Εργαζόταν στο Δημοτικό Ραδιόφωνο Θεσσαλονίκης «FM100» για είκοσι και πλέον χρόνια.
Η κηδεία του θα τελεστεί αύριο στις 11:30 το πρωί στον ιερό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου Κάτω Σχολαρίου Θεσσαλονίκης.

Things were not going well and during a break, Richard and his producer; Bumps Blackwell went to the Dew Drop Inn for lunch. The Beatles searched for a quiet, secluded field in which they could conduct filming but once they'd disembarked from the bus and set up for shooting, scores of onlookers began to crowd around, causing a traffic jam that required the police to step in.
1968, Roy Orbison's house in Nashville burnt down, his two eldest sons both died in the blaze. Orbison was on tour in the UK at the time of the accident.
1968, The first episode of the comic strip 'The Archies' was aired on US TV. The recording group had contributions from Ron Dante, Andy Kim, Jeff Barry and others. Rock mogul, Don Kirshner (who also brought us The The Monkees) was put in charge of the studio group. 1974, Stevie Wonder started a two-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with 'Fulfillingness First Finale' his second US No.1. The album received three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, in 1974.
1979, The film Quadrophenia was released. Based on The Who's 1973 rock opera the film featured Phil Daniels, Toyah Willcox, Ray Winstone, Michael Elphick and Sting.
1981, The Rolling Stones played a secret pre-tour warm-up show at the Sir Morgan's Cove club in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. Billed as Little Boy Blue & The Cockroaches, a local radio station announced that the Stones were in town, resulting in the club being besieged by over 4,000 fans attempted to get into the 350-person venue. Police were drafted in to control the crowds, which resulted in eleven fans being arrested.
1984, David Bowie won Video of the year for 'China Girl' at the first MTV Video awards. The song co-written by David Bowie and Iggy Pop during their years in Berlin, first appeared on Pop's album The Idiot released in 1977.
1989, Cuban bandleader and composer Perez Prado died of a stroke in Mexico City. Had the US & UK 1955 No.1 single 'Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White'.
1994, US singer Steve Earle was sentenced to 1 year in jail after being found guilty of possession of crack cocaine.
1995, The lyrics to The Beatles song 'Getting Better' hand-written by Paul McCartney sold for £161,000 at a Sotheby's auction in London.
1996, Peter Andre scored his first UK No.1 single when 'Flava' went to the top for one week. The English-born Australian singer’songwriter became a major television personality after taking part in the British reality TV series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!; during which he met, fell in love with and subsequently married former glamour model Jordan. The couple split in May 2009 after three and a half years of marriage.
1997, Over 2000 fans watched Pete Townshend unveil a English Heritage Blue Plaque at 23 Brook Street, Mayfair London, to mark where Jimi Hendrix had lived in 1968-69. Hendrix was the first pop star to be awarded with the plaque.

2005, HMV stores in Canada removed Bob Dylan CDs from their shelves in protest at the singer's deal to only sell his new album in Starbucks after he signed an exclusive contract with the coffee giant. The chain has previously boycotted CDs by Alanis Morissette and The Rolling Stones to complain at exclusive deals.
2005, The newly refurbished Grateful Dead's original tour bus went on display at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. The 1965 Gillig bus, which Jerry Garcia and the rest of the Dead dubbed ‘Sugar Magnolia’ was used by the band on their frequent tours across the US between 1967 and 1985. The ceiling was lined with hundreds of vintage rock posters featuring The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin and others who had visited the bus.

