Κάτω από την ομπρέλα του γερμανικού ομίλου θα λειτουργήσει το ξενοδοχείο TUI Sensimar Blue Lagoon Palace, ιδιοκτησίας Eurotel.
Το πρώτο της ξενοδοχείο TUI Sensimar θα αποκτήσει τον Μάιο του 2018 η Χαλκιδική, η οποία και αυτή πλέον θα έχει παρουσία σε ένα από τα concepts φιλοξενίας τουριστών του γερμανικού κολοσσού που συνεχώς διευρύνει την παρουσία του στην Ελλάδα.
Το «ΤUI Sensimar Blue Lagoon Palace» ανήκει και αυτό ιδιοκτησιακά στον όμιλο «Εurotel» του κ. Άρη Δούρου, ενώ το μάνατζμεντ, όπως και στο γειτονικό «Blue Lagoon Princess», στις Καλύβες Πολυγύρου, θα έχει ο όμιλος «Blue Lagoon».
Όπως είπε στη Voria.gr o group manager των «Blue Lagoon» κ. Κώστας Μιχαηλίδης, το πεντάστερο «Βlue Lagoon Palace» κατασκευάζεται από την «Eurotel», βάσει των προδιαγραφών της TUI για τα ξενοδοχεία της αλυσίδας Sensimar.
Το νέο ξενοδοχείο, όπως όλα τα Sensimar, απευθύνεται αποκλειστικά σε ενήλικες, σε άτομα που θέλουν να απολαύσουν την ηρεμία που δεν μπορούνε να έχουν σε family hotels, αλλά και να συμμετάσχουν σε θεματικά σεμινάρια που απευθύνονται σε τουρίστες εκλεκτικούς και με ενδιαφέροντα ευρύτερα για τον τόπο που επισκέπτονται.
Το «TUI Sensimar Blue Lagoon Palace», κατασκευάζεται σε απόσταση μικρότερη του 1 χλμ. από το «Blue Lagoon Princess». Το νέο 5άστερο ξενοδοχείο διαθέτει 92 δωμάτια, junior σουΐτες και σουΐτες, με εσωτερική (θερμαινόμενη) και εξωτερική πισίνα, γήπεδα τέννις, δύο εστιατόρια και μπαρς.

Σημειώνεται ότι η ΤUI, έχει στον όμιλό της επτά διαφορετικά concepts ξενοδοχείων και resorts. Ένα από αυτά είναι το Sensimar, με πολλά resorts στην Ευρώπη και παρουσία στην Ελλάδα σε Κρήτη, Κέρκυρα, Ρόδο, Κω, Ζάκυνθο, Κεφαλονιά και, σε λίγους μήνες, και στη Χαλκιδική.
Ο όμιλος TUI, όπως έχει δηλώσει και ο επικεφαλής του Friedrich Joussen, έχει επιλέξει να αυξήσει την παρουσία του στην Ελλάδα, εντάσσοντας και άλλες ξενοδοχειακές μονάδες στις αλυσίδες που έχει κάτω από την ομπρέλα του. Άλλωστε η Ελλάδα έχει ανεβεί στις προτιμήσεις των Γερμανών, όπως και των Βρετανών τουριστών.
Οι ταξιδιώτες που ως το τέλος της φετινής χρονιάς θα φθάσουν στη χώρα μας μέσω της TUI εκτιμάται ότι θα ανέλθουν σε περίπου 2,5 εκατομμύρια, αντιπροσωπεύοντας πάνω από το 10% του συνόλου του ελληνικού τουρισμού, ενώ το 2017 καταγράφεται και αύξηση 20% στους επισκέπτες κρουαζιέρας. Πρόκειται για μεγέθη που καθιστούν την Ελλάδα δεύτερο μεγαλύτερο προορισμό της TUI μετά την Ισπανία.

What Happened to Liza Minnelli – 2017 Update

If anybody could be regarded as royalty in the World of show business then Liza Minnelli would undoubtedly be considered by many as the most regal of them all. During a career that has encompassed more than sixty years the singer, actress and dancer has been labelled the Queen of Broadway and thrilled audiences across the World with her prestigious vocal skills, flamboyant performances and the heartfelt sincerity she brings to her roles.

Liza’s reign as one of the most revered, talented and popular stars of the twentieth century has seen her win an array of awards that leave her in a small select group of equally iconic greats, she has battled addiction and personal problems to remain ever smiling and seemingly invincible, but what has the legendary entertainer been doing in recent years? Take a step this way as we review the remarkable career of one the legends of show-business.

Liza Minnelli’s Early Life and Childhood

Liza Minnelli was born on March 12th 1946 in Los Angeles, California to famous showbiz parents. Her mother, Judy Garland was herself a superstar of the day renown for her impressive contralto vocal range and numerous movie appearances, but most notably for her leading role in the classic ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (1939), still regarded by many even today as one of the most iconic films ever made. Liza’s father was Vincente Minnelli, a director of films and musicals who had become famous for his efforts in musicals such as ‘Meet me in St Louis’ and ‘An American in Paris’, as well as several acclaimed comedies and dramas.

With a family that was so established in the entertainment industry it’s little surprise that Liza was destined to follow in her parents footsteps. At the age of just three she had a small uncredited role in the musical ‘In the Good Old Summertime’ (1949) starring mom Judy and popular Hollywood star Van Johnson. During the early variety TV shows of the 1950’s she made several other appearances as a child, including a song and dance routine in 1959 with Gene Kelly on his debut Television special. Liza also took part in a few small guest appearances on TV shows, where she usually performed a song and dance routine, and she also had several appearances on chat shows with chat-show greats such as Merv Griffin and Johnny Carson during the period.

Liza’s parents divorced in 1951 and they both re-married. Judy Garland married producer Sid Luft and soon Liza was half-sister to Joey and Lorna Luft, who is also well-known these days for her vocal work and recording career. Liza spent her early life splitting her time between both parents, and after a few small roles in theatre she became a professional performer in 1963, in a revival of the musical ‘Best Foot Forward’. She received the first of her many awards when she picked up a ‘Theatre World Award’ for her part in the production.

Liza Minnelli’s Early Singing and Acting Career

When she was nineteen Liza began performing as a nightclub singer, firstly in Washington D.C at the Shoreham Hotel, and then later at clubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Miami and Las Vegas. She was a natural at performing as well as an accomplished and talented vocalist, and she soon enjoyed many positive reviews and growing stardom. She released several albums featuring her mix of popular classics and show-tunes during her early singing career, including ‘Liza! Liza!’ in 1964, ‘It Amazes Me’ the following year and ‘There is a Time’ in 1966. Her first dramatic film role came in 1964 when she voice acted for the animated sequel ‘Journey Back to Oz’, although the release of the film was delayed due to financial problems until 1972. In 1964 Liza also appeared in an episode of ‘Mr Broadway’ and was invited by her mother to perform in concert alongside her at the London Palladium, with the duet also being released on an album. Liza made her debut on Broadway in 1965 in ‘Flora the Red Menace’, and received a Tony Award in the ‘Best Actress in a Musical’ category for her performance, in the process becoming the youngest ever recipient of the award at the time.

Liza’s first credited film role came in 1967 when she performed in ‘Charlie Bubbles’ as the romantic lead alongside Albert Finney, in 1969 she appeared in ‘The Sterile Cuckoo’, earning her first Academy Award nomination, and in 1970 she starred as the eccentric Junie Moon in ‘Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon’. Liza also enjoyed more success with her musical career during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. She released albums for both A&M Records and Columbia Records, with ‘Liza Minnelli’ being released in 1968, ‘Come Saturday Morning’ and ‘New Feelin’ in 1970 and ‘The Singer’ in 1973.

Liza Minnelli’s Rise to International Fame

In 1972 Liza starred in her-best known acting role, as Sally Bowles in ‘Cabaret’. The film was a huge success and the awards rained down on her. She won the Academy Award for Best Leading Actress, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for the role. She performed in a made for TV special concert, ‘Liza With a Z’, on the back of the success of the film, a production that not only received unanimous praise and also made her an internationally recognized superstar, but it also earned her an Emmy Award.

Liza’s career and popularity took off after the success of ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Liza With a Z’ and she was in great demand during the later 1970’s. She worked with Ingred Bergman in ‘A Matter of Time’ in 1976, and alongside Robert De Niro in the musical ‘New York, New York’ the following year, singing the iconic signature tune in the film, a performance that she occasionally reprised in later years alongside Ol’ Blues eyes himself, Frank Sinatra, who made the song an instantly recognizable classic with his famous cover version. In 1977 as well as filming ‘New York, New York’ she also managed to record and release her eighth studio album, ‘Tropical Nights’.

