One of the first people to meet Kate Middleton and Prince William's third baby isn't even part of the royal family

• Kate Middleton's hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker will probably be one of the first people to meet the third royal baby.
• Aside from his parents, Cook Tucker was the second person to meet Prince George, behind the doctor that delivered him.
• The hairstylist is already on standby to prepare Middleton for visitors and photographs immediately after the birth of her child.

Amanda Cook Tucker will probably be one of the first people to meet the next royal baby. No, she's not a long-lost member of the royal family—she's Kate Middleton's personal hairdresser. 

The Duchess of Cambridge is well known for her pricy princess mane. But she didn't just wake up like this—her go-to hairdresser, Cook Tucker, is often on call to provide the blowout necessary to make her lustrous locks rom-com-worthy. 

The hairstylist, who has maintained Prince William and Prince Harry's hairdos since they were young, is reportedly on standby for the day that Middleton gives birth to her third child. She did not, however, give Prince William his infamous buzz cut, so she can be trusted. 

As part of Middleton's glam squad, she was the second person, aside from his parents, to meet Prince George. First up was Sir Marcus Setchell, the doctor who delivered him. Cook Tucker was called into the hospital's luxe Lindo Wing right after both Prince George and Princess Charlotte were born, to prepare the Duchess for visitors and photographs. In both cases, Cook Tucker had spent time with the royal babies even before Carole and Michael Middleton had the chance to meet their grandchildren.

Cook Tucker was first photographed arriving at the Singapore airport with the royal family in 2012 and is now regularly snapped traveling with them. She also accompanied Prince William and Middleton on their week-long tour of India in 2016, when they visited Mumbai, Delhi, Assam, Bhutan and Agra. She also voyaged to Sweden and Norway with the royals earlier this year. 

These days, giving birth requires having a makeup artist and hairstylist on call. "Glam before giving birth" is a popular Google search term, turning up articles on getting glamorous for the delivery room. Some women call hair and makeup squads into the hospital with them, opting for a post-baby blow-out; others settle on a DIY approach, going as far as to apply a full face of makeup while in labor (that's dedication). 

Devoted fans have been camping outside of the hospital's Lindo Wing for days to prepare for a glimpse of Middleton's third child, so they certainly deserve a memorable social media moment, complete with a beautiful blowout.

ΛΕΠΤΟΜΈΡΕΙΕΣ ΕΚΔΉΛΩΣΗΣ

Υπό την αιγίδα του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης έχουν τεθεί οι τριήμερες εκδηλώσεις που διοργανώνει o Σύνδεσμος Φυλακισθέντων και Εξορισθέντων Αντιστασιακών (Σ.Φ.Ε.Α.) 1967-1974 με τη συμμετοχή και άλλων δημόσιων και κοινωνικών φορέων στις 21, 22 και 23 Απριλίου 2018 στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Οι εκδηλώσεις πραγματοποιούνται με αφορμή  τη συμπλήρωση 51 χρόνων από το χουντικό πραξικόπημα της 21ης Απριλίου 1967 και την επτάχρονη δικτατορία των συνταγματαρχών.

Οι φετινές εκδηλώσεις του Συνδέσμου στη Θεσσαλονίκη αφορούν στο καθεστώς της ασφυκτικής λογοκρισίας, προληπτικής και κατασταλτικής, που επέβαλε η δικτατορία στον Τύπο, την Εκπαίδευση και σε κάθε εκδοχή πνευματικής και καλλιτεχνικής ζωής στη χώρα.

Στις εκδηλώσεις συμμετέχουν επίσης η Βουλή των Ελλήνων, το Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Έρευνας και Θρησκευμάτων, το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, το Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος, το Μορφωτικό Ίδρυμα της Ένωσης Συντακτών Ημερησίων Εφημερίδων Μακεδονίας-Θράκης και το Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης.

Συνέντευξη Τύπου- Παρουσίαση του συνοπτικού Τοπικού Σχεδίου 

ένταξης προσφύγων – μεταναστών του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης

Το συνοπτικό Τοπικό Σχέδιο ένταξης προσφύγων – μεταναστών του Ευρωπαϊκού Προγράμματος URBACT III – Arrival Cities, παρουσιάστηκε σε συνέντευξη Τύπου που πραγματοποιήθηκε σήμερα, Πέμπτη 19 Απριλίου 2018, στο Δημαρχείο Θεσσαλονίκης.

Το σχέδιο εκπονήθηκε με την ευκαιρία της ολοκλήρωσης υλοποίησης της Β΄ φάσης (3 Μαΐου 2016 – 3 Μαΐου 2018) του Προγράμματος, με χρηματοδότηση του Ευρωπαϊκού Περιφερειακού Ταμείου. Η Α΄ φάση διήρκησε έξι μήνες (15 Σεπτεμβρίου 2015 – 15 Μαρτίου 2016) και υλοποιήθηκε από το Τμήμα Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής και Ισότητας των Φύλων του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης.

Ο Αντιδήμαρχος Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής και Αλληλεγγύης, Πέτρος Λεκάκης, επισήμανε ότι ο Δήμος Θεσσαλονίκης από το 2015, με πρωτοβουλία του Δημάρχου και της τότε Αντιδημάρχου, Καλυψώς Γούλα, πρωτοστάτησε  στη διαχείριση της κρίσης του προσφυγικού ζητήματος. «Είμαστε υπερήφανοι ως διοίκηση γιατί σε μια περίοδο που ο Δήμος δεν είχε έρθει ακόμη αντιμέτωπος με τη μεγάλη πρόκληση των προσφυγικών ροών, λάβαμε μέτρα για την κρίση την οποία βλέπαμε ότι ερχόταν, αλλά και γιατί ψηφίσαμε στο Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο το ολοκληρωμένο σχέδιο ένταξης προσφύγων και μεταναστών σε τοπικό επίπεδο. Επίσης μπορούμε να υπερηφανευόμαστε για την εξέλιξη του προγράμματος REACT, που χρηματοδοτείται από την Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για του πρόσφυγες, η οποία βοήθησε  τόσο στην αξιοπρεπή διαβίωση των προσφύγων όσο και την κίνηση της  κτηματομεσιτικής αγοράς».

Ο Πέτρος Λεκάκης έκανε ιδιαίτερη αναφορά στις δημοτικές δομές, όπως το Συμβούλιο Ένταξης Μεταναστών, το Κέντρο Ένταξης Μεταναστών μαζί με τα Κέντρα Κοινότητας, καθώς και το Φιλοξενείο Αιτούντων Άσυλο: «Στόχος μας, ως επόμενο βήμα πέραν της φιλοξενίας και της καλής διαβίωσης των μεταναστών, είναι η ένταξή τους στην τοπική κοινωνία, με την αντίληψη ότι ζούμε σε μια χώρα εν μέσω οικονομικής κρίσης και σε μια πόλη με υψηλά ποσοστά ανεργίας. Τέλος, ο Αντιδήμαρχος σχολίασε τις πρόσφατα αυξητικές προσφυγικές ροές στην πόλη της Θεσσαλονίκης, λέγοντας: «Είμαστε σε επιφυλακή και σε συνεργασία με όλους τους εμπλεκόμενους φορείς, προκειμένου να αντιμετωπίσουμε το πρόβλημα».

Η εντεταλμένη δημοτική σύμβουλος για τη στήριξη και την κοινωνική ένταξη προσφύγων και μεταναστών και Πρόεδρος του ΣΕΜ, Σοφία Ασλανίδου, αναφέρθηκε στη λειτουργία του Συμβουλίου Ένταξης Μεταναστών και στις πρωτοβουλίες της διοίκησης του Δήμου για την αναβάθμισή του.  «Λάβαμε σημαντικές πρωτοβουλίες που αφορούν στην καθημερινότητα των προσφύγων, λόγω της κατάστασης που διαμορφώθηκε στην πόλη και στη χώρα μας γενικότερα. Κάνουμε τακτικές συνεδριάσεις και έχουμε άριστη συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Μεταναστευτικής Πολιτικής, καθώς και με φορείς της πόλης, ενώ εντάξαμε στο συμβούλιο και εκπροσώπους των προσφύγων».