2008, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson was one of the pilots who flew specially chartered flights after 85,000 tourists were stranded in the US, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe after Britain's third-largest tour operator went into administration. The singer, who had worked for the airline Astraeus for nine years, took up flying during a low point in his solo career after he quit the band in 1993.
2011, It was reported that a Swedish Bob Dylan fan had been arrested for singing Bob Dylan songs outside his ex-girlfriends house. The love-sick man had also cobbled together a group of five other men to serve as vocal accompaniment for the late-night live performance, each of who donned hoodies with their hoods up. But soon after the man began to serenade his ex, who had previously taken out a restraining order against him, she called the police, leaving 50-year-old guitarist blowin in the wind. 'I had the idea that I'd play a Bob Dylan song for her,' the man told police. (No word on which song, unfortunately.)
2013, Kanye West was charged with battery and attempted theft over a fight with a photographer at Los Angeles Airport in July. Paparazzo Daniel Ramos sued Mr West after the singer apparently punched him and threw his camera to the ground. If found guilty, West faced a maximum penalty of six months in prison.
2014, A life-size bronze statue of singer Amy Winehouse was unveiled in Camden, north London. Her father, Mitch Winehouse, said she was "in love with Camden" and it was the place fans associated with her. Created by sculptor Scott Eaton, the statue features the Back to Black star with her hand on hip and her trademark beehive hairdo.

1983, Born on this day, Amy Winehouse UK singer, songwriter. Winehouse's debut album, Frank (2003), was a critical success in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her follow-up album, Back to Black (2006), led to five 2008 Grammy Awards, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night, and made her the first British female to win five Grammys. Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, aged 27. Her album Back to Black posthumously became, for a time, the UK's best-selling album of the 21st century.

Peter Reginald Frederick Hall was born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on 22 November 1930.
His father was a railway clerk, later a stationmaster. The family was not well-off.
"People always giggle when I say that I grew up on a single-line railway station with no running water and no electricity," he told the Guardian in 2005. "But, in the 1930s, that's the way it was."

Sir Peter remembered his father as a man of little ambition, adding that it was his mother, Grace, who was the driving force in the family.
The daughter of a butcher, she had a sound belief in the principles of a good education and "getting on", and Hall inherited her drive.
The family moved to Cambridge, where Hall had his first taste of a public production - Mozart's Requiem in King's College.
He was immediately smitten and began staying regularly with a relative in London so he could attend the theatre and opera.
Scholarship
"I saw Gielgud's Hamlet when I was 12," he later recalled, "standing at the back for sixpence."
Although German bombs were falling on London, people crowded into theatres as an escape from the war, and he witnessed some of the greatest actors of the age.
Watching Ralph Richardson, Laurence Olivier and Peggy Ashcroft quickly convinced Hall that he wanted to become a theatre director.

"There wasn't any question in my head of doing anything else," he said.
Following a spell of National Service in the RAF, he won a scholarship to St Catharine's College, Cambridge, to study English.
In his third year, he booked a theatre and made his directorial debut with a performance of Jean Anouilh's Point of Departure.
Unimpressed
"I remember an almost physical sense of release and pleasure rehearsing a play," he later recalled. "I thought, this is what I want to do."
His final play at Cambridge, Luigi Pirandello's Henry IV, brought him good reviews and an invitation to make his professional directorial debut at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, in 1953.
He also secured a job at London's Arts Theatre as a script reviewer. When the artistic director John Fernald left, Hall found himself running his own West End theatre at the age of 24.

Within weeks of beginning his tenure, the script of Waiting for Godot arrived. Hall was initially unimpressed.
"I haven't the foggiest idea what some of it is about," he told the cast. "But if we stop to discuss every line, we will never open."
In the event, Hall's production of what was the play's British debut had the effect of making him one of the most talked-about directors in the country.
He appeared on the BBC, was interviewed for Vogue magazine and was invited to direct the stage version of the musical Gigi.
Imagination
That show starred the French actress Leslie Caron. She and Hall married in 1956.
But the biggest boost that Godot gave to Hall's career was the invitation to run the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
At the time, the theatre merely ran a regional Shakespeare festival - not nearly enough for the ambitious Hall.

The concept of a Royal Shakespeare Company was born in Hall's imagination, in which he envisaged a London theatre and a move into a wider range of drama.
He alternately bullied and cajoled the theatre management and eventually got his way. The newly-born RSC opened its first London season at the Aldwych Theatre in 1961.
Its ensemble cast - a relatively new concept at the time - included exciting young actors such as Peter O'Toole and Vanessa Redgrave.
He also recruited Trevor Nunn and later Peter Brook. The appointment of the latter led to the controversial Theatre of Cruelty season in 1964.
Stress and breakdowns
It was an exciting time both for the theatre and the wider arts world, and Hall revelled in the new socially liberal scene of the 1960s.
But the pressures were taking their toll after a series of mental and physical breakdowns.
His marriage to Leslie Caron had ended in 1965 after her affair with the actor Warren Beatty, and Hall later married his assistant, Jacky Taylor.