Liza focused more on her live music after ‘Tropical Nights’, she performed in several concert tours and made a much lauded performance at Carnegie Hall in 1979. She returned to acting in 1981 when she starred in ‘Arthur’, taking the role of Linda Marolla, the love interest to Dudley Moore’s alcoholic millionaire character Arthur Bach in the film. ‘Arthur’ was a huge success globally and eventually made over $95 million at the box office, but from that point onwards Liza cut down on her acting roles, although she did agree to reprise her role for the sequel to ‘Arthur’, ‘Arthur 2: On the Rocks’ in 1988.

Liza Minnelli’s Turbulent Personal Life

Although Liza had found great success as both a singer and an actress, her personal life had not gone so smoothly. When her mother died in 1969 she began taking Valium, and soon developed an addiction to prescription drugs, but she also has had a long-standing battle with addiction to alcohol. Her personal life was also lacking the stability of her career. She married entertainer Peter Allen in 1967 but the couple divorced in 1974. Liza later disclosed that she had unexpectedly discovered Peter was bi-sexual upon returning home unexpectedly one day, but still found to strength to joke about what must have been a shocking experience, commenting that she would never again ‘surprise anyone coming home as long as I live’. Her second marriage, to director Jack Haley Jr took place soon after her divorce, but that union too was not long lasting, the pair divorced in 1979. Once again Liza jumped into another marriage soon after a divorce, this time to sculptor Mark Gero, and this marriage, her third, lasted longer but by 1992 she was notching up a third ended marriage.

What’s Liza Minnelli Doing Now in 2017 – Recent Updates

Liza has remained in demand and hugely popular throughout her career, and after her third divorce she returned to the studio to collaborate with Bill Stritch to record a number of unplugged classics. Many reviewers considered the work to be the peak of Minnelli’s musical accomplishments, with her softer, sultry and more interpretive tone highly applauded by fans and critics alike. In 1997 Liza came back to her spiritual home Broadway to replace Julie Andrews in the leading role of the musical ‘Victor/Victoria’, once again to critical acclaim, but by the year 2000 she began to suffer with serious health issues.

Liza was diagnosed with an extreme case of viral encephalatis, her doctors expected her to be wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life, and that she would completely lose the ability to speak. But Liza astounded the medical experts by her determination to beat the debilitating effects of the illness, taking dancing lessons and vocal training daily in order to eventually make a miraculous recovery. She made her comeback performance at the request of her long-time great friend and fellow superstar Michael Jackson, at Madison Square Garden at the ‘Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Concert’ in 2001.

The Michael Jackson concert was produced by David Gest, who was so impressed by Minnelli’s strength and talent that he produced a Worldwide tour for her and also produced a live album recorded during the tour, ‘Liza’s Back’ which was released in 2002. The album was hugely celebrated, not only for it’s quality, but also because of Liza’s remarkable recovery, and the tour contained many memorable performances, particularly in New York City and London when Liza had finally performed her mothers classic song ‘Over The Rainbow’, after many years of declining requests from fans to do so.

Liza surprised many fans by marrying for a fourth time, to David Gest in 2002, but once again personal happiness eluded her, and this time her divorce was acrimonious and painfully public. Gest made many allegations against Liza and she responded with complaints of her own, their divorce was eventually awarded in 2007 after a lengthy legal battle.

Liza’s popularity remained as great as ever, and she has appeared in many popular TV shows in recent years, most notably in ‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Law & Order’, she also returned to Broadway again in 2008 and although it was noted that she was no longer quite as polished a performer as she had been in her peak, she still managed to delight audiences, who always begged for more.

Liza’s appearances since then have been few and far between, she has performed with Cher, Cyndi Lauper and Rosie O’Donnell, and even appeared on Australian Idol as a guest judge, in 2015 she celebrated the 50th anniversary of her Broadway debut in ‘Flora the Red Menace’ at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Nevada.

With a long and glittering career behind her, this true superstar has achieved something that only seventeen other entertainers have ever managed before, the ‘Grand slam’ of American show business. The acronym EGOT refers to those rare legendary performers who have won the major awards in television, music recording, film and theatre, respectively the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. In 1990 Liza completed the Grand-slam when she was awarded a Grammy Legend award, and she joined the ranks of legendary entertainers such as Harry Belafonte, Barbara Streisland and James Earl Jones. It’s a prestigious honour to be on that exclusive EGOT list, the very best of the best, and after such a fantastically long and acclaimed career, it’s still not enough to truly recognise Liza Minnelli’s enormous impact on the World of entertainment, but it’s the most recognition that anyone in show-business can get, and it will just have to do.

FALCON 8X

Το business jet των Κροίσων

Ελληνική εταιρεία ήταν από τις πρώτες που αγόρασε το υπερσύγχρονο trijet των $58.000.000 

Η ναυαρχίδα της σειράς Falcon, με το θρυλικό σχήμα της, αποτελεί ακόμα μία απόδειξη της φανερής ανωτερότητας (και φαντασίας) της γαλλικής Dassault Aviation SA στο σχεδιασμό trijet. Και είναι ακριβώς αυτή διάταξη των τριων κινητήρων πάνω στο σώμα των αεροσκαφών που τα κάνει μοναδικά, όχι μόνο από πλευράς λειτουργικότητας και ασφάλειας αλλά και σε ομορφιά. Η πρόσφατη μάλιστα αδειοδότηση προσγείωσης και απογείωσης από το αεροδρόμιο του Λονδίνου, ένος ίσως από τα πιο δύσκολα στον κόσμο εξαιτίας της απότομης προσέγγισης και του μικρού διαδρόμου προσγείωσης, ανοίγει πλέον διάπλατα νέους εμπορικούς ορίζοντες για τα Falcon 8X, που ας μην γελιόμαστε, στοχεύει κυρίως στα «μεγάλα ονόματα» του City του Λονδίνου και της Canary Wharf, του σημαντικότερου ίσως οικονομικού τετραγώνου στον κόσμο σήμερα.

Στην εποχή της απόλυτης κυριαρχίας των jet με δύο κινητήρες, η Dassault επέλεξε για το Falcon 8X τη χρησιμοποίηση τριων έτσι ώστε να είναι ευκολότερος ο χειρισμός των αεροσκαφών σε μικρότερους διαδρόμους προσγείωσης και η προσέγγιση σε αεροδρόμια με μεγαλύτερο υψόμετρο, έχοντας βέβαια και το πλεονέκτημα της μέγιστης ασφάλειας που προσφέρει ένας επιπλέον κινητήρας. Οι τελευταίοι είναι Pratt & Whitney PW307D και παράγουν 6,722 lb ώθησης, ο καθένας, παρέχοντας στο Falcon μια απίστευτη ταχύτητα για business jet που φτάνει τα Mach 90. Επιπλέον, με τρεις κινητήρες, το αεροσκάφος μπορεί να πετάει άνετα στα 51.000 πόδια χωρίς να χρειάζεται τις επιπλέον διαδικασίες πλοήγησης που απαιτούνται στους δικινητήριους ανταγωνιστές του, όσον αφορά τις μεγάλες αποστάσεις, ενώ ο επιπλέον χώρος για καύσιμα που διαθέτουν προσφέρουν τη δυνατότητα συνεχούς πτήσης από 12 έως και 14 ώρες χωρίς ανεφοδιασμό. Έτσι, η δυσκολία που αντιμετώπιζε το Falcon 7X σε αποστάσεις όπως Παρίσι-Σιγκαπούρη, έχει πλέον μηδενιστεί με το 8Χ. Το ίδιο συνέβαινε και στις πτήσεις Los Angeles – Hong Kong και Hong Kong – Λονδίνο… Συν τοις άλλοις, η αισθητή μείωση του θορύβου, σε σχέση με τα προηγούμενα Falcon, επιτρέπουν πλέον και την προσέγγιση αεροδορομίων με αυστηρούς κανόνες, κυρίως σε αυτά που είναι μέσα σε μεγάλες πόλεις, όπως την Καννών.

Το μήκους 24 μέτρων 8Χ και αξίας 58 εκατ. δολαρίων, μπορεί να μεταφέρει άνετα 8 επιβάτες, ενώ ο αγοραστής έχει τη δυνατότητα επιλογής μεταξύ 30 διαφορετικών σχεδίων διαρρύθμισης εσωτερικών χώρων, κάτι που βέβαια έχει άμεση συνάρτηση με τον τρόπο χρησιμοποίησης του αεροσκάφους. Έτσι, ο αριθμός των επιβατών μπορεί να φτάσει και τους 14, ενώ αντιστοίχως, να μειωθεί αισθητά, αν δημιουργηθούν μικρότεροι χώροι ξεκούρασης, ακόμα και μπάνιου με ντους. Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα ατού του Falcon 8X είναι ότι παρά τα μεγάλα ύψη που μπορεί να πετάει, η καμπίνα διατηρεί την ατμοσφαιρική πίεση αρκετά χαμηλά με αποτέλεσμα οι επιβάτες να υποφέρουν πολύ λιγότερο από jet lag όταν φτάνουν στον προορισμό τους.