»Το ευαίσθητο αυτό ζήτημα αφορά πολλούς τομείς, όπως είναι η κοινωνική πολιτική, η εκπαίδευση, το οικιστικό, η ψυχολογική και συμβουλευτική υποστήριξη, γι’ αυτό και συνεργαζόμαστε με όλες τις υπηρεσίες του Δήμου, δημιουργώντας παράλληλα ένα δίκτυο συνεργασιών και με άλλους δήμους και κοινωνικούς φορείς της χώρας, ώστε να αντιμετωπίσουμε εμπεριστατωμένα το προσφυγικό ζήτημα», κατέληξε η κ. Ασλανίδου.

Η Υπεύθυνη υλοποίησης του Ευρωπαϊκού Προγράμματος URBACT III – Arrival Cities και προϊσταμένη του Τμήματος Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής και Ισότητας των Φύλων του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης, Βιργινία Πολίτη, αναφερόμενη στην εκπόνηση του σχεδίου, σημείωσε: «Το διετές διακρατικό Ευρωπαϊκό Πρόγραμμα αποτέλεσε το κύτταρο από το οποίο προήλθε η πολιτική βούληση που αναπτύχθηκε για να ξεκινήσουν οι υπηρεσιακές διαδικασίες. Ο σκοπός της Α΄ φάσης ήταν η δημιουργία τοπικής ομάδας εργασίας που ξεκίνησε με πρωτοβουλία του Δήμου και στην οποία συμμετείχαν οι φορείς της πόλης που διαχειρίζονταν τις προσφυγικές ροές, καθώς και η κοινωνία των πολιτών. Στη Β΄ φάση στοχεύσαμε στα αποτελέσματα από την λειτουργία της συγκεκριμένης ομάδας εργασίας και στη διαβούλευση κατάρτισης ενός σχεδίου για την πόλη σχετικά με τη διαχείριση των μεταναστευτικών ροών, με αρωγούς όλα τα δημοτικά όργανα, το ΣΕΜ, το ΚΕΜ  και τα Κέντρα Κοινότητας. Το τοπικό σχέδιο που εκπονήθηκε και εγκρίθηκε από το Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο είναι μια δυναμική διεργασία κοινωνικής ένταξης που εξελίσσεται διαρκώς, κατόπιν διαβούλευσης με τους φορείς της πόλης».

Οι  σκοποί και οι άξονες της διαμόρφωσης του συνοπτικού τοπικού σχεδίου ένταξης προσφύγων – μεταναστών, σύμφωνα με τη συντονίστρια του προγράμματος Arrival Cities, Meriç Özgüneş, είναι:

• Η ανάπτυξη των απαραιτήτων διοικητικών δομών και υπηρεσιών, οι οποίες θα υπάγονται στη δικαιοδοσία του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης
• Η ενίσχυση των υπηρεσιών αυτών μέσω συντονισμού με άλλους κύριους εθνικούς και διεθνείς φορείς
• Η διαμόρφωση ενός δυναμικού πλαισίου που θα επιτρέπει την ένταξη και συμπερίληψη των προσφύγων, αιτούντων άσυλο και μεταναστών στην πόλη και στην ελληνική κοινωνία, με σεβασμό στη διαφορετικότητα και σε συνεργασία με φορείς της Κοινωνίας των Πολιτών
• Η υιοθέτηση και προώθηση μιας προσέγγισης βασισμένης στα δικαιώματα όπου παλιές και νέες μεταναστευτικές κοινότητες θα απολαμβάνουν τα θεμελιώδη δικαιώματά τους και θα ενθαρρύνονται να συμμετάσχουν στη ζωή της πόλης

Η Meriç Özgüneş ανέφερε, τέλος, ότι έχει ήδη ξεκινήσει έρευνα καταγραφής του προφίλ των προσφύγων και των μεταναστών από 15 συνεργαζόμενους φορείς που επιβλέπει ο Δήμος Θεσσαλονίκης, βάσει της οποίας θα συμπληρωθούν ερωτηματολόγια από 1.500 πρόσφυγες όλων των κατηγοριών (αιτούντες άσυλο, διαμένοντες σε διαμερίσματα ή camps κά).

8ο Φεστιβάλ Παιδικών – Νεανικών Χορωδιών

Πάνω από 1.000παιδιά και νέοι θα περάσουν από τη σκηνή του Μεγάρου Μουσικής Θεσσαλονίκηςτο τετραήμερο 26-29 Απριλίου 2018, για το 8ο Φεστιβάλ Παιδικών – Νεανικών Χορωδιών. Ο επιτυχημένος θεσμός του Μεγάρου, μια μεγάλη διοργάνωση που προάγει τις αξίες της συνεργασίας, της ομαδικότητας και της συμμετοχής, θα δώσει φέτος βήμα σε περισσότερα από 20 χορωδιακά σχήματααπό όλη την Ελλάδα, που θα παρουσιάσουν τη δουλειά τους αλλά και θα συμπράξουν σε ενδιαφέρουσες δράσεις και συναυλίες. Ξεχωριστές στιγμές του Φεστιβάλ, η συναυλία του Νότη Μαυρουδή, το χορωδιακό εργαστήρι αυτοσχεδιασμού με την Ceren Oran (Τζερέν Οράν) και η παρουσίαση των Carmina Buranaυπό τη μουσική διεύθυνση του Μύρωνα Μιχαηλίδη.

Η τέταρτη μέρα του Φεστιβάλεπιφυλάσσει δύο ιδιαίτερες εκδηλώσεις: ένα χορωδιακό εργαστήρι αυτοσχεδιασμού που θα μας συστήσει τη διαδικασία του soundpaintingκαι μία συναυλία με τα περίφημα Carmina Buranaσε μια σπάνια διασκευή.

Α’ μέρος

Το soundpainting, σχετικά άγνωστο στην Ελλάδα, είναι μια παγκόσμια διαθεματική νοηματική γλώσσα για μουσικούς, ηθοποιούς, χορευτές και εικαστικούς. Πρόκειται για μια διαδικασία κατά την οποία ο soundpainter συνθέτει ζωντανά και δημιουργεί το έργο σε πραγματικό χρόνο, δίνοντας με τα χέρια και το σώμα του κατευθύνσεις στους συμμετέχοντες και εισπράττοντας απ’ αυτούς τις αντιδράσεις και την ανταπόκρισή τους. Το soundpainting εναρμονίζει πολλές τέχνες μαζί και λόγω της παγκοσμιότητάς του απευθύνεται στους πάντες: από νήπια μέχρι ενήλικες και από ερασιτέχνες έως επαγγελματίες. Ακόμη, είναι προφανές πως δεν έχει καμία σημασία αν οι συμμετέχοντες δεν μιλούν την ίδια γλώσσα, ή αν είναι άτομα με αναπηρίες κλπ. Έτσι, βρίσκει εφαρμογές ως καλλιτεχνικό και εκπαιδευτικό εργαλείο εκτός των άλλων σε προσφυγικούς καταυλισμούς, σχολεία ενσωμάτωσης, νηπιαγωγεία, πρώτες σχολικές τάξεις, ερασιτεχνικές θεατρικές ομάδες, χορωδίες. Το soundpainting δεν ακολουθεί τον συνήθη ρόλο της εκπαίδευσης, που είναι να μάθει σε κάποιον να εκτελεί κάτι σωστά – αντιθέτως δίνει τη δυνατότητα στους συμμετέχοντες να σκέφτονται και να αντιδρούν ελεύθερα και βέβαια να κάνουν λάθη, τα οποία ενσωματώνουν στο τελικό έργο. Το σύστημα αυτό επινοήθηκε τη δεκαετία του ’70 από τον Walter Thompson. 