In 1968, he quit the RSC and briefly disappeared from the limelight.
For a time, he turned his attention to directing opera, both at Glyndebourne and the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden.
In 1972, it emerged that he had been offered the job of running the National Theatre, which was due to move into its new modernist home on London's South Bank.
His appointment attracted a great deal of flak, not least from those who had been passed over for the job.
Off-stage battles
Jonathan Miller referred to him as "a safari-suited bureaucrat" who would suck all of Britain's talent and cash into the new theatre.
Hall, never the most gregarious of men, was prone to rub people up the wrong way.
He was accused of theatrical class distinction, grovelling to the stars and treating lesser mortals with disdain.

However, others praised him for going into battle - not least to secure the funds the theatre needed to achieve a sound financial footing.
Not only did he have to contend with funding, there was also the problem of the building itself, which was behind schedule and over budget.
Hall finally got things under way in 1976 with a production of Beckett's Happy Days, before the unions walked out and closed the building down.
A year later he received a knighthood for services to British theatre.
'Five years too long'
But, after the early trials and tribulations, things improved. Sir Peter managed to successfully establish the theatre and sent the company out on a series of well-received foreign tours.
He quit the National in 1986. "I was ready to leave," he said. "Fifteen years is probably five years too long."

He continued to direct, highlights being his 1988 production of Orpheus Descending and a musical version of Ionesco's Rhinoceros, for which Hall wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the libretto.
Sir Peter was still working on the eve of his ninth decade, with a production of Pygmalion at the Hong Kong Arts Festival.
While his first love was the stage, he occasionally ventured into film and television.
Most of these forays involved classical plays and opera, although he did direct Channel 4's 1992 adaptation of Mary Wesley's novel The Camomile Lawn.
'A schemer'
He was appointed director emeritus of the Rose Theatre, Kingston upon Thames, enticing Dame Judi Dench to appear in his sell-out production of A Midsummer's Night Dream in 2010.
After divorcing Jacky Taylor in 1981, he married the opera singer Maria Ewing in 1982.
The marriage ended in 1990 and he married his fourth wife, Nicky Frei, the same year.
Sir Peter Hall's great gift was that he excelled as an administrator as well as a theatre director.

"I love politics," he once said. "I do love committees, I do love getting things done."
His detractors saw him as a schemer and a manipulator, but there was little doubt about his talent as a director. He always preferred to act as an interpreter of playwright's work, rather than imposing his own concept.
The playwright Harold Pinter, many of whose works Sir Peter directed, was clear about his abilities. "I've seen productions of my work in various places that have really distorted the whole thing," he said.
"Peter never allows this. He doesn't impose, he discovers."
Beneath the Antarctic ice, Weddell seals play in underwater caverns. Resplendent quetzals deliver food to their young in a Costa Rican cloud forest. And an elephant gazes at a photographer as her herd quenches its thirst by the edge of a waterhole.
Even as hurricanes and wildfires wreak havoc on much of the globe, the natural world is still full of beauty. The images in the 2017 Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest are a perfect reminder of that.
The contest is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. One hundred images were selected from more than 50,000 contest entries from 92 countries around the world. The selection that we've published below are finalists in various categories — and two of the photos were taken by kids between the ages of 11 and 14.
The competition's winners will be announced October 17, and the full exhibition will be on display in London from October 20, 2017 through the spring of 2018. For those who can't go see the prints in person, here are 13 of the most stunning wildlife photos of 2017.