Τέλος, αξίζει να σημειώσουμε ότι μία από τις πρώτες εταιρείες που αγόρασαν το Falcon 8X είναι ελληνική, η Amjet executive, η οποία ειδικεύεται στις πτήσεις charter και κυρίως στο κομμάτι του b2b. Τουλάχιστον αυτό αναφέρεται σε περσινή της ανακοίνωση, σημειώνοντας μάλιστα ότι από τις εγκαταστάσεις της Dassault στο Μπορντό έως το Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος το Falcon 8X πιλοτάρισε ο μεγαλομέτοχος της εταιρείας Abakar Manany. Ο Manany, όπως εξήγησε πέρσι στο ειδησιογραφικό site news247 ο νέος Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος της εταιρείας, Α. Θεοδωρακόπουλος, επέλεξε να δημιουργήσει την εταιρεία του στην Ελλάδα το 2009 τόσο λόγω της θέσης της, ανάμεσα στην Ευρώπη και στην Μέση Ανατολή, όσο και εξαιτίας του υψηλού επιπέδου έμψυχου υλικού που προέρχεται κυρίως από την «δεξαμενή» της παλιάς Ολυμπιακής.

«Η Θεσσαλονίκη με τη ματιά των Γάλλων στρατιωτών-ζωγράφων του Μεγάλου Πολέμου (1914-1918)»

Η συγγραφέας Μαρία Καμπούρη θα μιλήσει για το πλούσιο έργο των Γάλλων στρατιωτών-ζωγράφων της Στρατιάς της Ανατολής που, με την καλλιέργεια και την αγάπη τους για τη ζωγραφική, κατέθεσαν με τον δικό τους τρόπο ό,τι ωραίο και ευγενικό είχαν μέσα τους, για την πόλη της Θεσσαλονίκης, σε μια εποχή βίας και ολέθρου.

Οι εικόνες αυτές, σημαντικά τεκμήρια, ζωντανεύουν τη μορφή και τη ζωή της πόλης στα δύσκολα χρόνια του Α'Παγκοσμίου, "του πολέμου των χαρακωμάτων".

«Ταξίδι» στον χρόνο από το νέο θεματικό πάρκο 

της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, «Δεινόσαυροι»

Ανοίγει τις πύλες του στις 13 Οκτωβρίου 

και θα διαρκέσει για τρεις μήνες

Στη μηχανή του χρόνου μπαίνουν από τις 13 Οκτωβρίου οι μικροί και μεγάλοι επισκέπτες που θα διαβούν τις πύλες του νέου θεματικού πάρκου της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, «Δεινόσαυροι», το οποίο θα μεταφέρει το κοινό εκατομμύρια χρόνια πριν. 

Από την Παρασκευή,13 Οκτωβρίου και για τρεις ολόκληρους μήνες, έως τις 14 Ιανουαρίου, σε έναν χώρο 2.500 τ.μ., στο περίπτερο 5 του Διεθνούς Εκθεσιακού Κέντρου Θεσσαλονίκης, έρχεται το νέο, εντυπωσιακό θεματικό πάρκο και μουσείο του εθνικού εκθεσιακού φορέα,  «Δεινόσαυροι», με 30 εκθέματα, εκ των οποίων τα 20 είναι γιγάντιοι δεινόσαυροι. Το μεγάλο ρολόι του Γαλαξία και το μικρότερο ρολόι της Γης θα γυρίσουν ταυτόχρονα πάνω από 124 εκατομμύρια χρόνια πίσω, πριν από την προ - προ - προϊστορική εποχή, για να μας παρουσιάσουν -όπως ποτέ έως σήμερα- τους Kυρίαρχους στον πλανήτη Γη: τον τρομακτικό Ρεξ, τον αλλόκοτο Τρικέρατο, τον Βραχιόσαυρο, τον Διπλόσαυρο και τη μεγάλη παρέα τους, που δεν έχει δει ανθρώπινο μάτι από κοντά.

Οι επισκέπτες θα βιώσουν το ταξίδι τους στον χωροχρόνο, καθώς τα τεράστια ρομποτικά εκθέματα, οι κινήσεις, τα χρώματα, οι υφές, οι ήχοι, αλλά και η ατμόσφαιρα του χώρου θα τους δίνουν την αίσθηση ότι βρίσκονται σε πραγματικό χρόνο στην προϊστορική εποχή, οπότε και ζούσαν αυτά τα εντυπωσιακά ζώα. Το πρωτόγνωρο αυτό «ταξίδι» δεν είναι μόνο ψυχαγωγικό, αλλά και εκπαιδευτικό. Σύμφωνα με τον σχεδιασμό του, αποτελεί ένα ξεχωριστό υπόδειγμα θεματικού πάρκου στο είδος του, καθώς περιλαμβάνει πρωτότυπες ιδέες που σχεδιάστηκαν, κατά βάση, για τις ανάγκες της οικογενειακής ψυχαγωγίας και των σχολικών επισκέψεων, οι οποίες καλύπτουν όμως και τα ενδιαφέροντα των μεμονωμένων, ενήλικων και ξένων επισκεπτών. 

Ειδικά τα παιδιά έχουν την ευκαιρία να αλληλεπιδράσουν με τους δεινόσαυρους και το περιβάλλον τους και να ζήσουν μια βιωματική εμπειρία, η οποία θα τους εφοδιάσει με γνώση για την εποχή των δεινοσαύρων, τις κλιματικές αλλαγές και για πολλά ακόμη ενδιαφέροντα πράγματα. Η περιήγηση στο πάρκο διαρκεί περίπου μία ώρα και μετά την υποδοχή των επισκεπτών στον χώρο, δημιουργούνται μικρές ομάδες με επικεφαλής κάποιον «εξερευνητή», ο οποίος οδηγεί τους επισκέπτες καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της περιήγησης. Η θεματική έκθεση δεινοσαύρων έχει σχεδιαστεί από το Παλαιοντολογικό Ίδρυμα FelixdeAzara, το Πανεπιστήμιο Maimonides της Αργεντινής και διαθέτει την «βαριά» υπογραφή και την επιμέλεια του Sebastian Apesteguía, διεθνούς φήμης παλαιοντολόγου και διδάκτορα στις Φυσικές Επιστήμες. Το  θεματικό πάρκο υλοποιήθηκε από τη ΔΕΘ-Helexpo σε συνεργασία με τις εταιρείες Dream Workers και Eksagon Greece. 

«Τα θεματικά πάρκα είναι μια στρατηγική στην οποία επιμένουμε και έχει στεφθεί με μεγάλη επιτυχία. Πιστεύω ότι και το καινούριο μας θεματικό πάρκο με τους δεινόσαυρους θα έχει πολύ μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον για τον κόσμο» σημείωσε σε σημερινή συνέντευξη Τύπου ενόψει της έναρξης του θεματικού πάρκου ο πρόεδρος της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, κ. Τάσος Τζήκας. 

Από την πλευρά του ο διευθύνων σύμβουλος της εταιρείας, κ. Κυριάκος Ποζρικίδης, τόνισε πως δεν υπάρχει άλλο τέτοιας έκτασης πάρκο στην Ελλάδα, ενώ όλα τα εκθέματα είναι καινούρια και παρουσιάζονται για πρώτη φορά. Ο κ. Ποζρικίδης υπογράμμισε τον εκπαιδευτικό χαρακτήρα του θεματικού πάρκου, πέραν του ψυχαγωγικού και έκανε γνωστό ότι υπάρχουν ήδη κλεισμένα ραντεβού από σχολεία για επισκέψεις 15.000 μαθητών. 

«Το μότο μας είναι πως οι δεινόσαυροι δεν εξαφανίστηκαν, αλλά κρύφτηκαν στο περίπτερο 5» ανέφερε το στέλεχος των Dream Workers, κα Βίκυ Βουρνιά, σημειώνοντας μάλιστα πως δεν πρέπει να ξαφνιαστούμε, αν δούμε έναν δεινόσαυρο να τρέχει στην Τσιμισκή. Η ίδια εξήγησε πως το πάρκο στοχεύει στο να καλλιεργήσει και περιβαλλοντικές ανησυχίες στα μικρά παιδιά, τα οποία θα έχουν και την ευκαιρία να γίνουν για λίγο μικροί παλαιοντολόγοι. 