Σήμερα μία από τους πλέον αναγνωρισμένους soundpainters παγκοσμίως είναι η πολυσχιδής καλλιτέχνις Ceren Oran (Τζερέν Οράν) από την Τουρκία, η οποία εδώ και χρόνια ζει και εργάζεται στην Αυστρία και τη Γερμανία. Στο χορωδιακό εργαστήρι αυτοσχεδιασμού που θα διευθύνει κατά τη διάρκεια του Φεστιβάλ και θα παρουσιάσει επί σκηνής την τελευταία ημέρα, συμμετέχουν:

Ο Γερμανός συνθέτης Carl Orff (1895-1982) συνέθεσε το 1936 το γνωστότερο έργο του, την καντάτα Carmina Burana, μελοποιώντας 24 κομμάτια από την ομώνυμη μεσαιωνική συλλογή ποιημάτων του 13ου αιώνα, που ήταν γραμμένη σε μια δημώδη λατινική γλώσσα με στοιχεία πρώιμων γερμανικών και γαλλικών. Ο συνθέτης κατάφερε να αποδώσει το μεσαιωνικό ύφος και τα Carmina Buranaκέρδισαν μεγάλη δημοφιλία, ενώ χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ως υπόκρουση σε πολλές κινηματογραφικές ταινίες αλλά και σε... πολιτικές συγκεντρώσεις. 

Στις 29 Απριλίου στο Μέγαρο θα ακούσουμε μια αρκετά σπάνια διασκευή για σολίστες, χορωδία, κρουστά και δύο πιάνα, την οποία έκανε ο ίδιος ο Orff το 1956, είκοσι χρόνια μετά τη σύνθεση του έργου, θέλοντας να διευκολύνει την παρουσίασή του από σχολεία και χορωδίες, καθώς σ’ αυτήν δεν υπάρχει η συμμετοχή ορχήστρας. Η διασκευή αυτή, η οποία ουσιαστικά κρατά απαράλλακτα τα φωνητικά, τα χορωδιακά και τα μέρη των κρουστών και αντικαθιστά την ορχήστρα με δύο πιάνα, κατά γενική ομολογία δεν στερεί τίποτε από τη δύναμη και την ομορφιά του έργου.

Η μουσική διεύθυνση είναι του Μύρωνα Μιχαηλίδη, ο οποίος σήμερα κατέχει τη θέση του γενικού μουσικού διευθυντή (Generalmusikdirektor) στην Όπερα και τη Φιλαρμονική Ορχήστρα της Ερφούρτης της Γερμανίας.

Flämmli

After a long day of skiing, you deserve caffeine, fire, and alcohol—at the same time.

 

After hitting the slopes in Leysin, a quaint town nestled in the Swiss Alps, skiers warm and reenergize themselves in nearby mountainside cafes. If they’re particularly cold or exhausted, they may opt for a flämmli. Perhaps the epitome of après-ski treats, this triple-whammy offers the jolt of coffee, the heat of a cozy fireplace, and the buzz of sweet liqueur all rolled into one. And if it’s your first time, you’ll need to follow the instructions for correctly drinking the hands-on, multi-step beverage. Failure to do so may result in the loss of an eyebrow.

You’ll begin with a small cup of espresso and a bowl of sugar cubes. Spoon in three lumps of sugar, but don’t stir. Gently sip your coffee, leaving any residual, undissolved sugar sitting on the bottom. See that shot of William’s pear schnapps on the table? Pour that into the almost-empty cup. Now, place a sugar cube on your spoon and quickly dip it into the alcohol so that it pools in the center. Grab a lighter, set the spoon on fire, and drop it back into your drink. Sit back and watch it all dance in flames.

Take a minute to enjoy the fire and warm your hands. Once the sugars caramelize, it’s time to return the schnapps to its original glass. Simply pour the booze back while it’s still on fire. Don’t try and blow it out, unless you’re prepared for a fire-breathing dragon effect. Rather, you’ll stifle the flames by hand.

Keeping your palm flat, create a vacuum seal around the rim of the cup. This should extinguish the flames. Once the thrill has worn off, release your hand, bring the cup to your nose, and inhale. Then drink up. Whoever worried themselves with the dangers of mixing caffeine and alcohol obviously failed to consider the fool-proof magic of adding fire.

Need to Know

Flämmli is served in cafes around Leysin. Be warned: If the circumference of the cup is greater than your palm, you'll burn your hand when smothering the flames.

 This Mysterious Metal 

Mirror

Made in Kerala, the “Aranmula kannadi” won’t distort your reflection.

IN ARANMULA, KERALA, A HERITAGE village on the banks of the Pamba river, a group of skilled, metal-casting artisans spend their days in hot and dusty workshops, crafting metal mirrors, a tradition that goes back 500 years.

For centuries, the craftsmen, who belong to the Vishwakarma community, have been working in the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. It is one of the oldest temples in South India, dedicated to Lord Krishna, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. Originally, these artisans were known for creating exquisite bronze idols of deities. But around 500 years ago, they handcrafted a special mirror known as the Aranmula kannadi, which surpassed the idols as their most famous product. The mirror is made from a copper-tin alloy with trace elements. To this day, the composition remains a closely guarded secret, passed from one generation to the next.

It is believed that keeping an Aranmula kannadi in the house brings prosperity and luck to the owner. For this reason, it is given as a gift during weddings and housewarming ceremonies. People are typically intrigued that a mirror made of alloy has reflective properties like a plane glass mirror, and also surprised that the alloy is brittle.

As historical information related to the origins of the mirror are sketchy and unreliable, the legends have become the story told about these unique artifacts.

According to the main legend, centuries ago, the high priest of the temple noticed a crack on the crown of the deity. The King ordered the craftsmen to make a new crown in three days. The craftsmen were worried, as they didn’t have the requisite raw material. The head craftsman’s wife prayed and had a dream, in which the deity appeared and gave her the secret proportion for creating an alloy that would shine like a mirror. The next day, the women of the community surrendered their gold ornaments. The men sold them to buy the raw material and a crown was made. It shone bright, and when polished, showed reflective properties like a mirror. The crown was called the kannadi bhimbom (mirror image).

The King was pleased. The artisans then created a vaal kannadi (hand-held mirror) using a similar composition, which was popular with Kerala’s royalty and aristocracy. The King decreed that the mirror be part of the ashtamangalyam set, a brass plate featuring eight auspicious items that is used in religious rites.

The uniqueness of the Aranmula kannadi is that it is front-reflecting, unlike plane glass mirrors where reflection takes place on the back surface of the glass, where the reflective coating is applied. In plane mirrors, light travels through the glass and back, so it gets refracted and changes direction. This can cause aberration or distortion of the image, and this distortion can vary depending on the quality of the reflective coating. In the case of the Aranmula kannadi, the light does not penetrate into any refractive medium like glass: The reflection is on the top metal surface.

In a thatched-roof workshop, with the summer sun bearing down and the fire from the furnace raising the temperature several degrees, the artisans toil, focused on their tasks. The process of crafting the mirror starts with the making of the alloy. The next step is molding, then casting the mold with the alloy in the furnace stoked by a fire. The molds are cooled and then broken, to reveal the rudimentary mirror that is formed from the molten alloy. This is then cut, filed, polished, and finally mounted on a brass frame. The entire process is time consuming and painstakingly done.

Creating the mirror is a relatively green process. The material used is eco-friendly and obtained locally. There is minimum waste and most of the material is recycled, as the mold bits can be ground again, and the alloy pieces re-melted.

Not long ago, the craft was languishing. According to Pazhani Gopakumar, secretary of the Viswabrahmana Aranmula Metal Mirror Nirman Society, which is a society of artisans, there was no patronage and no promotion of the product. In the past 15 years, however, there has been a slow revival. The society is creating awareness of the product, in craft fairs and exhibitions outside Kerala.

Sheela Chandrachudan, an 81-year-old musician who is passionate about Indian crafts, owns a big kannadi, and has had it for the past 35 years. It occupies a place of pride in her home. Having moved several times over the years, she says, it is still in perfect condition. She laments the fact that many people from Kerala don’t know about the mirror’s cultural existence. She treasures her piece, now a family heirloom, and plans to pass the possession down to one of her daughters.

Aranmula kannadis are expensive. A small three-inch mirror costs, at a minimum, Rs. 3,000 (around $50). The price can go up to Rs. 100,000 (around $1,550) depending on the size of the mirror. Since they are expensive, cheaper fakes are flooding the market. These are made with tin sheets, and for a buyer, it can be difficult to discern if it is a genuine piece or a fake.