Κορυφώνεται όσο πλησιάζουμε προς το τέλος της εβδομάδας το ενδιαφέρον για την 82ηΔΕΘ, που χθες, για μία ακόμη μέρα, γέμισε με χιλιάδες επισκέπτες. Ο Γιώργος Νταλάρας και ο Λαυρέντης Μαχαιρίτσας ενθουσίασαν το κοινό, που από νωρίς είχε συγκεντρωθεί μπροστά από τη σκηνή των music events.
Απόψε τη σκυτάλη παίρνουν η Πίτσα Παπαδοπούλου και ο Στέλιος Διονυσίου, σε ένα αφιέρωμα στον μεγάλο λαϊκό συνθέτη Χρήστο Νικολόπουλο. Οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να παρακολουθούν τις συναυλίες με το εισιτήριο εισόδου στην 82ηΔΕΘ.
Χθες το απόγευμα η διοίκηση της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo υποδέχθηκε και τίμησε τους ποδηλάτες Jochen Hardt και Torsten Reh, οι οποίοι ξεκίνησαν στις 25 Αυγούστου από την πόλη Simmerbach της Γερμανίας για μία ποδηλατική πορεία προς την Ελλάδα (HOPE FOR A SMILE TOUR) με την βοήθεια χορηγών για κάθε χιλιόμετρο που διένυαν. Το ποσό που συγκεντρώθηκε θα διανεμηθεί ισόποσα σε τέσσερις κοινωφελείς οργανώσεις. Μάλιστα, οι ποδηλάτες παρέδωσαν χθες, εντός της ΔΕΘ, μέρος του ποσού στο «Χαμόγελο του παιδιού».
Σήμερα στις 17:30 στο πάρκο του κτιρίου διοίκησης θα πραγματοποιηθεί από τον Πανελλήνιο Σύλλογο Επισκεπτών Υγείας μια διαδραστική δράση εξοικείωσης παιδιών 5 έως 10 ετών με τον εμβολιασμό, με τίτλο «Ο Κοκκινομυτούλης εμβολιάζεται».
Στις 19:30 το Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος θα δώσει την παράσταση «Οι Άθλιοι» του Βίκτωρος Ουγκό για παιδιά, στο πάρκο του κτιρίου διοίκησης.
Επίσης σήμερα το απόγευμα, μετά τις 18:30, οι επισκέπτες της 82ηςΔΕΘ θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να απολαύσουν τον Κινέζικο χορό του Λιονταριού από την ομάδα shao lin kung fu, που θα περιφέρεται χορεύοντας μέσα στους χώρους της Έκθεσης.
Μεγάλη συνεχίζει να είναι η επισκεψιμότητα στο Περίπτερο της Τιμώμενης Χώρας Κίνας, που εντυπωσιάζει με το μέγεθος των συμμετεχουσών εταιρειών, αλλά και με τα τεχνολογικά επιτεύγματα που παρουσιάζουν.
Στην αίθουσα «Αιμίλιος Ριάδης» συνεχίζεται η προβολή του 60λεπτου ντοκιμαντέρ του Γρηγόρη Βαρδαρινού, «Θεσσαλονίκη 1917-Η Φωτιά που Γέννησε μια Πόλη», ενώ στην ίδια αίθουσα μπορεί κανείς να δει φωτογραφικό υλικό από τα ελληνικά Μνημεία Παγκόσμιας Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς της Unesco, αλλά και την έκθεση κινέζικων κοστουμιών από παραστάσεις του Κρατικού Θεάτρου Βορείου Ελλάδος.
Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει η θεματική ενότητα AKADEMIA, σημείο συνάντησης της εκπαιδευτικής κοινότητας, όπου νέα προγράμματα σπουδών, ερευνητικά προγράμματα και workshops ρομποτικής μαγνητίζουν τα βλέμματα. Την ίδια ώρα γεύσεις και προϊόντα από όλη την Ελλάδα κατακλύζουν την 82ηΔΕΘ (Περίπτερα 4 και 7), που συγκεντρώνει παραγωγούς από κάθε γωνιά της χώρας και δίνει στη γαστρονομία άλλο περιεχόμενο. Και βέβαια η ομορφιά και η μόδα δεν θα μπορούσαν να λείψουν από τη φετινή διοργάνωση, όπου παρουσιάζονται όλες οι τελευταίες τάσεις (Περίπτερο 16).
Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της 82ηςοι επισκέπτες μπορούν να ενημερώνονται και να εγγράφονται ως εθελοντές δότες μυελού των οστών στο ειδικό σταντ της Τράπεζας Εθελοντών Δοτών Μυελού των Οστών «Όραμα Ελπίδας», στην είσοδο του Περιπτέρου 15.
Το ωράριο της 82ηςΔΕΘ τις καθημερινές είναι 16:00 με 22:00.

