlands, Finland and Denmark.
Spectre took $80.4m (£52.1m) in all six released territories.
'Achingly cool'
"We're so grateful to all our James Bond fans," producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said.
Skyfall, the previous Bond movie, was the highest-grossing 007 film in the franchise's history, taking £700m ($1.1 bn) worldwide.
Craig's fourth outing as 007 has received widespread critical acclaim, with one saluting it as "pure action mayhem".
The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw described the film in his five-star review as "terrifically exciting, spectacular [and] uproariously entertaining".
The Times said Sam Mendes' film was "achingly cool", while The Independent said it was "every bit the equal of its predecessor", 2012 release Skyfall.
Spectre also broke opening-day UK box office records after taking £6.3 million by Tuesday.
It opened in 647 cinemas on 2500 screens in the UK, making it the widest release of all time in the UK and Ireland.
"What an incredible thrill it is for us at MGM to see how James Bond continues to deliver such excitement to his fans," said Gary Barber, MGM Chairman and CEO.
Peter Taylor, managing director of Sony Pictures UK, added: "We are delighted that audiences in the UK and Ireland continue to embrace these stories about one of our biggest and best cultural icons."
The movie opens in the US on 6 November where it is expected to top the box office, after a Halloween weekend of flops.
Sandra Bullock's Our Brand is Crisis, and Bradley Cooper's Burnt brought in an underwhelming $3.3m (£2.1m) and $5.1m (£3.3m) respectively.
Jurassic World has been this year's biggest film so far, bringing in more than £1bn worldwide.

Article 21

New Star Trek TV series to premiere in 2017
A new Star Trek television series will launch in January 2017, CBS has announced.
According to the show's website, it "will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations".
The hugely successful show franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016.
"There is no better time to give Star Trek fans a new series," said David Stapf, president of CBS TV studios.
Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote and produced the blockbuster films Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) will serve as executive producer for the series.
"Everyone here has great respect for this franchise and we're excited to launch its next television chapter in the creative mind and skilled hands of Alex Kurtzman, someone who knows this world and its audience intimately," added Stapf.
The series will begin with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network before running exclusively on CBS All Access, the network's digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.
It is also expected to be distributed around the world by CBS Studios International.
The original Star Trek spawned a dozen feature films and five television series, and is still licensed on platforms across over 190 countries.
According to StarTrek.com the franchise still generates more than a billion social media impressions every month.
The new series is not related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond, to be released in summer 2016.

Trevi fountain in Rome: Iconic monument renovated
Water is once more cascading from the world famous Trevi fountain in the Italian capital Rome after it underwent a 17-month €2.2m (£1.6m) renovation.
The fountain, nearly 300 years old, is visited by millions of tourists every year.
But its poor structural condition was exposed in 2012 when bits of its elaborate cornice began falling off after an especially harsh winter.
The fountain became famous in 1960 with the release of the film La Dolce Vita.
In the film a voluptuous Anita Ekberg wades through its pristine waters - her hopelessly infatuated male co-star in her wake - in what critics say is one of the enduring cinematic images of the 20th Century.
A team of 26 restorers have not only given the fountain a thorough cleaning, they have stopped it from crumbling away.
They have repaired cracks and steel supports with the aim of avoiding a repeat of the incident in 2012 when pieces of the fountain came crashing down.
Water once more tumbles from the base of the fountain's sea-god scene and new lighting shows off its gleaming Baroque facade.
The repairs have been paid for by the Italian fashion house Fendi, founded as a leather goods business in Rome in the 1920s and now part of French luxury giant LVMH. It agreed a deal which allows it to hang a plaque near the monument for four years.
The company has also spent €320,000 cleaning up the city's lesser known Le Quattro Fontane (Four Fountains).
The Trevi fountain
- Commissioned by Pope Clement XII in 1730
- Last restored 23 years ago, it is the end point of one of the aqueducts that supplied ancient Rome with water
- The Acqua Vergine runs for a total of 20km (12 miles) before flowing into the fountain
- Tourists can drink from a special tap tucked away at one side
- According to legend, the water source was discovered in 19 BC by thirsty Roman soldiers directed to the site by a young virgin - which is why it is called Virgin Waters
- The tradition of throwing coins into the fountain was made famous by Frank Sinatra's Three Coins in the Fountain in the 1954 romantic comedy of the same name