But like a plane glass mirror, this metal mirror does break. So for a non-expert, the only way of knowing if their mirror is genuine, and not a counterfeit tin version, is to drop it. If it breaks, well, it was a genuine mirror.

Βιομηχανική κάνναβη – Μια «γνωστή» καλλιέργεια σε «νέα» διαδρομή, προοπτικές και χρήσεις
Με τη συνεργασία του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου Θεσσαλονίκης, του Βρετανικού Συμβουλίου και του ΝΟΗΣΙΣ συνεχίζεται για δέκατη τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά η πραγματοποίηση των «Καφέ της Επιστήμης», που όπως πάντα, σας προσκαλούν να συζητήσετε με τους ειδικούς επιστημονικά ζητήματα που ενδιαφέρουν. Το θέμα του επόμενου Καφέ αφορά στη βιομηχανική κάνναβη, τις προοπτικές και τις χρήσεις της.
Η βιομηχανική κάνναβη ανήκει στα ελαιούχα – κλωστικά φυτά που προσαρμόζεται στις περιβαλλοντικές συνθήκες της χώρας μας και χρησιμοποιείται από τη νεολιθική περίοδο για την παραγωγή πλήθους προϊόντων και υποπροϊόντων Στη χώρα μας, η κάνναβη καλλιεργούνταν για αιώνες για την παραγωγή σκοινιών και υφασμάτων -την πρώτη αναφορά μάλιστα σε αυτήν συναντάμε στον Ηρόδοτο το 450 π.X. Στα μέσα του 20ου αιώνα, η κάνναβη αποτελούσε βασική γεωργική καλλιέργεια και εξαγώγιμο προϊόν για την Ελλάδα και στην ελληνική επικράτεια λειτουργούσαν αρκετά κανναβουργεία που επεξεργάζονταν την ίνα για τη δημιουργία σχοινιών. Τη δεκαετία του 1950 απαγορεύτηκε η καλλιέργεια και σταδιακά παρήκμασε η σχετική μεταποιητική βιομηχανία αλλά από το 2016, επιτράπηκε στη χώρα μας και πάλι η καλλιέργεια ποικιλιών με χαμηλή περιεκτικότητα στη ψυχοτρόπο τετραϋδροκανναβινόλη και υπάρχει έντονο ενδιαφέρον για την επέκταση της καλλιέργειας.
Στην ομιλία θα περιγραφούν τόσο τα πλεονεκτήματα της επαναεισαγωγής της καλλιέργειας στην Ελλάδα όσο και τα τελικά προϊόντα χρήσης που καλύπτουν ένα ευρύ φάσμα εφαρμογών στην διατροφή, φαρμακευτική, δόμηση, κλωστουφαντουργία και χαρτοβιομηχανία.

KOHANAIKI CLUB

Το  ιδιωτικό club των εκατομμυριούχων του πλανήτη

1.850 στρέμματα ακραίου πλούτου στις ηφαιστειογενείς παραλίες της Χαβάης 

Αν και τα τελευταία χρόνια οι κάτοικοι των δυτικών Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών δείχνουν τη σαφή προτίμηση τους στις μεξικάνικες ακτογραμμές, με το Hollywood να «ψηφίζει» Los Cabos, το μεγάλο νησί της Χαβάης με τις ηφαιστειογενείς κοραλλένιες του παραλίες, στη δυτική του πλευρά, τείνει να γίνει το παραμυθένιο «σημείο» συνάντησης των εκατομμυριούχων του πλανήτη και εκτός Αμερικής. Κι αυτό, γιατί ναι μεν μαγευτικές περιοχές για διακοπές και ψυχαγωγία υπάρχουν και σε πολλά άλλα σημεία του πλανήτη αλλά οι τοπικές αρχές της Χαβάης προσφέρουν ένα σωρό κίνητρα για να προσελκύουν εύπορους τουρίστες ή τις επενδύσεις για να τους φιλοξενούν.
Επιπλέον, οι σχετικά σταθερές κλιματολογικές συνθήκες που επικρατούν στο νησί και ο μεγάλος αριθμός πτήσεων από το εξωτερικό, μετά τον εκσυγχρονισμό του αεροδρομίου και την καλή κατάσταση του οδικού δικτύου, αποτελούν πόλο έλξης 8 εκατομμυρίων τουριστών το χρόνο, ένα νούμερο που αφορά όλα τα νησιά της Χαβάης.

Σε πολλές από τις περιοχές του μεγάλου νησιού, οι τοπικές αρχές ενθάρρυναν την αγορά δημοσίων εκτάσεων από μεγάλες επιχειρήσεις και ιδιώτες, στοχεύοντας σε υψηλό ποιοτικά τουριστικό προϊόν, με αποτέλεσμα να δημιουργηθούν μεγάλα οικιστικά clubs και κοινότητες πραγματικών εκατομμυριούχων του πλανήτη. Ένα από αυτά τα πολύ κλειστά ελιτίστικα clubs, έκτασης 1.850 στρεμμάτων, είναι το περίφημο Kohanaiki πολύ κοντά στην πόλη -και φημισμένο παραθεριστικό κέντρο- Kailua-Kona, στη δυτική ακτογραμμή του νησιού.

Με ετήσια συνδρομή που φτάνει τα 25.000 δολάρια (χωρίς αυτή, η παραμονή στο club κοστίζει… $150.000), το Kohanaiki προσφέρει στους πολύ εύπορους φιλοξενούμενους του τον απόλυτο παράδεισο διακοπών, ο οποίος, εκτός των πολλών άλλων, δίνει τη δυνατότητα αγοράς πολυτελών εξοχικών κατοικιών, είτε έτοιμων και εφοδιασμένων με όλες τις luxury ανέσεις είτε προκατασκευασμένων, με επιλογή των νέων ιδιοκτητών τους να τα επιπλώσουν και να τα διαμορφώσουν σύμφωνα με τα γούστα τους, τηρώντας όμως κάποιους κανόνες αισθητικής και αρχιτεκτονικής που θέτει το club.
Το Kohanaiki, στο οποίο εκτός από το οικονομικό γίνεται κάποιος δεκτός έπειτα από πρόσκληση κάποιου άλλου μέλους, διαθέτει κοντά στις 400 πολυτελείς εξοχικές κατοικίες (αρκετές από αυτές είναι απλά οριοθετημένες) που ξεκινούν από τα 195 τετραγωνικά μέτρα και φτάνουν έως και τα 650, ενώ βέβαια υπάρχουν και καμιά 10αριά πολύ «βαριές» περιπτώσεις ακραίας χλιδής που αφορούν κατοικίες για δισεκατομμυριούχους.

Κατασκευασμένο σε μια ηφαιστειογενή περιοχή που κάποτε κατείχε ο μεγάλος βασιλιάς της Χαβάης, Kamehameha I, το Kohanaiki είναι ουσιαστικά μια ιδιωτική μικρή πόλη, ένα πολυτελές θέρετρο πλουσίων, στο οποίο παρέχονται όλες οι υπηρεσίες ενός 5άστερου (και βάλε) ξενοδοχείου, με την προσθήκη ενός τεράστιου γηπέδου golf σχεδιασμένου από τον Rees Jones, θρύλο στον συγκεκριμένο τομέα, μιας luxurious λέσχης με spa 6.300 τετραγωνικών εντυπωσιακής κατασκευής και μιας ιδιωτικής παραλίας μήκους 4 περίπου χιλιομέτρων.

Όσο για τις ίδιες τις ανέσεις; Εκτός από τις τις κατοικίες, 110 από τις οποίες είναι ήδη αγορασμένες και που βέβαια διαθέτουν όλων των ειδών τις πισίνες, το Kohanaiki προσφέρει ότι μπορεί να φανταστεί κανείς, όπως έναν μεγάλο αριθμό εστιατορίων για όλα τα γούστα, πολυτελές beach bar, ειδικό χώρο για τα παιδιά που μοιάζει με… luxurious κατασκήνωση, οργανωμένες αθλητικές εγκαταστάσεις με όλων των ειδών τις δραστηριότητες, ενώ οργανώνονται συνέχεια διάφορες εκδηλώσεις για όλων των ειδών τις προτιμήσεις.