Είναι το παλάτι της. Όσο άγχος και πίεση και αν έχει λόγω δουλειάς κάθε φορά που η Ρούλα Κορομηλά μπαίνει στο σπίτι της στην Κηφισιά τα ξεχνά όλα.
Κάθε πρωί βγαίνει στον τεράστιο καταπράσινο κήπο της προκειμένου να απολαύσει το καφέ της και τα παιχνίδια με τον γάτο της Oscar. Αν και η μαγειρική δεν είναι από τις αγαπημένες της συνήθειες, όταν μπαίνει στο δεύτερο βασίλειό της -όπως αποκαλεί την κουζίνα- της – του δίνει και καταλαβαίνει. Εκεί είναι το μέρος άλλωστε δημιουργεί πεντανόστιμα γλυκά για τους φίλους της.

Επίσης στο σπίτι της Ρούλας υπάρχει ένα ειδικό δωμάτιο το οποίο το έχει διαμορφώσει σε αίθουσα γυμναστικης όπου και κάνει τις προπονήσεις της.

At the very first MTV Video Music Awards, Madonna performs "Like A Virgin" in a white wedding gown accessorized by her famous "Boy Toy" belt.

But there are actual awards to be given out at this landmark ceremony. Progressive jazz artist Herbie Hancock collects the most Moonmen for "Rockit," one of the first pop singles to incorporate turntablist techniques. Βράβευση του Προέδρου της Ένωσης Κινέζων Ελλάδας από την ΔΕΘ-Helexpo
«Ελλάδα-Κίνα Οικογένεια». Με αυτή την φράση ο Πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Κινέζων Ελλάδας κ. Λι Φενγκ Πινγκ ευχαρίστησε τη διοίκηση της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, η οποία σήμερα τον βράβευσε για την προσφορά του στην ευόδωση των στόχων της 82ης ΔΕΘ, που είχαν σχέση με την Κίνα ως Τιμώμενη Χώρα.
Ο πρόεδρος της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo κ. Τάσος Τζήκας επισήμανε πως ο κ. Λι Φενγκ Πινγκ βοήθησε πολύ στην διοργάνωση, καθώς κινητοποίησε την Κινέζικη κοινότητα και υποστήριξε τις δράσεις, που βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη στο πλαίσιο της συμμετοχής της Κίνας.
Ο πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Κινέζων Ελλάδας, που συνοδευόταν από συνεργάτες του, αποτέλεσε από την πρώτη στιγμή αρωγό της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo στην φετινή προσπάθεια της με επίκεντρο την Κίνα.
Θεσσαλονίκη Πόλη του Γλυκού και της 82ης ΔΕΘ
«Η έκθεση μεγαλώνει την πόλη και η πόλη μεγαλώνει την έκθεση» επισήμανε ο πρόεδρος της Συντεχνίας Καταστηματαρχών Ζαχαροπλαστών Θεσσαλονίκης κ. Μάριος Παπαδόπουλος, παρουσιάζοντας τον πιο «γλυκό» συνδυασμό της 82ηςΔΕΘ, της Κίνας Τιμώμενης Χώρας και της Θεσσαλονίκης.
Η εντυπωσιακή κόκκινη τριώροφη τούρτα, που είναι μία προσφορά της Συντεχνίας, στόλισε την αίθουσα του ΔΣ της ΔΕΘ-Helexpo, ενώ ο κ. Παπαδόπουλος τόνισε πως οι ζαχαροπλάστες της πόλης τιμούν την έκθεση και δεν θα μπορούσαν να απέχουν από την μεγάλη γιορτή της ΔΕΘ.
Από την πλευρά του ο ταμίας της Συντεχνίας κ. Ιωάννης Μαρίνης, σημείωσε ότι η Θεσσαλονίκη είναι η πόλη του γλυκού και αυτή η πρωτοβουλία χρειάζεται να ενισχυθεί με δράσεις.