«Ένα τέτοιου βεληνεκούς πάρκο δεν θα μπορούσε να λείπει από τη χώρα που έδωσε το όνομα στους δεινόσαυρους, τις δεινές σαύρες» ανέφερε ο κ. Σταύρος Κωνσταντινίδης της Eksagon Greece, που τόνισε ότι οι «Δεινόσαυροι» θα είναι μια ευχάριστη εξόρμηση για τις οικογένειες της Βόρειας Ελλάδας, όχι μόνο για μικρούς, αλλά και για μεγάλους. 

Το «δεινόδεντρο» θα είναι ο κεντρικός ήρωας του πάρκου και θα δίνει το οικολογικό στίγμα του, σε μια προσπάθεια να ευαισθητοποιηθούν τα παιδιά, όπως σημείωσε το στέλεχος των Dream Workers, κ. Γρηγόρης Αβανίδης. 

Τέλος, ο αναπληρωτής γενικός διευθυντής της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, κ. Αλέξης Τσαξιρλής, τόνισε πως τα καλύτερα είναι μπροστά, ενώ αποκάλυψε πως στον σχεδιασμό των επόμενων θεματικών πάρκων δεν αποκλείονται και διεθνείς συμπαραγωγές.

Πέντε θεματικά πάρκα, 

τέσσερις πόλεις, δύο χώρες

Αυτό τον καιρό τα θεματικά πάρκα που «τρέχει» η ΔΕΘ-Helexpo είναι πέντε, σε τέσσερις πόλεις και δύο χώρες. Θεσσαλονίκη, Αθήνα, Βόλος και Ρώμη θα υποδεχθούν στο επόμενο διάστημα νέα, αλλά και ήδη επιτυχημένα θεματικά πάρκα του εθνικού εκθεσιακού φορέα, που θα ταξιδέψουν το κοινό στον κόσμο της φαντασίας, της αναψυχής και της γιορτής.  

Το θεματικό πάρκο, «Οι Μυστικοί Κόσμοι του Ευγένιου Τριβιζά», μετά τη μεγάλη επιτυχία που σημείωσε στη Θεσσαλονίκη, μεταφέρεται στο Helexpo Maroussi, στην Αθήνα. Με την υπογραφή του Ευγένιου Τριβιζά το θεματικό αυτό πάρκο θα ανοίξει τις πύλες του για το κοινό στις 3 Νοεμβρίου. Ήδη μάλιστα έχουν κλειστεί ραντεβού για επισκέψεις 30.000 μαθητών.

Την ίδια ώρα, το γνωστό σε όλους μας «Εργοστάσιο και Μουσείο Σοκολάτας», μετά τα ρεκόρ επισκεψιμότητας σε Θεσσαλονίκη και Αθήνα, θα βρεθεί από τις 18 Νοεμβρίου στη γειτονική Ιταλία και στο εκθεσιακό κέντρο της Ρώμης, Fiera Roma, με το όνομα «Fabbrica e Museo del Cioccolato». Γίνεται έτσι το πρώτο θεματικό πάρκο που εξάγει η ΔΕΘ-Helexpo. Γεύση σοκολάτας όμως θα πάρει φέτος και ο Βόλος, αφού το Εργαστήριο και Μουσείο Σοκολάτας θα υποδέχεται τον κόσμο από τις 30 Δεκεμβρίου, συμβάλλοντας στο εορταστικό κλίμα της πόλης.

Και βέβαια από τον προγραμματισμό των θεματικών πάρκων δεν θα μπορούσε να λείπει ο γνωστός σε όλους «Αστερόκοσμος», που έρχεται αυτόν τον Δεκέμβριο στη Θεσσαλονίκη, για να δώσει μια άλλη νότα στις γιορτές και να βάλει τους επισκέπτες στο πνεύμα των Χριστουγέννων, με πολλές νέες εκπλήξεις.

Οι τιμές των εισιτηρίων για το θεματικό πάρκο «Δεινόσαυροι» είναι οι ακόλουθες: Γενική είσοδος: 7€/άτομο, μαθητές (σε οργανωμένη επίσκεψη):5€/άτομο, οικογενειακό (2 γονείς & 2 παιδιά):22€, οικογενειακό (3μελής οικογένεια): 18€, άνεργοι (μόνο κάθε Παρασκευή με την επίδειξη κάρτας ανεργίας): 4€, παιδιά μέχρι 3 ετών: δωρεάν. 

Το ωράριο λειτουργίας έχει ως εξής: Δευτέρα-Πέμπτη 09:00-14:00, Παρασκευή 09:00-14:00 και 17:00-20:00, Σάββατο και Κυριακή: 11:00-19:00. Το ωράριο λειτουργίας θα τροποποιηθεί μέσα στις γιορτές των Χριστουγέννων. Επίσης προβλέπεται δωρεάν πάρκινγκ στις εγκαταστάσεις της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo.

Το υπέροχο σπίτι της Julia Roberts στην καρδιά της Νέας Υόρκης

Δεν είναι χολιγουντιανό, δεν είναι σταρλετίστικο, δεν είναι θεατρικό. Είναι ένα ολόλευκο, άνετο σπίτι, με καλό πνεύμα που δείχνει ότι ο ιδιοκτήτης του έχει φιλοσοφήσει τα πράγματα: πρόκειται για το σπίτι της Τζούλια Ρόμπερτς.

Η διάσημη σταρ έχει πολλά σπίτια. Ενα στην Καλιφόρνια, ένα στη Χαβάη και δύο στο Μανχάτταν, εκ των οποίων, το πιο διάσημο είναι αυτό το λευκό όμορφο σπίτι.

Το λευκό αυτό σπίτι βρίσκεται στο σικ Village, στην καρδιά της Νέας Υόρκης και πωλείται για 4,5 εκατομμύρια δολάρια. Εχει μια από τις ωραιότερες θέες στο Μανχάταν, με την τεράστια βεράντα του.

Σε πώληση έχει βάλει και το εξοχικό της στη Χαβάη η όμορφη σταρ για 30 εκατομμύρια δολάρια, ενώ νοικιάζει και το δεύτερο διαμέρισμα στο Μανχάταν. Στόχος της είναι να επικεντρωθεί στη βίλα της στην Καλιφόρνια, μαζί με την οικογένειά της.

1961, The Highwaymen were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Michael'. The US group's only UK Top 40 hit. The Highwaymen were US college students who broke up when they graduated.

1962, The Beatles made their first appearance on the UK singles chart with 'Love Me Do' which peaked at No. 4 on the chart.

1967, The Doors appeared at Danbury High School, Danbury, Connecticut. Before the group came on stage an announcer told the audience not to leave their seats during the performance or they would be escorted out of the venue. There was also a beauty pageant just prior to The Doors coming on stage.

1968, During a Beatles recording session at Abbey Road six saxophonists recorded parts for 'Savoy Truffle' for the forthcoming White Album. George Harrison distorted the saxophones to get the desired sound.

1969, One Hit Wonders Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Je t'aime... Moi non plus.' Banned by many radio stations for its sexual content and sounds and for first time in the history of the show, the BBC’s Top Of The Pops producers refused to air the No. 1 song.

1974, John Denver was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Annie's Song.' The song was a tribute to his wife and was written in 10 minutes while he was on a ski lift.

1976, Pussycat started a four week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Mississippi' making them the first Dutch act to top the UK chart.

1980, The Police scored their second UK No.1 album with their third studio release 'Zenyatta Mondatta', which featured, 'Don't Stand So Close to Me', 'Canary in a Coalmine and 'De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da.'

1981, The Rolling Stones performed at the Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, California, USA, as part of a 50-date North American tour. 95 fans were arrested after trouble broke out at the venue. The tour became the largest grossing of 1981, with $50 million in ticket sales.

1986, Janet Jackson started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'When I Think Of You', her first US No.1, a No.10 hit in the UK.

1986, Madonna was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with the title track from her album. 'True Blue' her third UK No.1. The title came from a favorite expression of her then husband Sean Penn and was a direct tribute to him.

1989, Michael Jackson attended the opening ceremony of the Michael Jackson Auditorium at his former school, Gardner Street Elementary in Hollywood, California. In November, 2003, school officials covered over Jackson's name with painted plywood, leaving only the word "Auditorium" showing, after receiving requests from angry parents when Jackson was booked on suspicion of child molestation.

1990, Drummer Dave Grohl played his first gig with Nirvana when they appeared at the North Shore Surf Club in Olympia.

1991, Apple Computers settled a lawsuit launched by The Beatles record company, Apple Corporation, over name and logo rights. The computer company reportedly paid $29 million to settle the suit.