 το πρώτο 3D σπίτι που θα φτιαχτεί το 2018! 

Εκπληκτικές εικόνες αποκαλύπτονται μπροστά στα ματιά μας για το πώς θα μοιάζουν τα σπίτια του μέλλοντος που θα είναι…εκτυπωμένα.

Οι ειδικοί πρόκειται να  κατασκευάσουν ένα σπίτι που ονομάζεται «Curve Appeal», η δομή του οποίου θα κατασκευαστεί από 28 πάνελ, τα οποία θα εκτυπωθούν σε 3D διάσταση και θα συναποτελούν δύο εξωτερικούς τοίχους, μια στέγη και έναν εσωτερικό πυρήνα.

Αυτά τα κύρια τμήματα θα ενωθούν μαζί και θα διαθέτουν ένα περίπλοκο συνδυασμό καμπύλων, γωνιών και τζαμιών. Αν και τα τρισδιάστατα εκτυπωμένα κτίρια δεν είναι κάτι καινούριο, αυτό το φουτουριστικό σπίτι – που θα κατασκευαστεί στο Τενεσί των ΗΠΑ μέσα στη χρονιά – θα είναι το πρώτο του είδους του, καθώς δεν θα περιέχει κανονικά σχήματα ή γωνίες.

Το σπίτι είναι η δημιουργία της εταιρείας σχεδιασμού WATG, με έδρα το Λονδίνο και την Καλιφόρνια, η οποία επιβλέπει το σχεδιασμό 36 πρωτότυπων κατοικιών, που θα μπορούσαν να κατασκευαστούν εύκολα και αποτελεσματικά.

Οι αρχιτέκτονες βασιζόμενοι στις αρχές του μοντερνισμού στοχεύουν το Curve Appeal είναι το επόμενο εξελικτικό βήμα στην αρχιτεκτονική, που θα συνδυάζει και θα εμπλέκει τις δομές ανάμεσα στο εσωτερικό και το εξωτερικό.

το νησί που απαγορεύεται να πατήσουν οι άνθρωποι! 

Είναι ένα καταπράσινο νησί με ωραίες παραλίες που βρίσκεται στη Βραζιλία και καλύπτει μια έκταση περίπου 430.000 τετραγωνικών μέτρων.

Το Ilha de Queimada Grande αποτελεί χωρίς αμφιβολία έναν επίγειο παράδεισο αλλά και ένα από τα πιο επικίνδυνα μέρη του πλανήτη, όπου δεν υπάρχουν μόνιμοι κάτοικοι και απαγορεύεται να πάνε άνθρωποι!

Ο λόγος; Τα πολλά δηλητηριώδη φίδια που έχουν κάνει κυριολεκτικά «κατάληψη» σε κάθε γωνιά του νησιού. Και πιο συγκεκριμένα το είδος Bothrops insularis, που ευθύνεται για τους περισσότερους θανάτους ανθρώπων στη βόρεια και νότια Αμερική.

Τα φίδια βρίσκονται παντού στο νησί, ενώ οι ντόπιοι υποστηρίζουν ότι σε κάθε τετραγωνικό μέτρο θα συναντήσει κανείς πάνω από 5 ερπετά! Αξίζει να σημειώσουμε ότι το εν λόγω είδος φιδιού απειλείται με εξαφάνιση για το λόγο αυτό οι Αρχές της Βραζιλίας τα προστατεύουν με κάθε τρόπο.

Άλλωστε, το νησί πλέον τους… ανήκει καθώς ζουν άνετα πάνω στα δέντρα, στις παραλίες και στο έδαφος χωρίς να κινδυνεύουν ούτε από κάποιο ζώο αλλά ούτε και από ανθρώπους. Το αντίθετο, μάλιστα, αφού κανείς δεν θέλει να πλησιάσει το νησί αυτό!

   2000: ο ΠΑΟ νικά στον τελικό του final four της Ευρωλίγκας την Μακάμπι με 73-67 στην Θεσσαλονίκη και στέφεται για δεύτερη φορά πρωταθλητής Ευρώπης. 

   2003: τα ξημερώματα της 20ης Απριλίου, μερικές ώρες πριν την έναρξη του Grand Prix στην πίστα της Imola στο San Marino, αποβιώνει η μητέρα των αδελφών Schumacher, που είχε υποστεί κίρρωση του ύπατος μετά από ατύχημα μέσα στο σπίτι της. ’Αυπνοι και ταλαιπωρημένοι οι δύο γιοι της, Michael και Ralf, ξεκινούν και δίνουν ανεπανάληπτες μάχες για τη νίκη, την οποία κατακτά τελικά ο Michael, ενώ είναι και η πρώτη για τον ίδιο το 2003. Ήταν αναμφίβολα, η περισσότερο φορτισμένη συναισθηματικά νίκη, του έξι φορές πλέον, παγκόσμιου πρωταθλητή.

1957, Elvis Presley started an eight week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'All Shook Up.' It went on to be the biggest single of 1957 selling over 2 million copies.

1959, Goldband Records released 'Puppy Love' by a 13-year old Dolly Parton in the US, a song that was recorded two years earlier when she was just eleven years old. The song didn't chart, (later to be a hit for Donny Osmond ).

1966, During a 12 hour session at Abbey Road studios in London The Beatles worked on a new John Lennon song 'And Your Bird Can Sing', and a new George Harrison song 'Taxman'.

1968, Deep Purple made their live debut at a gig in Tastrup, Denmark. Formerly known as Roundabout, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore suggested a new name: Deep Purple, named after his grandmother's favourite song (which had been a hit for Peter De Rose), after his grandmother had repeatedly asked if they would be performing the song.

1968, Apple Music ran advertisements soliciting tapes from unknown artists, offering financial grants as part of a deal to release records on the Apple label. Artists such as Badfinger, James Taylor, Mary Hopkin, Jackie Lomax, David Peel and Elephant's Memory were signed up.

1969, Session drummer Benny Benjamin died. One of 'The Funk Brothers' played on many Tamla Motown hits including, The Four Tops, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder. The film 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' released in 2003 features his work.

1979, Lighting director Billy Duffy was killed in an accident during a Kate Bushconcert in Southampton, England. 21-year old Duffy fell twenty feet through an open trap door on the stage. Kate Bush held a benefit concert on 12th May with Peter Gabriel and Steve Harley at London's Hammersmith Odeon for his family.

1980, 84 year old George Burns, who starred in the movie Oh God with John Denver, became the oldest person to have a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when 'I Wish I Was 18 Again' peaked at No.49. When asked if he wished he were 18 again, Burns replied "I wish I was 80 again." Before this, his most recent charting record had been a spoken word comedy routine with his wife and partner Gracie Allen in the summer of 1933.

1981, John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to drug possession charges; the sentence was suspended after 30 days. Phillips started touring the US lecturing against the dangers of taking drugs.

1985, The charity record 'We Are The World' by USA For Africa was at No.1 on the UK singles chart. The US artists' answer to Band Aid had an all-star cast including Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Bob Dylan, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Ray Charles, Billy Joel and Paul Simon plus the composer's of the track, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

1987, A record store in Callaway, Florida was forced to closed down and a part-time clerk was arrested after selling a copy of '2 Live Is What We Are' by 2 Live Crew to a 14 year old boy. Officials had deemed the recording "obscene" because of its pornographic lyrics.

1991, Steve Marriott leader of Small Faces and Humble Pie, died in a fire at his home in Essex. His work became a major influence for many 90s bands. Small Faces had the 1967 UK No.3 & US No.16 single 'Itchycoo Park', plus 1968 No.1 UK album 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake', Humble Pie, 1969 UK No.4 single 'Natural Born Bugie'. As a child actor he played parts in Dixon of Dock Green and The Artful Dodger in Oliver.

1992, 'A Concert For Life' took place at Wembley Stadium as a tribute to Queen singer Freddie Mercury  and for aids awareness. Acts appearing included; Elton John,Roger Daltrey, Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), David Bowie, Mick Ronson, James Hetfield, George Michael, Seal, Paul Young, Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield, Robert Plant, Joe Elliott and Phil Collen, Axl Rose and Slash.