Η μεγάλη στιγμή για ένα από τα καλύτερα cocktail bars της Ελλάδας και συγκεκριμένα για το Vogatsikou 3 της Θεσσαλονίκης, έφτασε! Τι εννοούμε…; Η ομάδα του θα βρίσκεται για 2 ημέρες και συγκεκριμένα (12 & 13 Οκτωβρίου) πίσω από τη μπάρα του Schumanns, του καλύτερου bar restaurant της Γερμανίας!
Ποιο είναι όμως το Vogatsikou 3 και γιατί είναι τόσο φημισμένο; Γνωρίστε ένα από τα καλύτερα cocktail bars!
Ένα µοναδικό µπαρ άνοιξε τις πύλες του στο κέντρο της πόλης εκεί όπου για πάνω από τρεις δεκαετίες υπήρχε το θρυλικό Belair. Το Vogatsikou 3 -έχει πάρει το όνοµά του από τον δρόµο στον οποίο βρίσκεται- λειτούργησε ξανά πριν από περίπου 2,5 χρόνια, δείχνοντας πως είναι ένα high end bar. Μας συστήθηκε ως το µοναδικό non smoking all day bar κι αυτό, παρόλο που αρχικά «δυσαρέστησε» κάποιους, κατάφερε να τους «αποζηµιώσει» µε την εµµονή του στη λεπτοµέρεια: από τον καφέ (δικό τους αποκλειστικό blend) και τα χειροποίητα συνοδευτικά, µέχρι ένα comfort style menu και µια awarded list µε 56 cocktails που περιλαµβάνουν classic, resident and mocktails. Δεν άργησε να γίνει talk of the town και τα 60 τ.µ. γέµισαν µε το 30+ κοινό της πόλης που έβλεπε στο άκρως ευρωπαϊκό περιβάλλον του, σε classy ύφος, το ιδανικό meeting point από νωρίς για το πρώτο espresso της ηµέρας, ένα light lunch break µε ένα blend ελληνικών γεύσεων και σύγχρονων τεχνικών, υπό την επίβλεψη του Γεώργιου Ζορµπά ή ένα after shopping drink. Όσο για την αυθεντική του µπαρίστικη ταυτότητα κερδίζει διακρίσεις, µε την κάβα του, που είναι η πιο ενηµερωµένη και κρατάει µια ισορροπία ανάµεσα σε premium ετικέτες και σπάνια spirits, και την εξειδίκευσή του στα εξαιρετικά, βραβευµένα σε παγκόσµιους διαγωνισµούς, cocktails του. Μάλιστα, ο Nικήτας Στοΐλης διακρίθηκε στο φετινό «Disaronno the mixing star by Simon Difford» µε τη συνταγή τού Saronno Amaro, το οποίο και θα συµπεριληφθεί στα 45 καλύτερα cocktails του κόσµου! Όπως επίσης για τους συντηρητές κρασιού µε επένδυση ξύλου για τη σωστή θερµοκρασία αλλά και για τη δίκη του τεκίλα που φέρει το όνοµά του µε 300 φιάλες limited. Δευτ.-Παρ. 9:00-03:00. 1789 – The United States "Department of Foreign Affairs", established by law in July, is renamed the Department of State and given a variety of domestic duties.
1956, Elvis Presley started a five-week run at No.1 on the US charts with 'Don't Be Cruel'. The track went on to become Presley's biggest selling single, with sales over six million by 1961. This “double-sided hit” which had 'Hound Dog' on the B side, became the most successful on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. One side reached No.1 on the chart, the other No.2. The two titles spent a combined 55 weeks in the Top 100 in 1956-1957.
1961, A group from Hawthorne, California called The Pendletones attend their first real recording session at Hite Morgan's studio in Los Angeles. The band recorded 'Surfin', a song that would help shape their career as The Beach Boys.
1962, The Four Seasons started a five week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Sherry', it made No.8 in the UK. They became the first American group to have three No.1's in succession.
1964, The Beatles on tour in the USA, appeared at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. During the performance a group of fans managed to break through the line of police fronting the stage and get up on-stage. Police ordered The Beatles off-stage in the middle of a song, and the concert only resumed after Derek Taylor got on the PA system and pleaded for order to be restored so that the rest of the performance would not be cancelled by the police.
1965, The Ford Motor Company became the first automaker to offer an 8-track tape player as an option for their entire line of vehicles on sale in the US. Tapes were initially only available at auto parts stores, as home 8-track equipment was still a year away.
1966, The Small Faces were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'All Or Nothing', their only No.1 hit. According to Kay Marriott, Steve Marriott's mother, Steve wrote the song about his split with ex-fiancee Sue Oliver, though first wife Jenny Rylance states that Marriott told her he wrote the song for her as a result of her split with Rod Stewart.
1967, Filming continued for The Beatles 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Lunch was at James and Amy Smedley's fish and chip shop in Taunton, Somerset with The Beatles being filmed and photographed eating their fish and chips.
1968, The Doors were forced to perform as a trio at a concert in Amsterdam after singer Jim Morrison collapsed while dancing during the Jefferson Airplane's performance.