1995, Tupac Shakur was released from Clinton Correctional Prison on $1.4 Million bail which was posted by Suge Knight. In return 2Pac signed a three album deal with Knight's Death Row Records.

1997, Elton John went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Candle In The Wind 97' A re-write of his 1974 hit about Marilyn Monroe. This version was raising funds for the Diana, Princess of Wales charity, following her death in Paris. It went on to become the biggest selling single in the world ever.

1997, The Verve started a four-week run at No.1 on the UK album chart with their third album Urban Hymns. The band's best-selling release features 'Bitter Sweet Symphony', and 'The Drugs Don't Work'. It is currently ranked the 15th best-selling album in UK.

1999, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee was released on $5000 bail after facing charges relating to a riot at a gig in North Carolina in 1997. Lee allegedly incited the crowd to attack a guard and had also poured a drink over his head.

2003, Mojo magazine readers voted the studio session for Elvis Presley's debut single 'That's All Right' the most pivotal moment in rock history. Bob Dylan's switch from acoustic to electric guitars in 1965 came second, and 'White Riot, the debut single by The Clash released in 1977 was voted third.

2005, Freddie Mercury's  1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow was offered for auction on eBay by his sister, Kashmira Cooke, who had inherited the car from him. The luxury vehicle had not appeared in public since 2002, when it had been used to transport the Bulsara family to the premiere of the Queen stage musical We Will Rock You. It came with a box of Kleenex Mansize tissues left in the car by Freddie.

2006, Madonna adopted a one-year-old boy in Malawi, Africa, the boy's father, Yohane Banda, told reporters "I know he will be very happy in America." The boy's mother had died a week after he was born.

2009, Barbra Streisand went to No.1 on the US album charts with 'Love Is the Answer'. Streisand's ninth No.1 album, making her the only artist to have a number one album in America in five different decades.

2009, 54-year-old Jo Wood, wife of The Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood was granted a divorce after 24 years of marriage on the grounds of adultery. The couple split in 2008 after the guitarist, 64, began a relationship with a 20-year-old woman.

2010, George Michael was released from Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, England after serving four of an eight week sentence for driving under the influence of drugs. The singer had been arrested after crashing his car into the front of a Snappy Snaps store in Hampstead, North London in July of this year.

2012, The Rolling Stones new single, 'Doom And Gloom', was released, the first new studio recordings since 2005's A Bigger Bang. Doom And Gloom was the lead single from the band’s most recent greatest hits collection, GRRR!

2015, Camera Obscura keyboardist Carey Lander died from osteosarcoma, a rare form of blood cancer aged 33. The Scottish indie pop band's first album, Biggest Bluest Hi Fi, was released in 2001.

2016, Sir Rod Stewart said he was "on cloud nine" after being knighted by the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace. The singer was honoured in the Queen's birthday honours list in recognition of his services to music and charity.

Στη σύγχρονη εποχή, τα παραθαλάσσια κομμάτια γης, λίγο-πολύ σε όλες τις περιοχές του πλανήτη και κυρίως σε εκείνες που υπάρχει ανάπτυξη, αποτελούν πολυπόθητα «φιλέτα» και επενδυτές, επιχειρηματίες και μεγιστάνες του πλούτου ξοδεύουν εκατομμύρια για την απόκτηση τους. Δεν είναι τυχαίο μάλιστα το γεγονός ότι σύμφωνα με το Forbes, τα περισσότερα από τα πιο ακριβά ακίνητα στη Γη είτε βρέχονται από κάποια χρυσαφένια, αμμουδερή παραλία είτε από τα κρυστάλλινα νερά κάποιας ονειρικής λίμνης.
Σε αυτή την κατηγορία και σίγουρα στην πρώτη εικοσάδα της υψηλότερης εμπορικής αξίας βρίσκεται η λεπτή λωρίδα γης μήκους 34 χιλιομέτρων που βρέχεται από τα νερά του Ειρηνικού Ωκεανού, στην παραθαλάσσια πόλη Malibu, 48 χιλιόμετρα απόσταση από το κέντρο του Los Angeles, στην Καλιφόρνια.

Το Malibu, όπως και το Beverly Hills, αποτελούν τις πιο ξακουστές περιοχές σχεδόν όλων των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών γιατί σε αυτές έχει συγκεντρωθεί ο μεγαλύτερος πλούτος της χώρας, τόσο σε επίπεδο επενδύσεων όσο και lifestyle (τρόπος ζωής). Κυρίως στο Malibu, έχουν τις κατοικίες και τις εξοχικές επαύλεις τους κάποια από τα μεγαλύτερα αστέρια της βιομηχανίας του Hollywood, ποπ σταρς, στελέχη της βιομηχανίας διασκέδασης και πολλοί επιχειρηματίες και μεγιστάνες του πλούτου που αναζητούν λίγη από τη λάμψη των διάσημων γειτόνων τους. Τα πραγματικά επίχρυσα φιλέτα γης στο Malibu είναι όσα βρίσκονται στη λωρίδα που χωρίζει τη διάσημη λεωφόρο State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) από τις αμμουδιές του Ειρηνικού, εκεί που βίσκονται κάποιες από τις πιο φημισμένες παραλίες όπως οι Surfrider Beach, Westward Beach, Escondido Beach, Paradise Cove, Point Dume, Pirates Cove, Zuma Beach, Trancas και Encinal Bluffs.

Απ’ όλες όμως αυτές τις παραλίες, στις αμμουδιές και στα νερά των οποίων έχουν τσαλαβουτήσει κάποια από τα πιο ποθητά κορμιά στην ιστορία του κινηματογράφου και της μουσικής, μία είναι η φημισμένη «Billionaire’s Beach» («παραλία των δισεκατομμυριούχων»), η Carbon. Στην παραλία των δύο περίπου χιλιομέτρων με την πολύ λεπτή άμμο, που συνήθως είναι βρεγμένη εξαιτίας της παλίρροιας, βρίσκονται κάποια από τα πιο ακριβά κομμάτια γης σε όλες τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, όλα με την κύριο είσοδο τους επί του State Route 1 και με άμεση πρόσβαση στα νερά του Ειρηνικού, τα οποία πολλές φορές φτάνουν μέχρι και τις εξωτερικές σκάλες των πολυτελών κατοικιών.

Η Carbon Beach διαθέτει μόνο δύο εισόδους για το κοινό, στο οποίο μέχρι πολύ πρόσφατα μεγάλες πινακίδες απαγόρευαν την πρόσβαση στο συγκεκριμένο κομμάτι, εξαιτίας κυρίως της απουσίας κάποιου φράκτη που να χωρίζει τις 70 περίπου κατοικίες από την αμμουδιά. Από το 2015 και παρά τις πιέσεις από τους εύπορους κατοίκους του, η δημοτική αρχή αναγκάστηκε να άρει την απαγόρευση και έτσι πλέον η περιοχή έχει γίνει τουριστικό αξιοθέατο, το οποίο όμως φυλάσσεται διακριτικά από εταιρείες ιδιωτικής ασφάλειας. Επιπλέον, οι τιμές των κατοικιών δεν είναι πια το ίδιο υψηλές σε σχέση με το πρόσφατο παρλθόν γιατί ένα από τα μεγάλα πλεονεκτήματα της Carbon Beach, η προστασία δηλαφή της ιδιωτικότητας των κατοίκων της, εξαφανίστηκε (ή περίπου).

Ως προς τις ίδιες τις κατοικίες, οι τιμές πώλησης των οποίων ξεκινούν σήμερα από τα 10-15 εκατομμύρια δολάρια, δεν υπάρχει τίποτα το ιδιαίτερα εντυπωσιακό αρχιτεκτονικά, εκτός ίσως από το περίφημο «Stevens House» που δημιούργησε ο φημισμένος Αμερικανός αρχιτέκτονας John Lautner και στο οποίο κυριαρχούν οι τεράστιες -από το έδαφος ως το ταβάνι- τζαμαρίες και στα χωρίσματα των μπαλκονιών. Κυρίαρχο αρχιτεκτονικό στοιχείο δεν υπάρχει και είναι εμφανές ότι ο κάθε εύπορος ιδιοκτήτης της Carbon Beach έχτιζε σύμφωνα με τα γούστα του, ενώ οι περισσότερες από τις παλαιές βίλες ανακαινίζονται η μία μετά την άλλη, καθώς και εδώ ο ανταγωνισμός μεταξύ των ιδιοκτητών είναι ιδιαίτερα έντονος.