1993, Aerosmith released 'Get A Grip' their 11th studio album which became their best selling album to date with sales over 20m. The album which featured the hits: 'Livin' On The Edge' and 'Crazy' also featured guests Don Henley and Lenny Kravitz.

1996, English R&B singer Mark Morrison had his first UK No.1 single when 'Return Of The Mack' started a two-week run at the top of the charts. A No.2 hit in the US, the beat was sampled from Tom Tom Club's 'Genius of Love.'

2002, In the dispute over who owned the rights to Nirvana's recordings former members Dave Grohl and Kirst Novoselic asked a Seattle Court to prove that Courtney Love was mentally stable. They told the court that Love was 'irrational, mercurial, self-centred, unmanageable, inconsistent and unpredictable.' They also claimed a contract was invalid because Love was 'stoned' at the time.

2006, Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty was arrested in east London on suspicion of drugs possession only hours after a court appearance. Doherty had earlier admitted to seven charges of possessing drugs when he appeared before magistrates in east London. He was given a community order with two years supervision and 18 months drug rehabilitation and was also banned from driving for six months.

2012, Bert Weedon, whose Play in a Day guitar guide set some of the biggest names in rock and roll on the road to greatness, died, aged 91. David Copperfield forced to reveal

magic trick in court

American magician David Copperfield has been forced to reveal a famous trick after a participant claimed he'd been injured during a Las Vegas performance.

British tourist Gavin Cox, 58, filed a negligence lawsuit after falling while participating in the famed magician's "Lucky #13" trick.

Mr Cox suffered a dislocated shoulder and claims he has since suffered chronic pain and brain injury. 

Mr Copperfield has performed the trick thousands of times without incident.

The 61-year-old's "Lucky #13" trick involves making 13 audience members, chosen at random, disappear on stage. 

Then, the grand surprise - spoiler alert - is when the illusionist reveals the 13 at the back of the room.

Lawyers for Mr Copperfield, the world's highest paid magician, argued that revealing the trick would financially harm the magician, but a Las Vegas district court judge demanded an explanation.

Chris Kenner, Mr Copperfield's executive producer, spilled the secrets of the trick in court on Tuesday.

After curtains come down on the 13 participants on stage, they are hurried through passageways that lead them around the Las Vegas MGM resort. They leave the building and emerge again at the back of the theatre.

Mr Cox, a resident of Kent, fell while being led through these passages by stagehands. He was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder at the time. 

He said doctors later diagnosed him with a brain lesion. Mr Cox's lawsuit claimed he has spent over $400,000 (£239,000) on medical bills, according to NBC News.

Benedict Morelli, Mr Cox's attorney, said in his opening statements that "there was a duty by the defendants to provide a safe environment to the audience participants".

When Mr Morelli asked Mr Copperfield whether or not a participant's injury was his fault, Mr Copperfield responded: "It would depend on what happened. If I did something wrong, it would be my fault."

Mr Cox alleges there was construction debris and dust in the passageways his client used, but Mr Copperfield said he walked the same path earlier and it was clear. 

The Las Vegas resort MGM is also a defendant in the lawsuit, and claimed its passageways were clear.

The resort's attorney, Jerry Popovich, said: "Mr Cox did not slip; he tripped."

The trial will continue, with Mr Copperfield expected to testify again on Tuesday.

Ενα «Φωτογραφικό Χωνάκι», μια Έκθεση Φωτογραφίας («Blink») και μαθητές δημοτικού που διψούν για τέχνη!

«Η Τέχνη ανοίγει ορίζοντες. Δημιουργεί στιγμές. Μας κάνει να βλέπουμε τα πράγματα από άλλη οπτική. Ένα έργο τέχνης είναι, πάνω από όλα, μια περιπέτεια του μυαλού». Σύμφωνα με τον Ευγένιο Ιονέσκο, Γαλλορουμάνο θεατρικό συγγραφέα. Κι έχει απόλυτο δίκιο. Αυτό είναι Τέχνη. Η περιπέτεια του μυαλού. 

Η Αγγελίνα Ζουμπούλη είναι δασκάλα στο 4ο Δημοτικό Σχολείο Αχαρνών. Η φωτογραφία είναι το χόμπι της. Ασχολείται με αυτήν για μια δεκαετία περίπου. Μέσα από την φωτογραφία, μεταφέρει συναισθήματα, εικόνες και στιγμές. Αυτό το συναίσθημα, σκέφτηκε να το μεταφέρει και στους μαθητές της. Έτσι λοιπόν χωρίς κανένα δισταγμό και με την υποστήριξη των συναδέλφων της, προχώρησε το Project της. Τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια μαζί με τους μαθητές των δύο τμημάτων της ΣT’ τάξης του σχολείου της, πραγματοποίησαν ένα πρόγραμμα φωτογραφίας. Και φέτος θα απολαύσουν τη δουλειά τους στη δική τους έκθεση. Το όνομα της Έκθεσης. »Blink». «Αναβοσβήνω». Όλα ξεκινούν με ένα κλικ και τελειώνουν με «στιγμές» και συναισθήματα.

Η αφίσα της Έκθεσης Φωτογραφίας, με όλα τα απαραίτητα στοιχεία για τις ημέρες που φιλοξενείται στο Δημαρχείο Αχαρνών…

Η αφορμή του project; Τα παιδιά να δουλέψουν την αισθητική τους και να αναζητήσουν την ομορφιά… «Δεν έχουμε μια θεματολογία συγκεκριμένη γιατί τα παιδιά απλά βρίσκονταν σε διαδικασία ανακάλυψης της τέχνης αυτής.  Που ενώ είναι γενιά της εικόνας, αδυνατούσαν να δουν και να ξεχωρίσουν φωτογραφίες. Και ενώ είναι γενιά της γρήγορης εναλλαγής εικόνων, δεν τους δίνεται το περιθώριο να τις επεξεργαστούν.  Η αφορμή για μένα, ήταν να »δουλέψουν» λίγο την αισθητική τους και να αναζητήσουν την ομορφιά μέσα από την τριβή τους με την καλλιτεχνική φωτογραφία. Μια ομορφιά που βρίσκεται ακόμη και σε φωτογραφίες που φαινομενικά δε φαίνεται ότι τη διαθέτουν. Επίσης η ενασχόληση με την τέχνη απελευθερώνει τη φαντασία τους, διότι μεγαλώνοντας οι άνθρωποι τη χάνουμε.Ενώ βοηθάει επίσης και τους μαθητές με μαθησιακές δυσκολίες. Τους απελευθερώνει. Τους βοηθάει να εκφραστούν».

Τα παιδιά διψούν για τέχνη. Διψούν για δραστηριότητες που τα βγάζουν για λίγο από το στενό μαθησιακό χώρο. Η επαφή με τα παιδιά προσφέρει όμορφες εικόνες. Από εκείνες που θέλεις να κρατήσεις για πάντα. «Αυτό που εισπράξαμε από αυτή τη διαδικασία είναι ότι ήρθαμε πιο κοντά.Γνωριστήκαν καλύτερα και τα δύο τμήματα και ανέπτυξαν έντονους φιλικούς δεσμούς. Περάσαμε πάρα πολύ όμορφα με γέλια, με απογοητεύσεις, με συγκινήσεις αλλά στο τέλος μας βοήθησαν να απολαύουμε τη φωτογραφική διαδικασία και να βρούμε χαρά μέσα σε αυτήν». Μας λέει η Αγγελίνα και συνεχίζει:

«Έχουμε φτιάξει με συναδέλφους – φωτογράφους  κι ένα πανελλήνιο δίκτυο μαθητικής φωτογραφίας, το Φωτογραφικό Χωνάκι». Το φωτογραφικό Χωνάκι ( https://goo.gl/yR4bzb ) είναι ένα δίκτυο συνεργασίας μαθητών και εκπαιδευτικών που υλοποιούν προγράμματα Φωτογραφίας. «Το ξεκινήσαμε εκπαιδευτικοί της πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης που γνωριζόμαστε ήδη από τον φωτογραφικό χώρο και ευελπιστούμε να ενταχθούν σ’ αυτό και άλλοι εκπαιδευτικοί και μαθητές που αγαπούν τη φωτογραφία. Σκοπός των προγραμμάτων φωτογραφίας που υλοποιούμε είναι η επαφή των μαθητών μας με το έργο των μεγάλων φωτογράφων. Η εκμάθηση των βασικών τεχνικών στοιχείων της φωτογραφικής μηχανής και η παραγωγή φωτογραφιών από τους ίδιους τους μαθητές».