1978, Bob Dylan kicked off his longest and most continuous US tour of his career in Augusta, Maine, playing the first of sixty-five gigs in sixty-two cities.

1984, Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'Relax' became the longest running chart hit since Engelbert Humperdink's 'Release Me', after spending 43 weeks on the UK singles chart.
1990, George Michael scored his second UK No.1 solo album with his second release 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1'. The album went on to sell over 8 million copies worldwide.
1990, The Steve Miller Band had a UK No.1 with 'The Joker' 16 years after it's first release. The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1974. More than 16 years later, it reached No.1 in the UK Singles Chart after being used in "Great Deal", a Hugh Johnson-directed television advertisement for Levi's, thus holding the record for the longest gap between transatlantic chart-toppers.
1990, Wilson Phillips had their second US No.1 with 'Release Me', a No.36 hit in the UK. The group was made up of Carnie and Wendy Wilson, the daughters of Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson, along with Chynna Phillips, the daughter of Mamas and Papas founder John Phillips.
1994, A reel to reel tape of The Quarry Men appearing at St Peter's Parish Church garden party Liverpool in July, 1957, sold for £69,000, ($125,000) at a Sotheby's auction.
1997, A 34 year old man was awarded more than £20,000 by a French court after he lost his hearing when he stood too close to loudspeakers at a U2 concert in 1993.
2003, ABBA tribute acts overtook Elvis Presley impersonators in the battle of British covers singers according to a survey. The Swedish group jumped from third most tributed act in 2001 to top in 2002 with imitators like Abba Fever and Voulez Vous putting on Abba shows. Elvis dropped to number two while The Beatles dropped to three. The Performing Right Society carried out the research.
2004, Ramonesguitarist Johnny Ramone (John Cummings) died in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with prostate cancer. Founding member of The Ramones, major influence on many punk and 90’s bands. Scored the 1977 hit single 'Sheena Is A Punk Rocker'.
2006, The Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool where The Beatles played their first gig was given a Grade II listed building status after a recommendation from English Heritage. John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison played in the converted coal cellar of the house in West Derby, in August 1959 as The Quarrymen.
2008, Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Richard Wright died aged 65 from cancer. Wright appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason. David Gilmour who joined the band at the start of 1968 said: "He was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him." In 2005, the full band reunited - for the first time in 24 years - for the Live 8 concert in London's Hyde Park. Wright had also contributed vocals and keyboards to Gilmour's 2006 solo album On An Island.
2014, Apple released a tool to remove U2's new album from its customers' iTunes accounts six days after giving away the music for free. Some users had complained about the fact that their latest album Songs of Innocence had automatically been downloaded to their devices without their permission.

1946, Born on this day, Ola Brunkert, drummer with the Swedish group ABBA. Was a member of the Slim Blues Gang, Science Poption and jazz-rock combo Opus III before joining Abba. He played on every Abba album and toured with the group. He was found dead with his throat cut at his home in Majorca, Spain on March 17th 2008 after he hit his head against a glass door in the dining room at his home.