Ως προς τους ίδιους τους κατοίκους της Carbon Beach, σύμφωνα με τις πιο πρόσφατες πληροφορίες του Forbes και του Business Insider, περιλαμβάνονται τα ονόματα των Leonardo DiCaprio, Les Moonves (πρόεδρος και CEO της CBS), Stuart Liner(διάσημος μεγαλοδικηγόρος), Eli Broad (δισεκατομμυριούχος μεσίτης και συλλέκτης έργων τέχνης), Jeffrey Katzenberg (CEO της DreamWorks), Larry Ellison(συνιδιοκτήτης της Oracle), Jamie McCourt, Joel Silver (παραγωγός ταινιών του Hollywood), ενώ στην ίδια παραλία βρίσκονται το πολυτελές ξενοδοχείο Malibu Beach Inn καθώς και το καινούριο Nobu του Matsuhisa και της τρομερής παρέας του.

Τα πιο ωραία κάστρα

 στα ελληνικά νησιά

Η Μύρινα της Λήμνου, η Καστροπολιτεία των ιπποτών της Ρόδου, το παλαιότερο βυζαντινό κάστρο στην Ελλάδα, και άλλα υπέροχα κάστρα στα νησιά.

Πού βρίσκεται το μεγαλύτερο κάστρο του Αιγαίου; Για ποιου νησιού το κάστρο μάλωναν επί πεντακόσια χρόνια δύο αυτοκρατορίες; Και πόσες ευκαιρίες έχεις να κοιμηθείς μέσα σε μια καστροπολιτεία; Εξερευνούμε τα ωραιότερα κάστρα των ελληνικών νησιών, με λίγη βοήθεια από το εξαιρετικό Kastra.eu.
Κάστρο Μήθυμνας, Λέσβος 

Το έχτισαν οι Γενοβέζοι τον 14ο αιώνα, πάνω στα ερείπια βυζαντινού κάστρου που θρύλοι το θέλουν έργο του Ιουστινιανού. Ένας άλλος θρύλος λέει πως τον 15ο αιώνα, πριν η Λέσβος γίνει κομμάτι της οθωμανικής αυτοκρατορίας, η Onetta d’ Oria, σύζυγος του Γενοβέζου κυβερνήτη του νησιού, φόρεσε την πανοπλία του άνδρα της και οδήγησε από εδώ τα στρατεύματά του στη μάχη εναντίον των Οθωμανών.

Το κάστρο με τους δέκα πύργους του και την πανοραμική θέα που φτάνει ως τα τουρκικά παράλια είναι σήμερα ένα από τα δημοφιλέστερα αξιοθέατα του νησιού. Θα το βρείτε ανοιχτό από τις 8.00 ως τις 20.00, με το εισιτήριο να κοστίζει 2€.

Κάστρο της πόλης της Ρόδου
Είναι, μαζί με την Μονεμβασιά και το Κάστρο της Χίου, ένα από τα ελάχιστα «ζωντανά» κάστρα της Ελλάδας: Μια πόλη-κάστρο, με κανονικά σπίτια, κανονικούς ανθρώπους και κανονική ζωή. Θεωρείται, μάλιστα, ένα από τα πιο καλοδιατηρημένα κάστρα του κόσμου. Τη σημερινή του μορφή τη χρωστά στους Ιωαννίτες, αλλιώς γνωστούς και ως ιππότες του Τάγματος του Αγίου Ιωάννη, οι οποίοι που κατείχαν το νησί από το 1309 έως το 1522.

Κάστρο της Αστυπάλαιας

Ένα κάστρο που όμοιό του δεν υπάρχει στο Νότιο Αιγαίο, το ενετικό «Κάστρο της Αστροπλιάς», όπως αναφέρονται σε αυτό οι ντόπιοι, ξεχωρίζει πάνω από την κατάλευκη Χώρα του μικρού νησιού που παρά την ευρύτατα διαδεδομένη παρανόηση δεν ανήκει στις Κυκλάδες, αλλά στα Δωδεκάνησα. Κτισμένο των 13ο αιώνα επάνω στα ερείπια της αρχαίας Ακρόπολης, περιστοιχίζεται από σπιτάκια που μοιάζουν κυκλαδίτικα, οι εξωτερικοί τοίχοι των οποίων δημιουργούν κανονικό τείχος, με μικρά παράθυρα για πολεμίστρες. Με έντονο φρουριακό χαρακτήρα για να προστατεύει τους Ενετούς από τους πειρατές, το κάστρο βλέπει στα δύο φυσικά λιμάνια του νησιού. Μέσα στο κάστρο βρίσκονται οι περίφημες κατάλευκες εκκλησίες με τα πέτρινα καμπαναριά: της Παναγιάς του Κάστρου, που χρονολογείται από το 1853 και του Αγίου Γεωργίου, του 1790.

Κάστρο της Χίου

Χτισμένο από τους Γενοβέζους το 1328, το Κάστρο της Χίου άλλαξε πολλές φορές χέρια: Έγινε για λίγο βυζαντινό, το ξαναπήραν πίσω οι Γενοβέζοι, ύστερα ήρθαν οι Οθωμανοί, μετά οι Ενετοί, ξανά οι Οθωμανοί και στο τέλος η προσάρτηση της Χίου, μαζί με τα κάστρα της, το 1922 στο ελληνικό κράτος. Σήμερα, μέσα από τα τείχη του κάστρου ζει και αναπνέει ένας μικρός οικισμός, που αριθμεί 650 κατοίκους.

Μύρινα, Λήμνος

Το μεγαλύτερο κάστρο του Αιγαίου χτίστηκε από τους Ενετούς, επάνω σε προγενέστερο βυζαντινό κάστρο, το οποίο με τη σειρά του είχε χτιστεί επάνω σε αρχαία ακρόπολη. Βέβαια, το μεγαλύτερο τμήμα της εικόνας που βλέπουμε σήμερα οφείλεται στους Γενοβέζους, που το πήραν από τους Ενετούς και το αναδιαμόρφωσαν τον 15ο αιώνα, πριν οι κάτοικοι του νησιού ζητήσουν το 1462 από τον τούρκο σουλτάνο να τους απαλλάξει από την παρουσία των Γενοβέζων που γενικώς δεν ήταν πολύ συμπαθείς. Από εκεί και πέρα ξεκινά μια περίοδος 500 χρόνων που το κάστρο είναι οθωμανικό-ενετικό-ξανά οθωμανικό-ξανά ενετικό και ούτω καθεξής, μέχρι το 1912 που η Λήμνος προσαρτάται στο ελληνικό κράτος. Το εντυπωσιακό κάστρο απλώνεται σήμερα σε μια έκταση 117 στρεμμάτων, με τριπλά τείχη και 14 πύργους.

Είναι επισκέψιμο Τρίτη έως Κυριακή, 8.30-15.00, και η είσοδος είναι ελεύθερη.

Αγγελόκαστρο, Κέρκυρα 

Είναι ένα από τα πιο παλιά κάστρα στην Ελλάδα: Είναι βυζαντινό, και χρονολογείται από τον 7ο μ.Χ. αιώνα. Είναι σκαρφαλωμένο πάνω στο βράχο, στο ψηλότερο σημείο της κερκυραϊκής ακτογραμμής, πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι πρέπει να υπολογίσετε μια δεκαπεντάλεπτη ανάβαση σκαλοπατιών για να φτάσετε στην είσοδό του –αν ρωτάτε, ναι, αξίζει με το παραπάνω τον κόπο.

Θα το βρείτε ανοιχτό από τις 10.00 ως τις 15.00 καθημερινά εκτός Δευτέρας, με το εισιτήριο να κοστίζει 3€.

Φορτέτζα, Ρέθυμνο

Το ενετικό κάστρο που φαίνεται από κάθε πιθανή και απίθανη γωνιά του Ρεθύμνου, χτίστηκε το 1573 επάνω σε μια χερσόνησο που κάποιες διηγήσεις την θέλουν στην αρχαιότητα νησάκι, το οποίο με την πάροδο του χρόνου ενώθηκε με την στεριά. Πριν γίνει αυτό που βλέπουμε σήμερα, ήταν το κάστρο ενός Γενοβέζου πειρατή, του Πεσκατόρε, που είχε εδώ τα λημέρια του τον 13ο αιώνα. Οι Ενετοί έχτισαν το κάστρο τους επάνω σε εκείνο, και έκαναν τη Φορτέτζα μια μικρή καστροπολιτεία που έσφυζε από ζωή μέχρι τις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα, όταν ξεκίνησε η απομάκρυνση των κατοίκων της προς άλλες γειτονιές του Ρεθύμνου.

Σήμερα, το σχετικά καλά διατηρημένο κάστρο είναι επισκέψιμο Τρίτη έως Κυριακή, 8.00-19.00, με το εισιτήριο να κοστίζει 3€.