Η Αγγελίνα Ζουμπούλη είναι δασκάλα στο 4ο Δημοτικό Σχολείο Αχαρνών κι έχει μεγάλη όρεξη για να μεταλαμπαδεύσει την αγάπη της για τη φωτογραφία και τις τέχνες, στους μαθητές και στις μαθήτριες του σχολείου της.

Η έκπληξη όμως της έκθεσης, έρχεται από το νησί των Αρκιών. Το 4ο Δημοτικό σχολείο Αχαρνών, συνεργάστηκε με το δημοτικό σχολείο Αρκιών. Με τη δασκάλα Μαρία Τσιαλέρα και τον μικρό Χριστάκη. Το μοναδικό μαθητή του νησιού.«Η συνεργασία με τους Αρκιούς έγινε μέσω μιας φίλης νηπιαγωγού που είναι μέλος της Ομάδας Αιγαίου και πραγματοποιούν τέτοιες δράσεις. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο ήρθαμε σε επαφή.  Κι έγινε η πρόταση να συμμετάσχει κι ο μικρός Χρήστος στην έκθεσή μας παρουσιάζοντας φωτογραφίες από το όμορφο νησί του μέσω των οποίων θα μας ξεναγήσει».

Μάλιστα επιθυμία της Μαρίας Τσιαλέρα είναι το καλοκαίρι η Έκθεση φωτογραφίας των παιδιών να μεταφερθεί στο μικρό νησί. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο τουρίστες και κάτοικοι θα θαυμάσουν την δουλειά των μικρών μαθητών και το σχολείο θα ζωντανέψει ξανά και το καλοκαίρι. Θα μεταμορφωθεί σε χώρο πολιτισμού και έκφρασης. Και τα καλύτερα…έρχονται. Πολλοί μαθητές του δημοτικού σχολείου Αχαρνών, δήλωσαν την επιθυμία να γνωρίσουν από κοντά το συμμαθητή τους, τον Χρήστο και να ξεναγηθούν από τον ίδιο στους Αρκιούς. «Υπάρχει η επιθυμία από κάποιους μαθητές να επισκεφτούν τους Αρκιούς το καλοκαίρι με τους γονείς τους. Να γνωρίσουν και να παίξουν με το νέο τους πια φίλο και συμμαθητή το Χρήστο».

Which is why people showed up at the box office year after year to see Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller star alongside each other in a dozen different movies, or why "Friends" fans were delighted to see Jennifer Aniston appear on her IRL best friend Courteney Cox's show "Cougar Town." 

Most recently, longtime BFFs Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips finally got to reunite on screen — 15 years after the last episode of "Dawson's Creek," which they both starred in, aired.

The two met on the set of "Dawson's Creek" in 2001 and have been inseparable ever since.Williams appeared on Phillip's sitcom "Cougar Town" in 2013, but since then their friendship has stayed confined to social media and red carpets — until now. "I Feel Pretty," their big screen debut as besties, hits screens on April 20.

Julia Roberts and George Clooney met on the set of "Ocean's Eleven" and have been friends and regular co-stars since. They most recently appeared in 2016 thriller "Money Monster" together.

Since then, the two have collaborated in "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,""August: Osage County," which Roberts starred in and Clooney produced, and were reunited as co-stars and on-screen love interests in "Money Monster."

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been friends since they were both working the Chicago comedy circuit in the early '90s, and have been making us jealous of their friendship ever since.

Seth Rogen and James Franco met as teenagers on "Freak and Geeks," and have starred in multiple comedy classics since.

Even though they played love interests on the show, their real-life relationship is strictly platonic— Groff is openly gay. Their working relationship began with "The Cable Guy" in 1996, and has led to movies ranging from the kid-friendly "Night at the Museum" series to the cult classic "Zoolander"— and its less-than-thrilling sequel 17 years later. 

But the two had communicated before then. Wilson revealed that their first contact was in a letterStiller wrote to Wilson complimenting his work in "Bottle Rocket," and hoping that the two would be able to work together soon. In Wilson's own words, "that sure came to pass." 

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart met on the set of "New Moon," and are extremely close. Fanning told Stewart, "I love you so f---ing much."

Fanning called her friendship with "New Moon" co-star Stewart "one of the most special bonds in my life" in her speech celebrating her friend at the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards. Fanning spoke very highly of Stewart, detailing their beautiful friendship, which has lasted through three "Twilight" movies and the Joan Jett biopic "The Runaways." 

Stewart ended her own speech at the awards ceremony with a promise: "I'm so proud of you... I'll do this for you really soon. Just ask me." 

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were longtime friends before collaborating on screen in "True Detective."

Before becoming "True Detective" co-stars, the two worked together on "EDtv" and "Surfer, Dude" in 1999 and 2008 respectively. When talking about their working relationship, McConaughey said "One of the things [Woody] and I are good at [in] comedy is where I start and he ends and he starts and I end and we really get on a similar frequency and roll with it." 

Even though "True Detective," continued without them, the pair are still giving the public heartwarming glimpses into their relationship, like when they reunited on the 2018 Oscars red carpet clasping hands and smiling at each other. 

Cara Delevingne and Rihanna met at a fashion show and were close for five years before appearing in "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" together.

Delevingne recalled meeting Rihanna when "she came up to me and slapped me on the bum." And though the two have mainly been depicted as friends who just party together, Delevingne explainedthat their relationship goes much deeper than that, saying "no matter where either of us are in the world, we know we can just pick up the phone and unload on each other, and that we are always ready to listen or offer advice." 

And when the two were given an opportunity to act in a film together, Delevingne told Glamour that "I've seen her work in the studio, in concert, in meetings. But to see her act was incredible." 

Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke have been friends since they were 11 — so it wasn't much of a surprise when Dunham cast Kirke in "Girls."

During an interview about the ending of "Girls," Dunham (the show's star and creator), revealed that Kirke had tried to quit during season two, and that Kirke even threatened to punch Dunham if she didn't leave her dressing room. But rest assured, the two worked it out. "Jemima and I fought sometimes because we've been close since we were 11, and that's one of the things you do when you're family," Dunham explained. 

Kirke backed up Dunham's statement in the same interview, saying "It definitely caused us to get closer [after 15 years of friendship] and it caused us to fight. And then at the end of it, you know, [our relationship] was nicer."

27 waterfalls that are so beautiful they'll take your breath away

It's hard not to be in awe of waterfalls. 

From their sheer beauty to their immense power, they're one of the most picturesque things in the natural world. And since most of us don't see them nearly as often as we'd like, it's even more special when we do. 

Falls are sometimes found in remote locations, or they're difficult to get to, or only flow seasonally, so it takes a lot of planning to be able to glimpse a view. 

If you need some travel inspiration, here are 27 waterfalls you need to see at least once. 

Skógafoss, Iceland

Iceland's Skógafoss waterfall is easily one of the most stunning falls in the world, with rainbows appearing on most days. They can be viewed from the bottom or the top, after a 370-step climb. One of 22 waterfalls along the Skoga River, this 197-foot fall is especially unique because it flows directly from two glaciers. 

Pearl Shoal Waterfall, China

Pearl Shoal Waterfall is located in China's Sichuan province, and is named for the pearl-like colors the thin water reflects in the sun when it flows over the shoal surface beneath it. The 130-foot falls are also tied to a fascinating legend of a young girl who pulled sacred water down from the mountain, creating the falls and a dense, beautiful forest. 

Veliki Slap Waterfall, Croatia

Located near the border of Bosnia, Plitvice National Park is Croatia's first national parkand home to more than a dozen waterfalls of varying sizes. The largest is the Veliki Slap Waterfall at 255 feet. Visiting in the winter will give you a different view, as the falls partially freeze and become surrounded by snow and ice. 

Palouse Falls, Washington

Palouse Falls are considered one of the last waterfalls still active from the Missoula floods, which occurred at the end of the last Ice Age. It was also designated as Washington's state waterfall in 2014. The winding path of the Palouse River and the 200-foot plunge of the falls are a must-see for any history buff and waterfall fan. 

Iguazu Falls, on the border of Brazil and Argentina

These massive and powerful falls are located in the Iguazu River, which forms the border of Brazil and Argentina. Collectively, they boast a height of around 269 feet and a staggering width of 1.7 miles. Depending on the time of year, there are around 275 separate falls that make up the waterfalls as a whole. 

To put their size in perspective, they're twice as tall as Niagara Falls and three times as wide. From November to March, enough water flows through the falls to fill five Olympic swimming pools. The Brazilian and Argentinian sides both offer completely different, yet both awe-inspiring, views of the falls. 

Niagara Falls, New York and Canada

Niagara Falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in the world, with about 30 million visitors a year. Those tourists are there to get a view of the three falls — Horseshoe, American, and Bridal Veil— that make up Niagara Falls. Horseshoe Falls, which lies on the Canadian side, is the tallest at 167 feet. An astounding amount of water crashes down the falls every second — 3,160 tons to be exact. 

Jog Falls, India

Also known as "Gerosoppa Falls" or "Joga Falls," the Jog Falls are among the highest waterfalls in India at 830 feet. Like many falls on this list, their appearance can change seasonally. During monsoon season — July to September — the falls transform from several segmented falls to one plunge waterfall. 

Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe

These well-known falls are on the Zambezi River, which forms the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. There are several viewing points for this incredible 354-foot fall, which can be seen at peak flow during the flood season in March and April. Although it's not the tallest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls is often referred to as "the greatest curtain of falling water in the world."

Hanging Glacier, Chile

Chile's Hanging Glacier is also called "Ventisquero Falls" after the explorer who discovered the wonder in 1875. This attraction — the most popular in Queulat National Park— is exactly what it sounds like — a glacier that "hangs" above a rock ravine, as water plunges down into a river located in a valley formed by mountains surrounding the glacier. Although visitors can see the falls at any time of the year, snow and ice largely cover them during the late spring and early summer. 

Angel Falls, Venezuela

Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world at an astounding 3,212 feet from a plateau on top of Auyán-Tepuí, which translates to "Devil's Mountain." In 2009, former Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez declared the falls be called by their indigenous name, Kerepakupai Merú. The falls are so deep in the jungle that it's nearly impossible to see them up close from the ground. Your best bet is to get a bird's-eye view from a plane. 

Multnomah Falls, Oregon

A short drive from Portland, Multnomah Falls is one of the few falls that doesn't dry up in the summer, although the flow is usually highest in the spring and winter. If tranquility is what you're looking for, this might not be the right fall for you. It's a popular tourist spot, bringing in more than two million visitors a year to see the 611-foot drop.

Kaieteur Falls, Guyana

Kaieteur Falls are so impressive that it's no wonder they remain the top-visited attraction in the country. Located in Kaieteur National Park, the falls consist of a single 741-foot drop. Since they are within the Amazon Rainforest, traveling there can be a challenge, but there are guided tours available. 

Rhine Falls, Switzerland

Rhine Falls is not only the largest waterfall in Switzerland, it's also very friendly to tourists. You can get an amazing view of the 75-foot-high fall, which flows heaviest in the summer, while standing on platforms that jut out over the Rhine River. While you're there, make sure to see the castles near the falls — Worth and Laufen— which are reachable by river boat. 

Gullfoss Waterfall, Iceland

The Gullfoss Waterfall is truly a display of natural beauty. This multi-staged waterfall is in the Hvítá River and plunges 104 feet. It gets its water from the country's second largest glacier, Langjökull. The fall can be visited on its own or as a part of Iceland's famous Golden Circle tour. 

Havasu Falls, Arizona

Located in the Grand Canyon as one of five of the Havasupai Falls, the Havasu Falls are among the most difficult on this list to visit. To see the 100-foot drop requires a 10-mile hike, in addition to a permit to visit the Havasupai Indian Reservation. There are other falls in the area that are easier to see, but the Havasu Falls are considered the most beautiful thanks to their signature turquoise water. 

Wallaman Falls, Australia

Australia's tallest single-drop waterfall, Wallaman Falls' main drop is around 880 feet, not counting multiple smaller ledes. The falls are located in the Girringun National Park — which is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, a UNESCO World Heritage site— where camping and hiking is also available. 

Huangguoshu Waterfall, China

The Huangguoshu Waterfall National Park contains eighteen different waterfalls, but its namesake fall is the most remarkable at 255 feet. One of the best views is from the Shuiliandong (or Water-Curtain) Cave just behind the fall. 

Ban Gioc–Detian Falls, on the border of China and Vietnam

The Ban Gioc-Detian Falls are a set of two falls on the border of China and Vietnam. Known as Ban Gioc in Vietnam and Detian in China, they make up the largest border-shared waterfall in Asia, with a plunge of 98 feet. 

The falls can be visited from either country, and each offers amazing views. The higher the water flow, the more they appear as one singular fall, which some argue isn't as thrilling. Visitors are best off going between the months of May through July. Both hiking and rafting are great ways to see the falls. 

Dettifoss, Iceland

Dettifoss is not only a beautiful waterfall, but it's also said to be the most powerful in Europe, boasting the most volume out of any other falls on the continent. Every second 17,657 cubic feet of water gushes over the falls. 

It can be viewed from within the Vatnajökull National Park, which has well-maintained trails leading to the waterfall. The 328-foot-wide falls drop from a height of 148 feet. 

Taughannock Falls, New York

Taughannock Falls are located in an unsuspecting state park near Trumansburg, New York. With playgrounds, boating, picnic tables, and grills, it's hard to believe it's also home to a 215-foot waterfall. Some trails are closed seasonally, but the fall is usually accessible year-round. 

Yosemite Falls, California

There are so many waterfalls in California's Yosemite National Park that they haven't even been counted. Out of all of them, Yosemite Falls is the most spectacular. At a height of 2,425 feet, it's also the park's tallest waterfall. Peak flow is in May, but the waterfall is viewable from November to July. 

Sutherland Falls, New Zealand

The tallest waterfall in New Zealand, Sutherland Falls is an impressive 1,900 feet. The view is unlike anything you've ever seen, but you'll have to really work for it. It's a four-day hike via the Milford Track to get to the spot, or you can take a scenic flight if that's more your speed. 

Nuorilang Waterfall, China

Like the Pearl Shoal Waterfall, the Nuorilang fall is located in China's Sichuan Province, near the city of Chengdu. It's only 66 feet tall, but with a width of 885 feet, it's the widest waterfall in China. Nuorilang reaches its strongest flow in the summer. 

Nohkalikai Falls, India

These breathtaking falls are can be found in Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth. Despite being named after a dark legend that tells the story of a mother jumping down the waterfall to her death after her second husband killed her child, the falls are one of the most beautiful sites in India. The 1,100-foot plunge is best viewed in the fall. 

Tugela Falls, South Africa

If you've never heard of Tugela Falls, it might surprise you to know that it's actually the world's second tallest waterfall with five different falls that drop a combined total of 3110 feet. The Royal Natal National Park where the falls are located can be visited year-round, but note that Tugela Falls is very dependent on the Tugela River, which can dry up at certain points throughout the year.

Gocta Cataracts, Peru

Despite being one of the tallest waterfalls in the world, the Gocta Cataracts remained a well-kept Peruvian secret until 2006, when a German economist working on a project in the area accidentally came across the falls on a hike. It's a two-tiered waterfall that has a combined height of 2,531 feet.

This waterfall is a rare treat, as it's only open to tourists from June 20th - August 20theach year. For the rest of the year, water from the massive 974-foot fall is channeled elsewhere for hydroelectric power, and visitors are prohibited. If your trip to Norway falls during those dates, you'll be able to walk right up to the fall, providing an up-close view of its beauty.