Στο ΦΕΚ η απόφαση για δωρεάν

 ίντερνετ στα απομακρυσμένα νησιά 

Στην Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως δημοσιεύθηκε η υπουργική απόφαση για τη δωρεάν ευρυζωνική σύνδεση στους μόνιμους κατοίκους των απομακρυσμένων νησιών της χώρας.

Η επιχορήγηση αυτή- με προϋπολογισμό 3,5 εκατ. ευρώ- αφορά στους μόνιμους

 κατοίκους, τους δημόσιους υπαλλήλους και όσους υπηρετούν στο στρατό και

 σε σώματα ασφαλείας, διευκρινίζεται στο ΦΕΚ.

Οι πολίτες θα έχουν τη δυνατότητα για την απόκτηση κινητής ή δορυφορικής

 ευρυζωνικής σύνδεσης στο διαδίκτυο. Τα εισοδηματικά κριτήρια για άγαμους 

δικαιούχους αφορούν συνολικό ετήσιο εισόδημα το οποίο δεν πρέπει να 

υπερβαίνει τα 16.000 ευρώ, ενώ για τους έγγαμους το ποσό διαμορφώνεται 

στα 30.000 ευρώ. Η παροχή είναι ανά νοικοκυριό.

100 Essential Film Scores of the 20th Century

Preparing any survey of film scores presents a problem. Which ones to choose and which ones to leave out?

This is not meant to be the definitive film score list. I don't believe that is possible. Tastes change over time. 

This survey is meant to be representative of 100 essential scores
from films in English. No foreign language films are included.

It covers the years from 1933 to 1993. 

More than 50% of the titles are in the so-called Golden Age (1930s-1950s). Many believe that the most respected and beloved films were made during those three decades. Of course there have been significant films made in other decades as well, only not as many.

Naturally some people may not agree with my choices. It is not possible to please everyone. There are fans of individual composers who would probably pick just about every film score by one composer. 

There are three composers of the mid to late 20th century which have been given more titles because they provided the most memorable film scores: Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams.

This doesn't mean that other film composers are unworthy and more of them would be on a longer list. 

It was a very difficult task to place one great film score ahead of another great one. The numbering is meant to establish some order for the 100 film scores and is obviously a matter of opinion -- mine. It is NOT based on any fan polls or other online surveys. 

Each film score was chosen as representative of significant originality more than their popularity with audiences over the years. 
The only series to make this list were for STAR WARS, with two films listed. 

All the numbers have film title, date, and the film composer's name.

 20 Essential Hollywood Musicals    

Selected by Roger Hall, film music historian and

As expected, it was very difficult to select such a small number of Hollywood musicals from the vast number created, from 1929 onward.  

My choices were based on three main items in the films:  originality, film performances, and overall production quality.  

They include some Hollywood musicals that were originally Broadway shows.  

Here then are my choices for 20 essential Hollywood musicals in the order I have chosen to list them:   

1.   SHALL WE DANCE (1937) - RKO Radio 

Directed by Mark Sandrich.  Music by George Gershwin/ Lyrics by Ira Gershwin. 
Songs:  "(I've Got) Beginner's Luck"; "Slap That Bass"; "They All Laughed"; "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off"; "They Can't Take That Away From Me" (Academy Award nomination); "Shall We Dance." 

A musical treat that has everything - witty dialogue (Edward Everett Horton and Eric Blore are a real hoot), classy sets (Art Deco reigns supreme), terrific dancing (by Astaire and Rogers of course) and to top it all off - some of the best songs ever written by the Gershwin brothers, including the only one of their songs to receive an Academy Award nomination.  This is the musical with Astaire and Rogers dancing on roller skates.  I believe this is the best of the Astaire-Rogers musicals. A superb musical which continues to shine in its black & white brilliance!

2.   SWING TIME (1936) - RKO Radio 

Directed by George Stevens. Music by Jerome Kern/ Lyrics by Dorothy Fields.
Songs:  "Pick Yourself Up"; "The Way You Look Tonight" (Academy Award for Best Song); "A Fine Romance"; "Bojangles of Harlem"; "Never Gonna Dance." 

Another great Astaire-Rogers pairing, with delightful comic exchanges by Victor Moore and Helen Broderick and wonderful songs by Kern and Fields.  At times, a bit overdone in its silliness, but still a great musical to watch, especially the glorious finale number: "Never Gonna Dance." 

3.   TOP HAT (1935) - RKO Radio 

Directed by Mark Sandrich.  music and lyrics by Irving Berlin.
Songs:  "No Strings"; "Isn't This a Lovely Day (To Be Caught in the Rain)"; "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails"; "Cheek to Cheek" (Academy Award nomination); "The Piccolino." 

This is the earliest released musical in this Astaire-Rogers trilogy of treats.  A wonderfully entertaining musical with three classic Irving Berlin songs: "Isn't This a Lovely Day?"; "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails"; and "Cheek to Cheek." The other two songs are not as good, and "The Piccolino" is an obvious attempt to capitalize on the previous year's Oscar winning dance song, "The Continental" (not written by Berlin).  Full of laughs and marvelous dancing. 

4.   SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (1952) - M-G-M
Directed by Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly. Music by Nacio Herb Brown/ Lyrics by Arthur Freed.   Academy Award nomination for Best Scoring:  Lennie Hayton.
Songs:  "Singin' in the Rain"; "Fit as a Fiddle" (music: Al Goodman, Al Goodhart); "All I Do is Dream of You"; "Make 'Em Laugh"; "I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin'"; "Should I?"; "Beautiful Girl"; "You Were Meant for Me"; "Good Morning"; "Would You?" 

A musical that would probably be at the top of many film fan lists, it has a fun (though sometimes a bit too campy) story, terrific songs and singing by Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds, plus several classic dance routines by Gene Kelly ("Singin' in the Rain" was originally used in THE HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929) and Donald O'Connor ("Make 'Em Laugh").  Some of the songs are not as good ("Fit as a Fiddle" and "Would You?"), but this is still a delightful musical and fun to watch over and over again.   

5.   WEST SIDE STORY (1961) - United Artists

Directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins.  Music by Leonard Bernstein/ Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. 10 Academy Awards:  Best Picture; Best Supporting Actor (George Chakiris); Best Supporting Actress (Rita Moreno); Best Scoring (Saul Chaplin, Johnny Green, Sid Ramin, Irwin Kostal); and 6 other categories.   

Songs:  "Jet Song"; "Something's Coming"; "Maria"; "America"; "Tonight"; "Gee, Officer Krupke!"; "I Feel Pretty"; "One Hand, One Heart"; "Cool"; "A Boy Like That"; "I Have a Love"; "Somewhere."  

The best Broadway musical to be made into a film and the one which received the most Academy Awards.  The Hollywood musical features superbly energetic choreography by Jerome Robbins, a very good cast of actors (except for Richard Beymer), and truly classic songs by Leonard Bernstein and Stephan Sondheim.  All of these ingredients are expertly put together under the great direction of Robert Wise.  A classic film musical.     

6.   YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (1942) - Warner Brothers

Directed by Michael Curtiz. Music & lyrics by George M. Cohan.  Academy Awards for Best Actor (James Cagney); Best Scoring of Musical Picture (Ray Heindorf, Heinz Roemheld); and Sound Recording.  

Songs:  "I Was Born in Virginia"; "Harrigan"; "The Yankee Doodle Boy"; "Give My Regards to Broadway"; "Oh, You Wonderful Girl"; "I'll Be True to You"; "Belle of the Barbers' Ball"; "Mary's a Grand Old Name"; "Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway"; "So Long, Mary"; "You're a Grand Old Flag"; "Over There."    

World War II patriotism made this musical one of the most popular during the 1940s.  Featuring a memorable, Oscar winning performance by James Cagney, this is a very entertaining musical about the life of the five Cohans.  A great flag-waving tribute to George M. Cohan. 

7.   SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS (1954) - M-G-M  

Directed by Stanley Donen.  Music by Gene de Paul/ Lyrics by Johnny Mercer.   Academy Award for Best Scoring of Musical Picture (Adolphe Deutsch and Saul Chaplin).  

Songs:  "Bless Your Beautiful Hide"; "Wonderful, Wonderful Day"; "When You're in Love"; "Goin' Co'tin"; "Lonesome Polecat"; "Sobbin' Women"; "Spring, Spring, Spring." 

Most film fans remember this lively musical for the incredibly athletic choreography by Michael Kidd.  But the songs and story are also enjoyable and fit the story snugly, like a warm winter overcoat. Among the best songs by de Paul and Mercer are: "Bless Your Beautiful Hide"; "When You're in Love"; and "Spring, Spring, Spring."  A dancing and singing delight! 

8.   THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) - M-G-M

Directed by Victor Fleming (King Vidor, uncredited).  Music by Harold Arlen/ Lyrics by E.Y. Harburg.  Academy Awards for Best Song and Original Score - Herbert Stothart. 

Songs:  "Over the Rainbow"; "Ding, Dong! The Witch is Dead"; "We're Off to See the Wizard"; "Follow the Yellow Brick Road"; "If I Only Had a Brain"; "The Merry Old Land of Oz"; "If I Were King of the Forest." 

This is the best fantasy musical ever made.  Both the score by Stothart and songs by Arlen and Harburg won Oscars - the first time that both music awards were given for the same film.  For children of all ages, this musical is a delightful reminder of wonder and magic in the merry old land of Oz. 

9.   1776 (1972) - Warner Brothers

Directed by Peter Hunt.  Music & lyrics by Sherman Edwards. 

Songs:  "Sit Down, John"; "Fiddle, Twiddle and Resolve"; "Till Then"; "The Lees of Virginia"; "But, Mr. Adams"; "Yours, Yours, Yours"; "He Plays the Violin"; "Momma Look Sharp"; "The Egg"; "Molasses to Rum"; "Is Anybody There." 

The best musical about American history, this underrated film has some of the sharpest dialogue (by Peter Stone) from any Broadway show of its era.  The songs by Sherman Edwards - a former public school history teacher - are historically accurate and fit the story perfectly.  Of special note is the terrific orchestrations by Eddie Sauter.  Historical humor and music mixed together with great performances by William Daniels (as John Adams), Howard da Silva (as Benjamin Franklin), Ken Howard (as Thomas Jefferson), and all the others.       

10.   THE BAND WAGON (1953) - M-G-M

Directed by Vincente Minelli.  Music by Arthur Schwartz/ Lyrics by Howard Dietz. Academy Award nomination for Best Scoring (Adolph Deutsch).  

Songs:  "By Myself";  "A Shine on Your Shoes"; "That's Entertainment"; "Dancing in the Dark"; "Something to Remember You By"; "High and Low"; "I Love Louisa"; "New Sun in the Sky"; "I Guess I'll Have to Change My Plan"; "Louisiana Hayride"; "Triplets"; "The Girl Hunt" (narration by Alan Jay Lerner). 

Among the classiest musicals ever made at M-G-M, this one contains a superb collection of songs by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz.  Several classic dance routines by Fred Astaire ("A Shine on Your Shoes") and with Cyd Charise ("Dancing in the Dark" and "The Girl Hunt").   

11.   THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965) - 20th Century-Fox

Directed by Robert Wise. music by Richard Rodgers/ lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.  Academy Awards for Best Picture; Director; Film Editing; Scoring of Musical Picture (Irwin Kostal).   

Songs:  "The Sound of Music"; "How Do Solve a Problem Like Maria"; "I Have Confidence in Me" (lyrics: Richard Rodgers); "Sixteen Going on Seventeen"; "My Favorite Things"; "Do Re Mi"; "Lonely Goatherd"; "Edelweiss"; "So Long, Farewell"; "How Can Love Survive?"; "Climb Ev'ry Mountain"; "Something Good" (lyrics: Richard Rodgers). 

12.   EASTER PARADE (1948) - M-G-M

Directed by Charles Walter. Music & lyrics by Irving Berlin.  Academy Award for Best Scoring of Musical Picture (Johnny Green and Roger Edens).

20th Century

The classification of a song is a short piece having both words and music, and thus there are no instrumental works included on this list.

The categories include: 

classical
folk
blues
jazz
pop (or easy listening)
stage musicals
movie songs
country & western
rhythm & blues
rock n' roll

This list consists of mainly American songs with a few British ones as well and not meant to slight songs in other languages such as Italian, French or Spanich, but necessary to keep the list of a manageable size. 

Naturally not all the great songs could be included. 

It is more concentrated on the earlier decades of the 1920s-1950s which are not as well known to some listeners and need to be preserved. 

Naturally it is a matter of subjective opinion which song might be more worthwhile than another.  

The survey is based on three criteria: 

1. songs which are representative of a musical style.
2. songs evoking their historical period.
3.songs chosen because of their popularity.

The list of 100 songs is not based solely on surveys such as the Billboard charts, but the authoritative reference books by Joel Whitburn were used as sources and are indicated where appropriate.

Τα νέα χλιδάτα «λιμάνια» για τα πλωτά παλάτια... 

Οι ελιτίστικες μαρίνες για τα superyacht των διασήμων στη Μεσόγειο, από το Porto Cervo της Σαρδηνίας έως το Port Hercules του Μονακό, προσέφεραν πάντα τη χλιδή, τη ψυχαγωγία και υπηρεσίες υψηλής ποιότητας στους μεγιστάνες πελάτες τους. Αλλά με την αύξηση του αριθμού των superyachts παγκοσμίως, δημιουργήθηκαν οι ανάγκες για καινούριες, ίσως ακόμα πιο εντυπωσιακές. Ιδού κάποιες από τις νέες, ταχύτατα εξελισσόμενες μαρίνες στη Μεσόγειο και κάποιες πληροφορίες που ενδιαφέρουν:

Barcelona

Opened in 2009, the Vilanova Grand Marina offers berths for yachts up to 120 meters. Located just outside of Barcelona, it offers restaurants, luxury shops, and stunning architecture with stunning views. OneOcean Port Vell launched in 2014 and is capable of berthing vessels up to 190 meters. The 148-berth marina offers members of its private club top-of-the-line amenities and services.

Croatia

With towering mountains and Mediterranean waters, Croatia has quickly developed into a popular destination for superyachts. The ACI Marina Split, in particular, offers yacht owners much to explore: quaint cobbled streets, striking architecture, the Diocletian’s castle and a vibrant nightlife are all part of the draw. Offering over 350 berths for superyachts up to 90 meters, the marina also includes shops, restaurants, fuel and repair services, among other amenities.

Cyprus

Cyprus’s Limassol Marina has caught the attention of yacht owners from Europe and the Middle East since opening in 2014. With 650 berths, Limassol marina can accommodate motorboats and yachts up to 115 meters. The development is Cyprus’s first superyacht marina and offers luxury residential properties and state-of-the-art-marina facilities with a diverse mix of restaurants and cafes. According to Yiorgos Georghiou, sales director at Limassol Marina, the citizenship program for property investment in Cyprus has also attracted Latin Americans and South Africans.

Malta

Located in the centre of the Mediterranean, Malta is the perfect jumping off point for cruising the Mediterranean with Spain and the French Riviera to the west, and Turkey, Greece and Cyprus to the east. With its clear blue Mediterranean waters, Malta’s Grand Harbor Marina is set against the scenic background of a Unesco World Heritage site, and among historic waterfront buildings and offers berths for super-yachts up to 135 meters. The Malta Environment & Planning Authority has several new marina projects on its books that are awaiting planning permission.

Montenegro

The tiny coastal nation of Montenegro has unveiled luxury marinas and yacht-friendly developments. Montenegro’s spectacular landscape amid historic architecture has increasingly attracted international attention from developers and buyers. Home of the Porto Montenegro, a luxury marina and resort village that began in 2008 with 85 berths and one building, now has 450 berths and plans to reach up to 800 berths. The luxury project, one of several underway in this Balkan state, has unveiled 188 units across six residential complexes so far.

Bodrum, Turkey

Aiming to attract high-net-worth individuals, Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula has developed at a rapid rate over the past few years, according to Heike Tanbay, the owner of Engel & Völkers, Bodrum. The Yalikavak Palmarina, which opened in 2013, has expanded to host yachts of 80 meters and has added shopping options. The marina provides more than 70 berths for super-yachts measuring 50 meters and above. It is situated along the Turkish Riviera (also known as the Turquoise Coast), known for its beaches.

Marina di Scarlino, Tuscany, Italy

The marinas of Capri and Portofino in Italy have long held elite status in the world of yachting. The new kid on the block, the Marina di Scarlino, affiliated with famed fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo, unveiled in an unexpected yet revered location in 2013: Tuscany. Offering 950 berths and 42 apartments, the project is the brainchild of Leonardo Ferragamo. Its floating piers are equipped with a plethora of services and the marina also has a large boatyard offering a comprehensive service to its guests and boat owners. The Tuscan coastline, although lesser known than other traditional destinations for the world of yachts, is a place of rare beauty, says Massimiliano Perversi, ‎General manager of Marina di Scarlino, and offers proximity to Florence, Siena and Pisa. The second phase of the project will see the construction of another 36 residences directly overlooking the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and will commence in 2016.
